The Definition of who People are Varies from Person to Person
Walt Whitman’s poem “Song of Myself” was written before the civil war and which the nation was divided. The poem itself is a self identifying poem about himself and all different types of people should be brought together as one. In section 16 of the poem, after analyzing the text, form, and historical context, can be theorized that the narrator argues that the upcoming civil war will soon bring unity to the north and the south since the nation is divided due to diversity. Many people have different perspectives on their self identity but due to similar life experiences they are all related in some shape or form, which brings unity to different groups.
A human being grows throughout their lifetime because they observe and learn from their mistakes. Whitman demonstrates his growth over time by the use of paradox. Whitman self identifies himself as, “I am of old and young, of the foolish as much as the wise” (line 330). Whitman’s use of a paradox is to get the reader engaged by thinking more deeply into the real meaning. A person cannot be physically young and old, but growing from young to old can form who someone is through the lessons they have lived through.
A young person has not had many life events yet, therefore, they are still self identifying themselves. A young person grows from being foolish into a wise human being because they have learned from their mistakes based on past experiences. Whitman knows that most people have differences within them even himself; “I resist any thing better than my own diversity” (Whitman line 349). The meaning of being diverse is being someone unique in their own way. However, everyone is unique in their own way but many people can relate to each other due to similar feelings or lessons they have learned.
During the time period of when the poem was written, there was conflict between the southerners and northerners. The upcoming outbreak of the civil war was due to the different beliefs between the free and slave states and would end up defining what type of nation the United States would become. Whitman writes; “The Southerner soon as a Northerner, a planter nonchalant and hospitable down by the Ocenee I live” (Whitman line 335). Even though the north and south both have different perspectives before the war, they will soon be brought together because they will both be involved in the same traumatic event. He demonstrates that diverse groups will be brought together through similar experiences and being able to accept people for who they are because everyone is somehow related from that event. He states,
“Nation of many nations, the smallest the same and the largest the same” (Whitman line 334). He is theorizing that no matter how diverse someone is, somehow everyone is connected because of life experiences. Whitman uses the word “comrade” in the poem to demonstrate that people are all involved in a similar activity, for example life activities. He theorizes that everyone is eachothers comrades because people can grow from one another and learn from their life activities.
Whitman’s use of form and historical content, defines that different self identifying groups are all linked in some shape or form through the use of experiences. He defines who he believes he is but connects other types of groups within the poem because he has grown from them. Whitman’s example of the south and the north describes how through the experience of the civil war that the south and the north are connected through an event they both had been through. Whitman proves that people are diverse in many ways but are related by experience and events that have affected them. Whitman theorizes that through life experiences everyone is related because people learn from others' mistakes, therefore, everyone is eachothers comrades.

Working on myself Led me to a Better Life
It was my freshman year of high school. I was young and just starting to find out what the whole high school thing was all about. I did not know my way around the big school or even more so the people around me. I was like a lost puppy in a big city, everything was new to me: the environment, the people, and even the classes. It took me a while to get used to it. I had to make new friends because most of my old ones were not in my classes. In a way, high school changed who I was: I lost friends, I gained new ones, I had new classes, I took on new journeys, I fell in love, and I got my heart broken.
It all started with that smile; there is just something about the way he smiles that catches everyone's attention. He seemed perfect, like someone from a dream. He was the starting quarterback, shortstop on the baseball team, and the point guard of the basketball team. He was tall, dark-haired, and overall my perfect person. He was my dream guy.
We started dating in December of my freshman year. Everything was always so good; sometimes, so good it seemed too good to be true. He was all I ever wanted in a guy. If I were to make a list of qualities that I wanted my husband to have, he would have scored a one hundred. He loved me, along with every flaw I possessed. He showed me what it was like to live with such a strong love for someone that when I even thought about it, I could not help but smile.
Along with that, I loved everything about him. Every 'flaw' he saw in himself was, to me, another reason to love him even more deeply. I loved that piece of hair that would stick straight up in the back of his head. I loved the way he would smile so big when he talked about something he had a passion for, and the way his face became red when he got nervous. I loved when he had to wear his glasses even when he hated it. Most of all, I loved the way he loved me. He always knew just what to say or do to make me feel special. He was my other half, my missing puzzle piece. We loved many of the same things like the peace of waking up early to see the sunrise, the smell of hot coffee, and the relaxation of a Sunday at home watching football. He always encouraged me to chase my dreams. He was so down to earth, a man of his word, much different from any boy in our school.
Saying all of that, it just was not the right time. As I said, I was young. I was not ready to take on a full time, committed relationship. I did not know who I was or even whom I wanted to be. He came at a very insubstantial time in my life. When he came, he filled my life with love and happiness, so much happiness that it almost became a need; but, still, deep down I was still broken and hurting. I guess that is why our relationship seemed so surreal at times and after a while, it got old to me. I was not the happy and outgoing person he believed I was. I was ill, tired, angry, exhausted, and was afraid to say that I was running away from who I truly was and what I wanted to be. I hated myself for letting it get to that point.
During all of that, he continued to love me. He was there for every little need I had although he was going through some of the biggest changes in his own life as well. Never once did he complain, but eventually I seen that he was burned out, he was exhausted, he was restless, and he no longer had that fire that used to be. I was too soaked up in myself to realize that he needed love and support as well. I did not give him the love and support that he silently longed for; he deserved someone better.
Trying to do life without him brought me deep pain; pain that, in the end, taught me some of my greatest life lessons. This pain set me on avenues to self-complacency. It taught me that sometimes what is right is not always going to be easy, it taught me to keep learning, to get right back up when you fall, to chase my dreams, and it overall forced me to open my eyes and see that what I wanted in this life was going to take hard work. I had to force myself to learn how to create my happiness; that was a challenge in itself.
A new-found self-confidence now fills my life. I now find myself in a place of satisfaction: knowing that where I am right now is where I should be. I am now more me than I have ever been; the girl who hid beneath a callused heart of hate and jealousy. It was a long journey, eight months to be exact, but with ambition and drive to be able to experience life immensely, I overcame it. He was the all-around the right person just at the wrong time.

A Story about how i Became Better
Everyone aims to change or rather improve; those who do not however, are either already born perfect or are afraid to do so. Failing to change will result indifferent outcomes, and for what do we live for if everything turns out no differently from yesterday, today or tomorrow? My dear friends, how can you sleep at night knowing that the events today will happen again tomorrow? If you have a wonderful life then you can be happy in experiencing a dream over and over, but not everyone is so fortunate. If you suffered today, are you prepared to suffer again tomorrow?
I was weak before. I had trouble making up my mind that I often depend on my parents to make the decisions for me even if I dislike their choice. I could never fight for what I wanted. I would easily give up, especially when it came to my education. I wanted to continue studying since 2014, but was unable to due to financial problems. I stopped going to university and started working for three years, I had kept in mind that I am doing this for my family when deep down I was only doing this in spite of being unable to fight for what I really wanted.
I was weak, I had zero confidence in myself, and I always depend on others. I had a lot of dreams but barely enough courage to pursue them. I could never comply with the expectations people instilled in me. I hated it. I hated crying everything out, even the little things; Unable to decide for myself, afraid to confront challenges and never content for what I have. I was pathetic and I hated it.
I was. Because of all the experiences I had, I now stand proud and strong enough to face new hardships life throws at me. I strive to continue my aspirations from before and nurture them for tomorrow. I was weak, I was.
I am now an independent person; an individual who can function on her own. I can make my own decisions, be content of what I have and can realize the fact that if I want something, I should fight for it. I am not the weak person I was before. I can now endure hardships with or without company. I am now not the type of person to give up on a path for her dreams. As little as these achievements are for others, it is as big of a step for me and I am proud of what I have become.
I only want one thing for my future, which is to graduate. That will be my first step to success. I want to provide for my parents just as how they provided for my needs. To have a stable job, to travel with them through different countries, to be able to give everything they want, to make them happy is my success. Making my parents smile with my efforts will be my greatest achievement.
