Essays on The Outsiders

Have you had problems with a group or another person before and want to know how they dealt with it? In The Outsiders, Ponyboy and Johnny were two different boys but were still friends. They showed their brotherly love when they take care of each other all the time. When they were in the church they only had each other to rely on. Johnny and Ponyboy showed that love was caring for each other. They both really didn’t have parents. They would run through a brick wall for each other because they love each other.

First, the reason that brotherly love is the theme of the essay is brotherly love by caring for each other. They cared for each other because of the way when Johnny got hurt and was going to die. On page 126 Johnny said before he died “.”Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold…” The pillow seemed to sink a little, and Johnny died.”(Hinton 126). Johnny’s death had a major effect on all of the Greasers but especially Ponyboy.

Secondly, the second reason that the theme is the theme of this essay is that Brotherly love basically both not having parents. Pony’s parents died and then Johnny has parents but they don’t care about them. In the passage “Since Mom and Dad were killed in an auto wreck.”(Hinton 4). It includes Johnny’s side with this “His father was always beating him up, and his mother ignored him”.(Hinton 11). The main reason that they have their brotherly love is that if Johnny has got beat by his father and his mom ignores him that’s saying that they basically don’t have parents. In reality, Ponyboy doesn’t have them but it seems that Johnny is in the same situation.

The third reason that the theme is brotherly love is that Brotherly love by them being able to run through a brick wall for each other. For example, Ponyboy got hit at his house and ran to the lot and woke Johnny and said “Johnny? I called, and started when he rolled over and jumped up almost under my feet. Come on, Johnny, were running away” (Hinton 45). That’s showing the love and the running through a brick wall for him, Johnny could have easily said no that he doesn’t want to go. When Johnny killed Bob Pony could have run off and said that he doesn’t want to be with a killer. After Johnny said “I killed him, ” he said slowly. I killed that boy”.(Hinton 49).

In conclusion, they both showed brotherly love because they love each other and found a deep bond with each other. The reason the brotherly love was because they had best friends like brothers when he died he told him to stay gold. The other reason they had a bond with each other is that they both basically didn’t have parents and that the way they got through each other. The final reason they had a deep bond for each other was because they would literally do anything for each other. The main reason you want you to remember that the theme is brotherly love is that everyone in The Outsiders has a great bond with someone and they would do anything for each other no matter the cost.
