The Holocaust was known as a time of racism, violence, and discrimination, where many humans, especially Jews were killed. Approximately 6 million to be exact. The Holocaust had a major impact not just in the world but with Jews and Anti-Semitism from 1939 to 1945 during World War II. Many believed it was a punishment for the Jews. They supposedly deserved to be treated like animals and to have no rights whatsoever. The idea of this genocide killing was introduced by Adolf Hitler. A
dolf Hitler and the Nazis believed that the Jews were “inferior” therefore proceeding to kills millions of innocent humans for not being the “perfect” model of what Hitler wanted. Many people will never forget how it was a time of struggle and a miracle to be able to survive. It was a time where Jews had to fight for their rights and the right to live just because of what they believed in. Prisoners were treated unfairly, for they suffered the consequences throughout the years based on their beliefs, due to the dictatorship of Adolf Hitler. After the Nazi seizure of power in Germany, the search for refuge increased and many Jews had nowhere to go until the U.S. intervention in Latin American countries.
Even before the Nazis came into power in Germany, against Semitism was going on and it was not covered up. The Nazi party was established in 1919 and developed into place and Hitler joined as a member due to the dissatisfaction and frustration by Germany’s defeat in the World War. The defeat left the nation monetarily discouraged and economically depressed as well as politically shaky. Later resulting in Hitler becoming the leader of the Nazi Party in 1921. A portion of the founders of the Nazi party were a group by the name of Anton Drexler and Karl Harrer. The Nazi party promoted German pride and anti-Semitism and transparently communicated their disappointment with the terms of the Treaty of Versailles just as with numerous other different occasions.
As the years went on Adolf Hitler began to build up the idea that Jews were viewed as an evil race. The Nazi Party was one of a the most extreme political groups that had developed in Germany following World War I. The Nazis objective was to reestablish German social qualities, stop the danger of an uprising communism, set the German individuals back to work, and establish Germany to its "legitimate position" as a world power. In 1933, Adolf Hitler progressed and became chancellor of Germany and his Nazi government before soon assumed dictatorial powers. Under Nazi rule, all other ideological political parties were banned.
The Reichstag Fire was an attack that occurred on February 27, 1933, that burned the structure that housed the Reichstag in Berlin which was the German parliament. They said that the flame was part of a Communist attempt to topple the government. Hitler who was the recently named Chancellor blamed the fire as an excuse to seize absolute power in Germany which had an effect on the rise of his Nazi regime.
On November 9 to November 10, 1938, in an incident known as “Kristallnacht”, Nazis in Germany burnt synagogues, vandalized Jewish homes, schools and organizations. This incident killed nearly 100 Jews. In the result of Kristallnacht, also called the “Night of Broken Glass,” somewhere in the range of 30,000 Jewish men were captured and sent to Nazi death camps, also known as concentration camps. After Kristallnacht, conditions for German Jews deteriorated.
This brought about Hitler and the Nazis executing an alleged “Final Solution” to the “Jewish problem,” and completed the homicide of 6 million European Jews. The Nuremberg Laws made by Adolf Hitler, who reported the formation of them on September 15, 1935. These Laws being against the Jews and all through the entire time of the Holocaust. These laws additionally being known as specific kinds of codes, which was fundamentally about moral standards or any kind of elimination.
This before long bringing about numerous Nuremberg trials by the finish of World War II. Also, these laws expanded and prompted much isolation, control, and extermination among the Jews and Germans. One of these laws being that these two were unfit to marry each other. They also prevented any sort of Jew that was in responsible of a German within a workforce or any type of employment. This law restricted Jews to anything and everything and that was only the start of a period of catastrophe and tragedy to their lives. Nazis set up death camps which were a fundamental component of the regime in Nazi Germany in the range of 1933 and 1945.
Nazi inhumane imprisonment served for three main purposes. The first one was to detain individuals whom the Nazi regime saw to be a security risk. Second, to kill people and little, directed groups of people by homicide, far from general society and judicial review. Lastly, to misuse forced constrained work of the prisoner population. This reason came out of a work deficiency. The first concentration imprisonment opening up in March of the year 1933 in Dachau, Germany, for political detainees. The major purpose of these concentration camp was to imprison and threaten the leaders of political, social and cultural developments that the Nazis saw to be a risk to the survival of the regime. At that point it was later utilized for an expanded and brought together concentration camp system overseen by the SS.
Dachau later advanced into a death camp where innumerable thousands of Jews died of malnutrition, sickness, and exhaust or because of execution. The SS later settled a lot bigger camps in Oranienburg, Esterwegen, Dachau, and Lichtenburg. A large number of these prisoners included individuals from different groups that Hitler considered unqualified for the new Germany he was making. These groups included artists, intellectuals, Gypsies, the physically and mentally handicapped and homosexuals.