From weak to strong, cowardly to courageous, dependent to independent; just as how a caterpillar changes to a cocoon to a butterfly, I have changed and is continually changing. I now wake up to a new tomorrow compared to living every day the same. I’ll say this now, to you my friends who are witness: I have changed myself! From yesterday to today to tomorrow.

Immigration Politics by Donald Trump and DACA
The United States is culturally heterogeneous. What some consider to be true American values may be considered non-American by others. So there is, in a sense, no consensus on the values that are supposed to be the core of the American identity. In history, there has never been a conflict-free moment on the value system, or without controversy over what should be considered as truly American. However, the United States has always boasted of being the place where one realizes one's dreams and where one finds refuge. Many immigrants arrive in the United States to escape the horrors of their own country, hoping to find a better life for their family, and also to contribute to the American entrepreneurial spirit.
Removing the DACA would go against what many people see as the heart of American values, as it deprives many young Americans of the opportunity to realize their dreams. At the same time, an honest and historical reading of the United States can not ignore the role played by racism, slavery and genocide in the construction of this country. While some refuse to consider these infamous values, they are unfortunately also part of the American value system. It is not surprising, therefore, that many Americans see foreigners and non-whites with great suspicion, and that they do everything to keep them out of their country. Many Americans have fought for this since the founding of their country. We find this conflict within the Republican Party itself. Some Republicans think that DACA should not have been touched. Others believe it was necessary to get rid of it because they see it as an abuse of executive power by the Obama administration. These party members would like to see Congress take this issue to put an end to this status of 'Dreamers'.
Meanwhile, as Donald Trump claims to have contributed to strong economic growth since his arrival at the White House while making hostile remarks to immigrants, economists and business leaders warn of this policy that could have a very negative impact on the economy. With almost full employment, employers are increasingly struggling to recruit employees, particularly in sectors such as construction currently in high demand to rebuild the regions that were devastated by the hurricanes in 2017. The decision to end Daca sparked opposition from business leaders, of whom a hundred signed a petition asking the US Congress to pass a law protecting these young 'dreamers'. Donald Trump's immigration policy, like the end of immunizing nearly 200,000 Salvadorans from expulsion from the United States, could cost the US economy by fueling a crisis in the hands of the United States. artwork. Ironically, while Salvadorans may be deported next year, the US government has warned Americans traveling to El Salvador, calling on them to be cautious about gangs, extortion, violence against drug traffickers. drugs and weapons operating in this Central American country. For Donald Trump, it's about making a commitment to his campaign. As a candidate, he promised to immediately terminate the Daca program. The businessman believed at the time that it was 'one of the most unconstitutional actions ever undertaken by a president'. But once elected, the US president seemed to distance himself from this campaign promise. He may have been sensitive to the arguments of some parliamentarians who, including on his side, have expressed reservations about a unilateral White House initiative. This is a direct consequence of the 'zero tolerance' policy against clandestine immigration introduced in April by the Trump administration.
Under this new policy, any adult arrested after illegally entering the United States must now be prosecuted for a criminal offense. Pending their appearance before a federal judge, who will decide on a possible prison sentence, the defendants are therefore detained. Hence the separation with their children who, under a 1997 court agreement, can not be detained for more than twenty days, even in the company of their parents. The decree signed Wednesday by Trump orders the Minister of Justice to seize the courts to amend the agreement of 1997, nicknamed the 'Flores settlement'. (Sean, Murray. (2018).).
Finally, the elimination of the DACA program has at least two winners. The first is Trump, who gets a small victory. He shows his supporters that he is able to keep an election promise. Moreover, the ball is now in the camp of Congress, forced to act. If he fails to find a solution, the Trump administration will be able to stick to it. The second winner is obviously the organizations that support these anti-migration policies. Research in sociology and political science shows that anti-immigrant prejudices are largely nourished as soon as one perceives cultural and political threats. Many individuals and organizations in this country cling desperately to their vision of a predominantly white, Anglo-Saxon America. They believe that immigration jeopardizes this vision. That's what makes them angry and makes them fearful. All these people, who believe that the flow of Latino immigrants in recent decades will undermine their vision of the 'true' American culture, see the abolition of the DACA program as a victory against their designated enemy. At best, the Congress will put in place a policy that will recreate DACA broadly, and allow young people to stay in the United States.
The country has recently broken its teeth on a real reform of immigration. Such changes will not happen soon, because of the growing political polarization and the legitimacy that President Trump gives to the 'nativist' movement. However, it is also likely that many local governments are fighting against the federal government's efforts to marginalize undocumented immigrants. Many elected officials across the United States are already denouncing Trump's decision and promising to protect the Dreamers. The worst thing for these people would be that their situation is approaching the nightmare already experienced by many Latino immigrants under the Trump administration - notably because of the program 'Immigration and Customs Enforcement' which identifies and renews unauthorized migrants, including those who have absolutely committed no crime. Even though the Trump administration has publicly assured the Dreamers that only undocumented immigrants who commit crimes would be systematically targeted by deportations, there are too many cases where honest migrants are suddenly detained and deported for that this promise is taken seriously. It is clear that there are 'nativist' factions within the White House that will find it quite acceptable to deport until the last Dreamer, even though some polls show that 80% of Republicans and 75% of Trump's voters support the right to 'Dreamers' to stay in the United States.
In conclusion, the Daca has long been the target of US conservatives, who argue that illegal immigration is causing Americans to lose jobs. For the first concerned, the consequences could vary according to this new device. In the worst case, the dreamers could end up without a work permit from next year and live again in fear of the raids of the immigration services. The Daca has long been the target of US conservatives, who argue that illegal immigration is causing Americans to lose jobs. In fact, Donald Trump's policy is so opaque and disorganized that nobody seems to know if, when, where and on what conditions a child can find his family. Officially, the federal agencies involved in the process ensure that families can be reunited, either to be deported at the same time or to wait together for consideration of a possible asylum claim. The Daca program is also vigorously defended by a broad coalition that includes the Democratic opposition, some Republicans, and many business and professional leaders. Among these supporters, Republican House Leader Paul Ryan and Florida Republican Governor Rick Scott. Both men advocate that the program be preserved in one way or another. It goes without saying that the announcement, in addition to terrifying key stakeholders, divides the country.

Solutions for Undocumented Immigrants
The United States has an immigration issue that has left the nation unbelievably isolated. The issue has less to do with our borders than what to do with current undocumented foreigners. There have been various bills made to address the circumstances around the question of undocumented immigrants. The issue lies in ousting individuals who have been living here since they were kids and also expelling families who have kids who are American natives. Monetarily, mass extradition would be unfavorable. So from both a social and financial perspective mass expulsion of people would be an unsafe solution to the current crisis.
The new administration is quite strict about immigration policies and they have devised new regulations which strengthened the immigration process and a border wall was suggested, moreover a total of 6 Muslim majority countries were barred from entering the U.S. These are some of the steps taken by the Trump administration. Immigration has been widely discussed in the media and the political scene in the country. As has been previously stated there are better alternatives the administration could follow instead of expelling everybody from the nation. In this report policy brief alternatives will be listed.
Evidence:
Since around 2001, there has been a ton of attempts to create new migration strategy that would profit some undocumented workers and diminish the uncertainty possible expulsion of individuals who currently live in dread of deportation. A noteworthy administrative piece of legislation known as the DREAM Act had been at the forefront of migration change. As indicated by a 2014 report from Pew Research there are about 11.3 million undocumented immigrants, who under the DREAM Act just about 1.7 million of these outsiders would perhaps be qualified for this program. Nonetheless, this proposed act failed in 2001 and has not been passed in any form, regardless of what legislation it has been joined to.
The then President Obama, who somewhat kept running on significant migration change, issued an executive order, that extraordinarily helped a substantial class of undocumented migrants as well as giving them a way to citizenship. The order stopped the expulsion of undocumented immigrants who arrived in the United States under the age of 16 were younger than 30, currently in school, post-secondary school, veterans, and those without a criminal record. This executive order likewise enabled undocumented immigrants to apply for driver's licenses, work grants, schools, and additionally the right to medical coverage. In-state educational cost. This executive order by the President is known as DACA. After that President Obama made another executive order, which extended DACA and additionally halted the expulsion of those born in the U.S and with no criminal record.
