Abortion and its effects on society
Abortions have been common in our contemporary society since modern medicine has contributed to the ease of carrying out the process. It has become a frequent procedure especially to the young people in society. Nowadays the process can be carried out through medication or surgery. Most people usually end up taking the medication route, but this depends on the stage of pregnancy as certain stages only require surgery. As much as this procedure helps women get rid of their unwanted pregnancies, it has serious repercussions that affect women negatively and ends up destroying lives in the process.
Most women in the society who end up getting pregnant in the wrong circumstances always feel the pressure of terminating the pregnancy due to different circumstances. Some end up being too young and still under the supervision of their parents. This makes them feel embarrassed and unable to take care of their children if they end up giving birth. Those who are still in school feel the pressure as a result of being laughed at by their fellow students as they view early pregnancies as an embarrassment to the society. They also do not like the idea of putting their school life on hold and going through with the pregnancy. Pregnant women are the most affected by the whole process than the men themselves. Men can always get on with their lives without any significant repercussions in their health and well-being. The only significant effect that pregnancy has on their lives is the aspect of responsibility. This is where a man should accept the responsibility of his child and support the counterpart in any way possible.
Women who end up taking part in abortion at a very early age end up being affected by the process psychologically and physically. Many of them end up dropping out of school due to the psychological torture that comes together with it. After such a process they find it very hard to concentrate on their daily lives as the thought process is now severely affected by the whole issue. But in some cases, they continue with their lives as nothing happened; the individuals are very heartless and care very little about the consequences of their actions. If the procedure is not carried out well, it might result in the deterioration of an individual’s health. This weighs very heavily on the women as they are the ones who go through the whole process without the men who were also responsible for the pregnancy. The physical side-effects of the process vary from woman to woman. Some women might be affected through their menstrual periods where it fails to come back after the procedure. It ends up taking time and bringing up confusion in their lives.
Other side-effects might include vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, spotting, and bleeding. If a woman has not gone to a quality clinic, she might end up not being given the required pills and procedures that are needed for full recovery after the procedure. Without the correct directions and guidelines, the procedure might lead to her experiencing severe health issues and even death. Abortion is also ill-advised as after the procedure as women who undergo this procedure end up being seen or feel impure among the society. Although it is challenging to find out if one has undergone the procedure unless they get intimate in a long-term relationship, which leads to many individuals being affected by these relationships. This causes ripple effects in their relationships. It ends up causing damage to many families and lives.
In many social groups, abortion is considered as being an agent of murder as it is killing an unborn child before letting it see the light of day. This affects the individuals who end up regretting in the future when they realized that the procedure was inhumane. The unborn child would most probably have had a great life that no one is aware of and going through the procedure robs this child of this chance. Moreover, the process assists men in avoiding responsibility and encourages recklessness among them. Men should be held responsible for their actions and face the consequences of their misdeeds. The process promotes appalling behavior in society as individuals feel like making such decisions is the right thing to do and okay.
There have been over fifty-six million abortions a year, and the number keeps on growing over the years. Older women have also been affected by the process as most of them are afraid of losing track in their careers and way of life. They make it a choice between their careers and giving birth in which most of the time they end up choosing their careers. Women who choose terminate their pregnancies in the course of their lives to pursue their careers end up affected negatively. Many of them end up not being able to conceive in the future. This brings problems in the future and ends up destroying families and households. Some couples might be expecting to have children in the future but fail due to the fact that the procedure altered their hormonal balance, therefore their conception chances become very limited and hard. This causes conflict in relationships, and ruins lives in the process.
In conclusion, abortion is a very inhumane procedure to carry out and always has ripple effects throughout an individual’s life. It is ill-advised as it also affects the people surrounding the individual who has gone through the procedure. Abortion should be considered a crime and should not be encouraged in our society today.