By the late 1938, Jews were prohibited from practically all open places in Germany. In the concentration camps, detainees were required to wear color-coded triangles on their coats with the goal that the watchmen and officers of the camps could undoubtedly recognize every individual. Political detainees, for example Communists, Socialists, and trade unionists wore red triangles. Regular criminals wore green, Jehovah's Witnesses wore purple and hmosexuals pink. Letters were known to indicate nationality. For example, a P stood for the Polish, a SU for the Soviet Union, and an F for the French. Caught Soviet warriors worked as forced laborers and a huge number of these detainees of war died of the fact that they were executed or severely mistreated by the Germans.
Numerous detainees experienced from tuberculosis, malaria, meningitis, pemphigus, dysentery, and Durchfall. The most widely recognized death for Jews was starvation, diseases, and cruel brutality. Many of the prisoners were assigned to different duties that had to be done as they served time in the camps. Most of the jobs assigned depended on which type of camp they were en and age as well as gender had no barrier, Some of the prisoners stayed indoors and performed jobs such as administration tasks to very heavy labor, it all depended. Most of the prisoners although worked outdoors. They had to work in factories, construction projects, coal mines and they did this with no wages. They were treated poorly and often had to walk kilometers to their workplace. They only received food three times a day resulting in starvation as one of the causes of death.
The malnutrition and forced labor they went through caused so much stress in their weak and fragile bodies were not enough to survive. Many of these prisoners did everything they could to be obedient and have some hope to survive but this was not enough to the cold-hearted Nazis. Prisoners lived through the worst conditions which were dehumanizing. Within the camps, the Nazis established a hierarchical system. Prisoners with a higher social status got easier tasks which were usually indoors. Prisoners with a lower social status had more physically demanding tasks such as mining, factory work, and construction. The prisoners suffered harsh and extreme living conditions and had a higher mortality rate. Prisoners were treated unfairly, for they suffered the consequences throughout the years based on their beliefs, due to the dictatorship of Adolf Hitler.
Germans used different methods to kill the Jews and they were mass shootings, mobile gassing trucks, and extermination camps. For Mass shootings, the Jews were forced to dig their own grave and when they were shot they fell right into the grave. The mobile gassing trucks was a form of suffocation by being forced in sealed trucks and the final thing that they used to kill Jews was gas chambers. Basically, gas chambers were meant to burn the Jews on literal fire until they died. These harsh measures caused millions of deaths of Jews. America was one of the most powerful nations during this time of crisis.
During World War I, they were able to stay neutral and had very little desire to become involved in the Holocaust until 1941. Prior to that on May 19th, 2939, the S.S. St. Louis sailed from Hamburg, Germany to Havana, Cuba with 937 passengers. This was one of the last ships that left Germany before World War II struck. Most of the passengers were Jews escaping from their lives back home. Most of them had applied for U.S. visas and they only planned to stay until they could enter the United States. They went through so much to flee their homeland and only 28 passengers were allowed into Cuba at the end.
This event turned into the talk of Europe and the United States and the story gained so much publicity. So many people suggested that the refugees come to the U.S. by the United States government decided not to proceed with the steps to permit passengers into the country. The rest of the passengers were able to find refuge in other European countries and did not have to go back to the dangers of the Nazis dictatorship. The U.S. intervention in Latin American nations had a tremendous effect. Brazil, Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, and the Dominican Republic all had exchange agreements with Nazi Germany.
This understanding affected every single one of these nations. For instance, Brazil's exchange with Germany multiplied somewhere in the range between 1933 and 1938. At that point a couple of complications began to happen. With the beginning of the war in September 1939, Axis boats could no longer cross the Atlantic for business, thus trade between Latin America and Germany and Italy stopped. Losing trading partners hurt a portion of the Latin American states, and in most cases, the United States was the main nation that had the capacity to supplant the Germans and Italians.
The Holocaust was one of the twentieth century’s greatest tragedies that occurred due to the dictatorship of Adolf Hitler. The Nazis and Hitler himself believed that the Jews were “inferior.” This resulted in the murder of around two-thirds of the Jewish population of Europe. Finally, in 1945, the horror that millions of people faced due to their own beliefs was finally over. All the people that did survive the torture treatment were finally free to go but they had no place to go to.
Most of the prisoners tried fleeing to other countries to get as far away from the abuse they went through as possible. The lives of six million people were destroyed. Thousands of people searched and searched for their families but no news about their found bodies was ever good. The pain and sufferance that millions experienced can never be resolved. The Holocaust affected everyone but it hurt no one as badly as the Jews, prisoners, families, and people who went through this trauma.