Alternatives:
There are different alternatives the administration could follow for a better solution to the current crisis. Expelling so many people from the country would not be a good solution. The government should extend current undocumented immigration arrangement to incorporate the individuals who have lived here for a long time or have youngsters who are citizens. This will incorporate further actualizing the executive demands made by President Obama, which are at present being slowed down under a directive by a Texas local court, while the court decides whether these official demands can be deemed legal. These projects will help numerous undocumented immigrants who fear deportation.
An option to the immigration executive order made by President Obama is to do the correct inverse and endeavor to extradite every one of the 12 million undocumented migrants to their respective nations. This arrangement will endeavor to coercively locate every undocumented outsider, rather than trusting that workers commit an error with green cards or commit a wrongdoing. This will incorporate expanded pursuits of individuals and their documentation, particularly in outskirt states. Something like this enactment has been passed in Arizona where police were permitted to apprehend anybody they suspected of being an undocumented worker for confirmation of citizenship or legal residency.
Finally, there can be no new enactment so neither change nor extraordinary extradition will happen. There can simply be an expansion in border security to help stem the flow of illegal immigrants to enter the United States wrongfully. This will mean financing coordinated efforts towards building bigger dividers or fences and additional labor in all places on the border with high measures of unlawful entry.
Criteria:
A noteworthy rule that should be considered is each alternative’s monetary effect. Will there be economically determined, or will it help the United States' economy. This will be determined by the assets that states will require. What will likewise be considered is in the event that it is reasonable for the citizens as well as undocumented foreigners. This will decide whether the arrangement will be expanded absolution or extraordinary expulsion. This will be estimated by the components that could happen in either circumstance, for example, an expansion/diminishment in employment development, training, or wrongdoing rates. In conclusion, we will decide if these arrangements can work in the long haul, both for residents and foreigners, and in addition its long run effect to the nation's economy. We will decide this by embedding an answer briefly to quantify the effect in a little area, rather than do it in a vast scale over the United States. What makes a difference most is the effect on the welfare of the United States, regardless of whether it be fortifying our economy or debilitating the safety in our nation.
Outcomes:
As of now, Obama's first executive order is being actualized since it was reported in June 2012. DACA is a win that has enabled numerous individuals to accomplish objectives, for example, advanced education that wouldn't have happened as expected generally. In any case, there will keep on being reaction on a reprieve that will be given to workers who entered the United States unlawfully. There is likewise the supposition that President Obama's order offering absolution to a segment of undocumented outsiders in the United States will give attract more illicit movement, as individuals may trust they have a higher shot of citizenship under the new projects. There is additionally the monetary effect to consider whenever expanded migration could happen after the implementation.
Anyway, mass deportation is additionally considered to a great degree exorbitant on the grounds that it will require a lot more officers. It can likewise be viewed as racially one-sided on the grounds that officers will check numerous individuals' documentation and can be considered as racially profiling. A bill that executed this sort of checking was made in Arizona and is known as Arizona SB 1070. The Supreme Court of the United States struck three of the four arrangements in this law down as it was found to abuse the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution. It produced huge contention all through the United States as just minorities; principally Hispanics would be checked for their residency status.
Not permitting immigration reform and letting expulsion continue will not encourage the United States, its nationals, or any undocumented outsiders who live in the United States right now. Just expanding border security will no doubt negatively affect the United States. It could impede family connections and cause many persevering people to be extradited and not help better the United States.
Tradeoffs:
Allowing amnesty for an extensive number of outsiders will be greatly advantageous to families who have been living here for a considerable length of time. It will permit better edvaction for these kids and also keep families together. Youngsters whose guardians are ousted will in general wind up forgotten, which helps nobody. Expanded expelling can help with the issue of US citizens paying for undocumented foreigners and furthermore open up assets for subjects. In any case, there will probably illicit movement. It will be quite expensive to house undocumented workers until their official expulsion.
Expanded border security may somewhat stem more unlawful outsiders from entering yet it is insufficient. Not making out of here settlers will have huge long run impacts on the economy and also social equity in the United States. There will more than likely be an issue of unlawful foreigners if nothing is done to change.
Decide:
I trust that the best arrangement going ahead will be to concede pardon through DACA and DAPA. There are numerous undocumented foreigners who need better lives and they can help improve the United States too. The United States was based on the dreams of immigrants with hopes and dreams also. It the ideal financial arrangement, as it can create employment advertise and also cause entrepreneurs of new businesses and is the most economical of the three elective arrangements.

DACA Impact for Female Empowerment
Throughout history, female empowerment has had different significant meanings. Women were stereotyped to be cleaners, cooks, or as a housewife and were expected to have no career. However, women have accomplished so much over the years as engineers, scientist, businesswomen, entertainers, political leaders, women in the military and so on. Women have been so belittled throughout history, and I think of how great we have progressed.
Furthermore, Female empowerment to me is when women have proven themselves to be as equal or even greater leaders, especially in a male-dominated work society. Empowerment has lead to women inspiration and leadership as role models and trendsetters. Empowerment is simply women breaking stereotypes and spreading awareness that women can do anything they set their mind to. Empowerment is when women who inspire young girls to become who they want to be regardless of their gender. This applies to whether it's being a mechanic, engineer, construction worker, wrestler, actor. It's women encouraging each other after years of stereotypes and mistreatment for equalization. Moreover, it is amazing how much we have progressed in America, and although we did, it does not mean we should stop fighting for equalization. Many third world countries do not have many female empowerments in a patriarchy environment. Women are still looked down on and are not being treated equally. So how do we empower women around us every day and in other countries?
To empower women around us every day, we can start off by just small things. The saying “A simple smile can change someone’s day” Which is true. For me, a simple gesture, smile or conversation empowers me every day when encountering other women in society. Little things like this brighten up my day and empower me to stay positive. Another way we can empower women is to emphasize in inspiring young girls or even young transgender women. An example of this is when I was asked by an old co-worker Marissa (who is now a fourth-grade teacher) to speak about my college experiences as a freshman. They had asked me questions on how college was like, how I came to be, and how I managed my time as a student. Marissa and I hoped that by me speaking about my experiences had inspired them to set a path for themselves as I did to further their education after high school.
Another way to empower women is to create awareness and not only within the U.S. but also women in other countries specifically those dominated by men and patriarchy. An example of this would be in Egypt last month in December 2018, when Egyptian actress Rania Yousef has been set to trial for wearing a “revealing” dress. Egyptian Critics called her to dress a disgrace to society and a disrespect to the religion and ethics of the country. She faces up to five years in prison and is due in court on January 12 for public obscenity. The dress itself is a fair dress where most women in America can consider casual or something you can wear to prom or a wedding party.
Additionally, this trial is unfair, unjust and ridiculous for putting a woman to trial for the way she dressed which in no way does she harm anyone or even herself. For empowerment, women around the world can create awareness, campaigns, petitions and should be fighting for Youseff. For the reason that a woman has the power to make any decision she wants and should be able to do what she wants with her body as long as she is not harming anyone or herself. Female empowerment should continue not only in the growth within the United States but also in many male dominating and patriarchy nations. As women, we must encourage and assist those by awareness and raising campaigns as we continue to keep fighting for women’s rights.
Today, President Trump’s recent attempt to end DACA can affect many young immigrant women who strive to achieve higher education such as myself. This current event will prevent the program from helping many thousands of immigrant women from its benefits. Daca recipients also receive limited grants and scholarships in order to attend college. DACA also helps immigrant women to be eligible for employment from a work permit and have a driver’s license. Another important benefit for DACA recipients is their protection from deportation and the avoidance of family separation.
From my personal experience as a first-generation student coming from an immigrant background, DACA has helped me become an aspiring business student with my college education. Before my permanent residency in 2016, I was unable to become part of programs such as Upward Bound, a high school program that guided students for college. I was unable to work and assist my mother financially and was held back from certain scholarships. When I received DACA, I received a work permit, had access to grants to assist me for my education. Without DACA, my first year in college would have been a huge risk with many loans from private corporations or banks that have high-interest rates. By being protected from deportation, and having my mother around, I became an astounding hard-working college student and a product of the Deferred Action of Childhood arrival. As an immigrant woman, and first generation, as well as the first female in my intermediate family to go to a university in America, witnessing these current events that affect immigrant women and also their families, outrages me.
As a young adult, it is my duty to keep encouraging and to counsel female immigrant students with how to manage their college education because that is what female empowerment means to me. Helping each other out and inspiring those who do not have hope
To empower immigrant women through difficult situations not only we must spread awareness and encouragement but we should write petitions to governors, keep voting, keep fighting for equal rights. In these letters, we must emphasize that women in our society cannot succeed if they are being held back when our president and his trustees belittle women and immigrants. Moreover, young women such as myself are the future, and they should not be held back no matter what their backgrounds. We must continue to protect our future which is our women.

Current Immigration Issues in US
Immigration has been one of the most talked about and major topics in the last decade or so. The purpose of this research paper is to educate myself and the reader over three main issues occurring concerning immigration. The three main issues and topics are demographics and economical impact, border security, and humanitarian concerns.
According to The U.S. Immigration Debate, in 1970 there were only about 10 million immigrants present in the US (Felter and Renwick 2018). Currently, breaking down the numbers, there are estimates of 1.7 million with some type of visa, roughly 11.1 million undocumented immigrants, 22.6 million lawfully present and 20.7 million naturalized citizens, totaling 43.3 million immigrants (CAP Immigration Team and Nicholson 2017). Using those statistics and recent trends in immigrant population, it is expected that by 2023, 14.8% of American population will be immigrants, it will continue to grow by 2060 (Camarota and Zeigler 2016). The majority of the immigrant population, specifically the undocumented population, reside in several states with larger populations. There are six states where 58% of undocumented immigrants reside in and include; California, Texas, New York, New Jersey, Florida and Illinois (Cohn, Krogstad, and Passel 2018). Their contribution to the economy and workforce is highly noticeable. They count for 17% of the workforce in America and within that percentage, there are about 750,000 people are DACA recipients are are eligible to work and attend school lawfully (CAP and Nicholson 2017). They also add $2 trillion dollars to the US economy.
One of the biggest issues that deal with immigration is border security. Within the last decade, in order to secure the border and obtain maximum efficiency, there has been a rise in border patrol staffing. As of 2015, DHS has sent air surveillance systems, underground motion sensors, mobile and remote surveillance systems as an effort to monitor the border (CAP and Nicholson 2017). In most recent times, in order to obtain funding for a wall to be built on the border, President Trump issued a national state of emergency. This is the latest effort to secure the border and stop illegal entry (DeBonis, Paletta and Wagner 2019).
Ethics and humanitarian concerns have become immigration related problems. People under DACA protection not having a permanent solution to their cases is an example. DACA(Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) was an executive decision done by President Obama in 2012 as an effort to support and help “DREAMERS” (Felter and Renwick 2018). The moral case for DACA is finding a permanent solution for them through the Dream Act, which would allow them permanent residence since the 750,000 people affected by it have been here for most of their lives(Carter 2017). Another humanitarian issue that has been most recent, is the separation of Central American families who arrived in a caravan in order to seek asylum and refugee status. Almost 60,000 unaccompanied minors and 78,000 people have tried to cross and were apprehended at the border. The rates of denial of asylum for them is relatively high, which brings the moral issue of whether denying them asylum gives them a death sentence if they return home.
Immigration is a huge topic among politics nowadays. It is important to stay educated on demographics, border security and ethical and humanitarian concerns.

The Vital Importance of DACA Program for Immigrants
Immigration is an action of movement from one environment into a foreign country. Many immigrants parents brought their children at a young age to America so that they can give their children’s a better life and a better education. Is their part to use it and take advantage of it. There’re teens out there who want to continue school after high school. “In 2012 Obama administration offered DACA, for a temporary relief from deportation.” (Batalova, Jeanne, Sarah Hooer, and Randy Capps). This program benefited a lot of young teens that were considered unauthorized immigrants. The teens that came to the United States as kids and found opportunities to continue school are on the DACA program. “The DACA program is the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.” (Sahay, Kashika Mohan). It is an American policy that permits a group of individuals who were brought to the United States illegally to be protected from deportation. These teens are called dreamers, they are under the DACA program that Obama created in 2012. Dream stands for “Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors” (Acuña, Rodolfo F.). Everyone in general should be treated equally, regardless of where they are from. All humans deserve the same opportunities.
Once they come to the United States their life style changes, at first is very challenging for them to adapt or get use to how Americans live. Immigrants enter the United States poorer than any American, they don’t have anything, they are basically starting from scratch and building up to improve their lives. “There about 1.8 million young immigrants in the United States who came or were brought to the country without documentation before the age of 16. These youth have been raised and educated in the United States and have aspirations and educational achievement similar to those of their native-born peers.” (Anaya, Yohualli Balderas-Medina, Mithi del Rosario, and David E. Hayes-Bautista.). America has always been the immigrant's dream. A few disadvantages that people who migrate from foreign countries is that they don’t speak English. It makes it hard for them to communicate with someone who doesn’t speak their language.
Although, these teens had high grades they weren’t qualified for federal aid, because of their residency status. College is more expensive for them and is hard for them to go to college just because they aren’t legal citizens. “The cost of their education to the state amounted to hundreds of thousands of dollars for each student. Deportations were like throwing these investments away, they represent the best of America society.” (Acuña, Rodolfo F.) Which is why I don’t think that the currently President which is Trump, should take away DACA. Is an application that protects these teens. An application that will help them accomplish their dreams and the goals of why they even came to the United States in the first place. They were young children whom didn’t know that they were migrating to another country. All the students whom are under the DACA program don’t deserve to be punished by erasing this program, that has helped them a lot in different ways. Just because the President detest immigrants shouldn’t be a reason of why he considers all of them bad people. These hard-working people aren’t doing anything wrong but trying to continue school. In fact, they are doing it for a good cause that will even help the economy in America.
Immigrants are most likely to take jobs in agriculture and construction, but not all do. Some have the opportunity to continue school meaning after high school, go to college and get a degree. The dreamers are the ones that even if they were born at another country, they demonstrate that, it doesn’t make them any less than any other American. In fact, they are Americans, because they’ve been in the United States since little. Some of the dreamers don’t even know anything of the country that they were born at, because the country they’ve live for most their life has been America. Kashika Mohan Sahay, Kari Thatcher, Cruz Nuñez and Alexandra Lightfoot are a group of high school students that came to the United States as kids and found opportunities on the DACA program.
The DACA program should be important to the United States as it is for the dreamers. Because these are students that are undocumented that are looking forward to going to college. Being under this program doesn’t consider them residents, but it gives them freedom for two years to not have to worry about being deported. In addition, this DACA program can also be somewhat complicated to the adolescence life in many different ways. Is a presidential action meaning a future president can discontinue it, or provide more chances. Is not permanent, they have to renewed it every two years, is not a way for residency or citizenship and the teens family can still get deported. But the DACA program also have benefits, you can obtain a driver license, might have the chance to travel outside the Unites States. “DACA defers deportation of eligible, undocumented youth and grants lawful presence in the United States, work permits, Social Security numbers, and, in most states, driver’s licenses.” (Anaya, Yohualli Balderas-Medina, Mithi del Rosario, and David E. Hayes-Bautista.). These teens parents didn’t finish school, so they give them advises on how they need to get a degree so that they won’t have to be working like they are. They have many ways to be successful in their school lives if they try.
There are a lot of reasons that motivates most immigrants to have an act of traveling to the United States. All immigrants have different reasons and different decisions. Some immigrants call America, “the land of opportunity.” Immigrants don’t just come to America for themselves but also for the well-being of their family. Immigrants are willing to do anything for a better life. They are very hardworking people who doesn’t come to the United States to harm others but to work, get an education and to give to our country. They deserve the same chances as any other American. Poor countries go through a lot of struggles, their lives aren’t easy as it seems to just talk about it. For example, there’s people who don’t want to work but just get things the easiest way by taking away from the ones who works their selves off for what they want and need to provide for themselves and family members. They don’t get pay well, their salary is not even close to the minimum wage in the United States. Once the parents get settle in the United States their first move is to look for a job. There are employees that will even take advantage of the immigrants and treat them like their slaves. But parents risk it all so that their children can have a better future.
I’m not an immigrant, but my parents came from a Central American country, El Salvador. And from what they’ve told me, I know that migrating to the United States for a better life is not easy at all. They go through tough situations just to get to a better place. Especially when they are crossing multiple borders and rivers to get to America. Some of their trips were like a nightmare. Leaving their families behind just so that their children can have a good education and become someone in life is hard, because knowing that you are so far away from them, yet you are trying to find a better life for your kids as well. Even knowing that you can only talk to them through the phone if you can afford a call and not being able to be physically with them is even harder. Just imagining teens being in all crowded and uncomfortable is horrible.
Their immigrant life was very though, that made most of them feel like coming to the United States made them appreciate the gift of life. Everyone has different experiences and stories, but it only takes the effort that they made to be where they are now. Many immigrants are grateful for everything they’ve accomplished and for what America has offered them. Some were fortunate to not be a refugee, but that doesn’t mean that you get to see them differently. It shouldn’t matter what country you came from, what matters is the sacrifice that they made to be successful in their future.
Education is very important for young teens because it helps them develop the English language. Is relevant in today society because their education outcomes increase, and they move to higher paying jobs. It modernizes the United States immigration system and provides unauthorized immigrants in the country today with a path to citizenship. Children’s growing up are attached to the United Sates, knowing that opportunities come hand in hand with cultural and social costs.
Immigrants are like the half of America, they help improve for the American workers and will increase the America growth income. They create business, turning their American dreams into American jobs. In fact, they don’t steal jobs, they often do the work that Americans do not want to do. Immigrants pay taxes and provide cultural diversity. In fact, immigration benefits most consumers and industries. Everyone should know how important immigration has become for America. “Immigrations play an important role in social and economic development.” (Hollifield, James, Philip L. Martin, and Pia Orrenius). Without immigrants living in America, will it still be America? They are an important to America, it helps build and strengths the economy. The DACA program, will benefit the United States in the future and it will help the dreamers get an education like any other American can. They deserve a chance to make them accomplish their dreams.

Dreamers Movement and DACA
America land of opportunity where dreams come true. Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) also known as the Dream Act, was created on June 15, 2012, by then-President Barack Obama. The program has then helped over 700,000 dreamers that were brought to the US as children. The Dream act gives exemption from deportation for a two-year period, while also giving them a two-year work permit. The requirements for applying to DACA are simple applicants must be at least 15 years old and under 31 years old. They must also have lived in the United States since June 15, 2007, with no criminal record. In September 2017, President Trump put an end to the program leaving many dreamers on a limbo. Dreamers are now facing many struggles mental health and the fear of having their families deported. The best solution for the dreamers is for Congress to enact a new law that would help dreamers become citizens of the United States Of America and give them work permits while their legal case is in process.
Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (Daca) has provided temporary relief to dreamers around the United States since the act was passed on December 8, 2010. The program has been through several changes in its policy. On multiple occasions, President Trump has mentioned making a halt on the program but was unable un 2017. In the article “What DACA Recipients Stand to Lose-and What States Can Do About It”, Silva Mathema emphasizes that “...Trump administration announced an end to DACA in September 2017 and started a clock on its phase-out”(Mathema) President Trump also specified that no new applications would be accepted and there would be a wind-down for current DACA enrollees.
When Trump and his administration ended DACA they specified that if the recipients permit would expire before March 5, 2018, they would be able to renew their permit for two more years. Only if the application was received by October 5, 2017. For example, DACA recipients whose status is set to expire in the following 12 months will need to considered renewing. In the article “Consideration of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals” indicates “USCIS is not accepting requests from individuals who have never before been granted deferred action under DACA.” ( USCIS) For those who have not applied for DACA it is too late, as the program has ended. Many dreamers now live in fear of being deported.
Another problem for immigrants is mental health, may live in fear of being separated from their families. For lots of Dreamers, there's more at stake than just College or a job they fear for their families being deported. Dreamers struggle with the fact that their families can be can be deported at any time and they may never see them again. In the article “How DACA Affects the Health of America's Children”, it states “Mental illness at such an early age can set the child on a path for a lifetime of challenges, from low education to dependence on welfare to poor physical health and substance abuse—personal struggles with high social costs”(How) Many children live in fear of going to school and never seeing their families again. They too also risk of being deported back to their countries to which many don’t even remember.
The best solution for this problem would be to enact a new law. The new act would protect dreamers from deportation, provide working permits, higher education, service in the armed forces, and also help with legal status. The requirements for applying for the new program would be similar to the old Dream act. First, Dreamers would have to be between the ages of 15-30, have no criminal record, and have been in the United States since 2000. Congress would have to agree and implement the new law. For Congress to be able to implement the new law the people would have to vote for candidates that support the Dream Act, but lots of people would oppose the idea
Of course, there would be lots of setbacks from the people, as they are afraid if they vote they would be allowing rapist, thieves, and murders become citizens. They also believe that dreamers will steal their jobs. Many people also believe that America is only for Americans and that immigrants seeking refuge shouldn’t be allowed in. In the article “Thank Trump if he Finally Ends the Unconstitutional DACA Program,” Hans von Spakovsky stresses that “...we have the right to decide who comes to the U.S.” (Spakovsky). But a reminder to Americans that they too at one point of there lineage, they too were immigrants that sought refuge from the persecution of religion. Another point for the new act would be that not only dreamers would benefit they too would.
If this solution would be to implement the United States economy would grow and there would be more jobs openings. In the article “8 DACA Statistics That Show How, Vital Dreamers Are To American Society” as stated by Mehreen Kasana “...employment has a positive impact on the American economy by increasing business creation and allowing Dreamers to open their own enterprises, creating more job opportunities.” (Kasana). This solution would be the best as it not only benefits dreamers it also benefits the United States economy.
At the age of five, I was brought to the United States along with my two sisters by my parents who wanted a better life for me. My mom never finished middle schools as her parents didn’t have enough money to send them to school. My dad was fortunate and had a family that could send him to school. After my parents got married my dad decided to work in the United States to be able to feed us and send us to school. Every six months my dad would go back to Mexico to visit us. Soon after I turned five my parents decided that it would be best if we moved to the United States as it was a lot safer for my family that was also starving. When we arrived here we were treated as if we were criminals when all we wanted was to survive and live the famous American dream, but it was not very easy. My family wasn’t able to go out as much, because we were afraid of being deported or worse separated. Every day we lived in fear and looking over our backs.
Finally, in 2012 my family seemed to catch a break, well my older sister did. My sister’s application was accepted for DACA, now it was only time before I could send my application in. During the time that I waited for my health slowly begin to deteriorate, I was afraid that the program would end or that I wouldn't be accepted. My dream to become an ER surgeon slowly started to fade, because I knew that I wouldn't be able to legally to receive my Licensure & Certification. But finally came the day that turned 15, the following week we submitted my applications and was accepted. As soon as I was accepted I enrolled to JTED to become a medical assistant. In 2017, my dreams shattered when it was announced that DACA would be ending. A couple months later it was stated that I could renew my permit for two more years.
In conclusion, one of the worst decisions President Trump has done during his presidency was to end the act. So far the best solution for dreamers is for a new law to be enacted that will protect their rights just as before and better. The program will help dreamers with their legal status while giving them permits for work. The program has helped thousands of immigrants that where brought to the United State when they were kids. They deserve a chance at what the American Dream can be.

Social Workers and the Protection of Immigrant and Refugee Rights
Problem Statement
According to Gensler (2017), DACA is the acronym for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which was implemented by the Obama administration in 2012. Undocumented children are brought to the United States by their parents at a young age, have lived in the United States most of their lives, and have attended elementary, middle and high school in the United States; as a result, undocumented children feel American at heart (Educators for Fair Consideration, 2012). In addition, “DACA is an American immigration policy that allows qualified undocumented youth access to relief from deportation, renewable work permits and temporary social security numbers” (Rodriguez, 2016). However, Donald Trump’s plan is for the DACA program to slowly come to an end. If the program is terminated it can jeopardize the lives of undocumented students. Although, their will not be immediate change in their status, they can be vulnerable if law is passed.
Undocumented youth now account for one-fourth of the nation’s 75 million children; by 2050 they are projected to make up one-third of more than 100 million US children (Tienda & Haskin, 2011). The undocumented youth/children who are placed in this position reflects their parents’ idea. As these children mature into adults, they adopt American customs and beliefs.
For that reason, it is imperative that social workers understand the endless challenges undocumented children face throughout their life (Rodriguez, 2016). Social workers should advocate for undocumented citizens to have better opportunities and resources. Social workers should also enhance their quality of life by helping undocumented citizens gain the tools they need to survive in America.
Literature Review
DACA is a great organization that provides educational benefits, economic opportunities and temporary relief for undocumented college students, but does not provide a long term solution and do not offer a pathway to legal citizenship (Rodriguez, 2016). However, DACA is only temporary solution for undocumented citizens. Undocumented college students continue to face a grey area due to their temporary legal status and unknown future in the US (Enriquez, Martha, Ro, 2018). Although programs DACA provide educational benefits, economic opportunities and temporary relief for undocumented college students, it does not provide a pathway for legalization or further benefit beyond college.
Research on immigrant illegality highlights how the consequences of documentation status are dependent on the broader policy context. Laws draw distinctions between sub-groups of undocumented immigrants who may be seen as more or less deserving of rights and opportunities (Enriquez et al., 2018). Each study reviewed gives an illusion of emotional situations undocumented citizens face daily. Almost every immigrant studied, faced signs of anxiety and stress in regards to their legal status. The mere state of being undocumented is viewed as a general stressor, without considering actual levels of stress or identifying dimensions of documentation status that contribute to overall stress levels (Enriquez et al., 2018). Furthermore, mental illness is overlooked amongst this population. Unfortunately, undocumented citizens are faced with stress before DACA, during DACA, and after DACA.
Results
Researchers already indicated that undocumented college students face identity stressors, barriers, fears, coping strategies, strengths, college life, and pre and post migration experience Rodriguez, 2016). There are risk factors to being an undocumented student such as mental and physical health issues. According to Deconstructing Immigrant Illegality (2018), “Most undocumented immigrants’ experience chronic stress, yet key questions about pathways to health remain” (Enriquez et al., 2018). Stress occurs when ones’ spot is undetermined or when they’re done with college and opportunities are very limited.
The results from each research equally raised a concern regarding the health and confidence of undocumented college students and their families. In addition, stress for this population is seen is many forms. One common stressor is their legal status. Moreover, undocumented immigrants are less likely to be open about their immigration status and they experience a great amount of poor health (Enriquez et al., 2018). Another common stressor found amongst undocumented citizens were their families and finances (Rodriguez, 2016). Between legal status, family, and finances these are the most common stressor found amongst undocumented citizens.
Relevance
Many people who have a slight mental illness are not aware that they have one, and unfortunately, this illness will continue until treated. Social workers advocate for those people whose voice may not be heard. In addition, social work can contribute to helping one who suffers with a mental illness by providing individual or group therapy. Even those who do not specialize are able to contact resources to help the individual with rehabilitation, crisis intervention and or other opportunities. It is imperative that social workers understand the endless challenges undocumented children face throughout their life (Rodriguez, 2016). Social workers should be aware and conscious as well as contributing to helping undocumented citizens who suffer from such circumstances.
Affected Your Views:
Each literature review gives insight to the extent of the assistance DACA offers immigrant citizens, but also educates its readers on stressors and anxiety. In this country, we are told that education is the gateway to success but after reading researching, it is understood that simply going to school is not enough. From the outside looking in, one would think that immigrants are guaranteed a better life once they are afforded a college education but that is not necessarily true. I will say, however, that struggling after school is not unique to immigrants. In fact, most people experience financial hardship during school and job insecurity after graduating but the effects of these struggles can have a more significant impact when your legal status in a country is at stake once you graduate. In a study conducted by Kosnac (2014) a recipient stated, ““I don’t want crumbs”,” I want the whole cake.”” This individual reflected how she feels in regards to DACA. Although, DACA contributes to some success, undocumented citizens are still excluded from living the entire American Dream.
Research Question and Hypothesis
From previous research founded in the literature review sections of this paper, it was determined that DACA individuals and their families suffer from anxiety. Due to Donald’s Trump position regarding DACA, undocumented immigrants experience a great amount of poor health. In addition, this may be the leading cause of issues in DACA individuals. Therefore, I expect to uncover the amount of anxiety DACA recipients face when dealing within Congress’ indecisive decisions in regards to the program. As the possibility of DACA’s termination is uncertain, anxiety amongst the dreamers will increase. The independent variable is the unreliability of the DACA program. The dependent variable is anxiety amongst dreamers.
Measurement
I will be using The Hamilton Anxiety Rating Sale (HARS) to measure the severity of anxiety symptoms. The independent variable is my study is the termination of DACA. The dependent variable is anxiety amongst dreamers. The HARS was first developed in 1959 by Max R Hamilton (Vaccarino, Evans & Kalali, 2008). However, over the decade the HARS has been modified from a five-point scale to a 14-point scale to give better indications of anxiety. Each point on the newest model is defined by a series of symptoms, and measures both psychic anxiety (mental agitation and psychological distress) and somatic anxiety (physical complaints related to anxiety) (Vaccarino et al., 2008). HARS can be used with certain population, but varies in age. HARS is intended to work with adults, adolescents, and children.
The stated purpose of the instrument is similar to the purpose of my study which is, “As the possibility of DACA’s termination becomes more likely, anxiety amongst the dreamers will increase”. This instrument is relevant to my research because this scale measures the severity of anxiety symptoms. The instrument can be used ethically because it does not discriminate on its population and it measures what it is suppose to measure within those populations (Vaccarino et al., 2008). According to The Hamilton Anxiety Scale (1988), “Among 97 panic disorder and 101 depressed patients, the reliability and the concurrent validity of HARS and its subscales proved to be sufficient (Maier, Buller, Philipp, & Heuser). Also, HARS can also be translated into common languages. I will be using the Ordinal Scale to receive results in regards to anxiety amongst undocumented students. I also conclude that it would take approximately 15 minutes for one to complete the assessment.
Ethical issues
Some ethical issues would be to obtain consent and data collection. I find that obtaining a consent form and collecting accurate data is ethical because all of these issues are important when conducting a study. Without these things in the study, the study would be considered invalid. Although there are many individuals that want their voices to be heard on the topic of DACA, there are also others that do not like to be in the spot light when it comes to personal issues like this. Therefore, I am assuming that it would be hard to obtain consent from individuals who are undocumented. Data collection could also be an ethical issue because although individuals gave consent, they are unware of how in depth the questionnaire may be, leading to falsify information. Another ethical issue that can occur is properly discussing research clearly so that nobody takes offense. It is important to be mindful of all individuals who have taken the questionnaire study.

Importance of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)
The topic of illegal immigration and non-citizens has always been up to debate among the people of the United States. With illegal immigration continuing to be an ongoing issue it has also affected the program Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals also known as DACA. The program has been on the edge of being terminated due to our political representatives arguing to end it because of the stigma of being an illegal immigrant or a non-citizen. To this matter, DACA students who are attending school are on the verge of having their education taken away. Being a non-citizen student affects the aspiration to achieve a higher education; it becomes difficult and comes with a lot more challenges than a typical student pursuing education.
For many undocumented students, they took advantage of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). This program specializes in helping non-citizen students obtaining a stay for a temporary time, created by former President Obama in 2012 to help immigrant students pursue an education. In order for an individual to qualify one must have arrived in the U.S before the age of sixteen; be currently enrolled in school or in the armed forces or have already completed high school. This gave the opportunity for many immigrant students to go beyond their expectations, allowing many to obtain residency for a temporary time (Renewal every 2 years.) and even holding jobs. The program has helped many non-citizen students obtain a higher education, which provides them with a stable career.
With the inauguration of President Donald Trump many fear from being deported along with their education being at stake. For non-citizen students, they could be deported due to entering “illegally” being a “crime”; leaving their education accomplishments behind. Donald Trump has also made it clear where he stands, stating that his administration will withhold federal funds from any local government that refuses to hand over undocumented immigrants in its custody. Furthermore, Trump has vowed to remove all of the protective executive orders that Obama put in place. This includes orders like Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). For undocumented students that attend school are in fear due to the possibility of their school turning them in. DACA students also fear the possibility of their personal information being over turned to federal government, which is why many remain a low profile or don’t want to enroll into colleges. Not only is this mentally interfering with them, but their education is almost an impossibility to reach.
Since becoming president, Donald Trump, has had a huge impact in the immigrant society of education, without DACA, eliminating this act would stop protection to individuals who contribute to the society, it increases productivity, and diversity. Though the program has had some disadvantages, the advantages beat the drawbacks, it is why we can’t eliminate this act. It is reported that wages of survey respondents have increased by an average of 42 percent since they received DACA. Not only are they financially able to be stable but they are able to contribute to state tax, which increases our economy growth. It is proven that DACA students have higher education percentage in earning a Bachelor’s degree. Not only does it show that non-immigrants students are able to succeed once they received educational benefits but with a higher education they are able to sustain a job that pays higher than the average minimum wage. It is also reported from ITEP in March 2017, it found 11 million undocumented immigrants living and working in the United States, they had contributed more than $11.74 billion in state and local taxes.
The report examined the state and local tax contributors of immigrants that are currently enrolled or immediately eligible for DACA. If Trump ends the program not only would the country be losing millions of dollars but it would make a huge impact in our society and our economy. While it is true that not all illegal immigrant pay taxes like all other good citizens, more than half of undocumented immigrants do contribute to taxes. It would be an understatement to say the least that non-citizen individuals and students don’t contribute to taxes. Instead they help the supply and demand system with local government services by paying sales and property taxes, many are unaware of this action. They contribute a drastic amount to our country while in return we limit their education. Many DACA students contribute to our society, but educational benefits still continue to be a barrier for them.
It has also been shown that for non-citizen students after receiving DACA, “69 percent of respondents reported moving to a job with better pay; 54 percent moved to a job that “better fits my education and training”; 54 percent moved to a job that “better fits my long-term career goals”; and 56 percent moved to a job with better working conditions”. The report has shown that DACA students were able to maneuver through the obstacles and were able to succeed with the help of the program.
Aspiration to reach a higher education for non-citizen students has become a barrier in the United States. Many non-citizen students face hardship due to not having the same rights and access as any other citizen student. While they don’t have many resources out there to help them with their educational goals, DACA, has helped make a difference in non-citizen students to obtain a form of education, and removing it will ambush the dreams that many non-citizen students have perceived. Education is key, providing access to educational resources will give many non-citizen students opportunities to succeed resulting in better jobs. Granting citizenship to non-citizen immigrants who are currently attending school would allow them to reach their educational goals to their full potential. Many of these students have worked so hard to reach to where they are at, eliminating DACA will only shortened the access to education and will only create more barriers and limits to what they are “allowed” too.

DACA and the Dream Act
“‘My immediate thought was that I have to quit school and start working two jobs, so that if I go back to Mexico, I have my money, I have something to start with so I wouldn’t have to be living in the streets. I don’t want to live in the streets,” said Franco. “At the same time, I have faith that people will step up and be compassionate.’” (Longmeyer, 2017).
This is snippet of an interview with a student Maria Franco, within a University of Missouri-Kansas City newspaper article titled “Dreamers at UMKC face uncertain future” written by Justin Longmeyer. This interview was conducted when there was much heated controversy over the continuation of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The University of California Berkeley defines DACA on their information webpage as “a kind of administrative relief from deportation. The purpose of DACA is to protect eligible immigrant youth who came to the United States when they were children from deportation”.
The future of the DACA program has been less than clear. Longmeyer states in his article that, “the Trump administration announced an end to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program last week” (2017). This announcement was deafening across the country as seen within Franco’s interview, which is full of survival rhetoric, because she was mentally preparing for deportation. Longmeyer continues, “recipients of the DACA program will be vulnerable to deportation if Congress is unable to pass legislation protecting them within the six-month timeframe” (2017). My first exposure to the DACA program was within Dr. Clara Irazabal-Zurita’s Latinx studies course. I was twenty-one years old, and knew nothing of this important program. I began asking my family and friends if they knew what DACA was, and many of them gave me a blank stare. This is why I think discussing the DACA program within this reflection paper is so important. I think some people who are born within the United States live ignorantly of immigration policies because they themselves cannot relate. In my opinion within this current political climate there is no excuse to live in ignorance. Everyone should be familiar the various United States immigration policies, whether they agree or disagree with them. In this paper I will discuss the beginnings of the DACA program, the current decision over DACA, symbolism racism, and the possible solutions published within the tenth course lecture.
DACA Beginnings:
According to a report “The Dream Act, DACA, and Other Policies Designed to Protect Dreamers” by the Immigration Policy Center, “ the first version of the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act was introduced in 2001” (2017). This Act was developed to serve the similar purpose of DACA, but was never passed as a law, due to this the Obama administration developed a way to still provide protection from deportation for child immigrants (Immigration Policy Center, 2017). There were strict guidelines for immigrants to apply for DACA such as the applicant had to have “entered the country prior to their sixteenth birthday, have lived continuously in the US for at least five years, have not been convicted of a felony or serious misdemeanor, are currently in school” (Wood, 2018). The report discusses the change in leadership within the Homeland Security and eventually “Elaine Duke rescinded the 2012 DACA memorandum and announced a ‘wind down’ of DACA” (Immigration Policy Center, 2017). This announcement sent shock waves through the country. According to the lecture “Impact of Immigration”, “today, total foreign-born population is roughly 40 million people [and] 27 percent are unauthorized immigrants” (Wood, 2018). Just to understand just how many individuals this action could be affecting. Although, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service release the most current decision on DACA is, “due to federal court orders, USCIS has resumed accepting requests to renew a grant of deferred action under DACA. USCIS is not accepting requests from individuals who have never before been granted deferred action under DACA”. For now, past recipients can reapply.
Symbolism Racism:
I have experience first hand that a common misconception surrounding DACA recipients is that it is primarily for Latinx immigrants. This of course is not true. As the lecture states, “political rhetoric has made the term ‘immigrant’ virtually synonymous with the term ‘criminal’” (Wood, 2018). I believe the group that is most often protrayed as a criminal with the news media would be the Latinx immigrant population. Therefore, many United States residents attribute the immigrantion discusion to this group. This is extremely problamatic, because now the Latinx population is becoming stigmatized. Meaning if a person is speaking Spanish in public, there is a good chance someone is assuming they are an undocumented individual, and who is a “danger” to society. Due to the current administration’s rhetoric surrounding these policies, and the hyperfocus on immigration policies Latinx groups are being targeted by government agencies to investigate their citizenship status. According to the article “Illegality: A Contemporary Portrait of Immigration” by Roberto G. Gonzales and Steven Raphael “cooperation between ICE and local law enforcement under 287(g) agreements and Secure Communities had created an immigration dragnet, snaring immigrants for improper lane changes and countless other noncriminal offenses” (2). This practice is like that of “Arizona’s SB 1070, which allowed officers to: make a reasonable attempt to determine the immigration status of a person stopped Detain or arrest if there is reasonable suspicion that a person is in the country illegally” (Wood, 2018). Practices such as these promote discrimatory and hateful rhetoric specifically torwards Latinx groups. As brought up in the lecture an important question is “why do Americans respond more harshly to Latino immigrants than European immigrants?” (Wood, 2018). I think these practices and rhetoric surrounding them are some of the reasons this attitude exsists within the United States.
Important Considerations:
I believe the majority of undocumented immigrants are just trying to escape from adversities with their native countries, and “seeking the American Dream of prosperity, security, and success” (Wood, 2018). An article written by Katharine M. Donato and Samantha L. Perez discuss “the factors that push children to migrate” (117). Some of their findings were that, “three stand out: violence, family separation and reunification, and limited economic opportunity. Among these, drug- related and organized crime- style violence has been well documented” (Donato and Perez, 117). This is important aspect to consider for DACA recipiants, if they are deported to their native country they could be coming back to a place of violence and poor living conitions. Especially if they came to the United States when they were young. As Franco states within her interview, “‘if I am ever deported and go back to my country, I’m going to be discriminated against because I don’t know how to speak Spanish as fluently as everyone in Mexico. I was raised in this culture and I’ve been assimilated’” (Longmeyer, 2017).
Possible Solutions:
The lecture that referrs to the work of Cyndy Caravelis, PhD and Matthew Robinson, PhD propose some key solutions to the problems within the immigration system. One the stood out to me was, “increase representative nature of law making—today the lawmaking process is biased in favor of some people and interests and against others. This must change if we hope to achieve socially just criminal justice agencies” ( Caravelis, et al., 2015). This is an important point, that many aspects of the U.S. governement are swayed by the influence of powerful and wealthy groups. Therefore, other groups that are painted as “criminals” are not as likely to have an equal chance at representation. However, the impact of social movement should not be ignored. Across the nation groups have been lobbying to change the direction of the DACA program, to ensrue its exsistance or creation of a new remedy. Even within the UMKC campus many groups are participating in the movement. I believe the effort of this group helped the passing of the decion to allow DACA recipiantants to renew their stauts.
Conclusion:
I believe that the United States has a long journey ahead within immigration polices, but I have hope that people will continue to lobby for fair treatment of immigrant groups. Although, I do not envy those in power that are making these decisions. It would be a difficult job to find policies that are fair and also best for the country. I believe there has to be a solution that can do both, becasue the United States was founded by immigrant groups and is now one of the most powerful countries in the world. Surely, we can do it again.

Life-saving Advantages of Technology
A single mom with 3 kids and no babysitter getting stuck in traffic. An older woman having a weak immune system and not wanting to put her health in danger because of coronavirus or to prevent future outbreaks. The inconvenience driving an hour away and having to wait 30 minutes to get your name called back. These people all have similar qualities in common. Convenience, their lack of being able to get to their appointment, not being able to make an appointment with their care provider because they're booked, and simply their appointment being too far away. These circumstances are not accepted. This essay will help provide information on current and future technologies in the health care field using telehealth services, and precision medicine from video calls to a quicker and more efficient way of receiving the medicine.
According to health.clevelandclinic.org 'During the year of 2019, over 6,000 patients were able to have a doctor's appointment over the phone due to technology advancing. Not to mention, 12,000 people have died because of entirely avoidable errors' with phone appointments today this event will help administer care from a distance proving easy access to your doctor. Henceforward, if a patient cancels an appointment or is unable to attend due to factor a lack of transportation, those who are eligible to meet via phone can schedule a telehealth appointment with their provider instead. For most patients, online meetings are accessible and often take just minutes. According to aarp.org 'These interventions vary from self-help programs, video conferencing, self-support groups, and professional-led online therapy.'
For patients who just received surgery doctors typically need to check in with patients one or two days after a surgical procedure, most of the time to check-in and make sure everything is going smoothly. Advancing programs such as video chat grant itself ideally to this situation because it gives patients and providers a way to check in quickly allowing post-op patients to ask any questions they might have, and helping the physician make sure patients remain on their post-op regimen. For example, If I live in Atlanta Ga, and I'm looking for someone who specializes in weight loss surgery the nearest surgeon could be in Tennessee. In this scenario, a local weight loss center would be more efficient for a telehealth “visit” with a specialist, rather than one who might be in a larger city. This again promotes increased access to doctors.
With technology advancing rapidly you will be able to receive precision medicine. Precision medicine is an approach to patient care that allows doctors to select treatments that are most likely based on genetic understanding. According to fda.gov “precision medicine is deterministic, often with a gene-centric approach, while preventive medicine is probabilistic and applies to common conditions such as hypertension and hyperlipidemia” Hypertension is caused by diabetes, high cholesterol, etc. People who have hypertension will be affected the most it will make medicine based on your ancestry and medical records. The interesting thing to me is how it will take away side effects based on your background.
Nevertheless, Technology has changed the way we socialize, workout, play games, and even work. According to healthcarebusniess.org, 'The future of healthcare combines data on a patient's medical history, real-time health, insurance coverage, and financial information all to support provider decision-making, improve patient health, and reduce costs'. Healthcare technology is helping people live longer, decreasing wait times and making it more accessible for doctors to diagnose diseases. Not to mention, social distancing. Social distancing is very important when it comes to staying inside with the coronavirus you still must live your everyday life such as newborns getting a checkup or just having questions about your health or your child. Today, Telemedicine is one of the alternatives in communities that are turning to avoid overwhelming hospitals with unruly patients making their treatment faster and easier which allows doctors to use telehealth to communicate to their patients to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Research shows that after high statistics of patients using telehealth a decrease in deaths. In conjunction, with this decline doctors show how much they love using telehealth by advertising it on social media, commercials, etc. Giving patients the ability to discuss with their doctors online makes their healthcare experience far more efficient and personalized. Telephone usage keeps patients engaged in their health throughout their journey and helps enhance health awareness. In the end, this study revealed that consulting with your doctor via phone and taking personalized medicine is less costly and accessible for everyone, especially during the coronavirus.

Advantages of Technology in the Hospitality Industry
Within past years, increased access to technology has changed the hospitality industry in more ways than one. From the way fast food workers prepare meals to AI technologies in hospitals, the impacts of technological advancements are taking the service industry by storm. Advancing technologies can take an establishment from four to five stars, taking stress off of employees and simplifying the customer experience. From financial savings to a reduced work load for staff members, technological advancements in the hospitality industry offer new and changing alternatives to the ways things have always been done.
As stated even a decade and a half ago in the International Journal of Hospitality Management, the main objective of utilizing information technology (IT) in the lodging industry is to improve productivity (Ham, 2005). Throughout the study summarized within the journal, it is recorded and found that within the US and internationally, there is evidence to support that IT advancements in the “back end” of hotels and similar service establishments have excellent positive effects. On the other hand, technological advancements in relation to guest interaction yield less of those same results. Significantly seen in higher end hotels and establishments, this means that IT advancements may make processing and administrative work a smoother experience, but guests still prefer to have human interaction when it comes to experience-based stays.
On the side of productivity that the guest rarely sees, environmental sustainability is making strides in the hospitality industry for more than the idea of going green. While green based practices are celebrated by guests (and may even draw more in), there are numerous advantages to advancing technology in an ever evolving world. Jeffery Smith, Vice President Sustainability at Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, states his viewpoint on Hospitality Net by addressing the possibilities that incorporating sustainable technologies in our hotels could offer. Most traditionally speaking, there is of course a financial draw to becoming more sustainable. Smith explains that utilities are the second highest cost to a hotel, and that by introducing energy conservation methods, the industry can not only reduce its carbon footprint but also its utility bill (Hospitality Net, 2019).
Furthermore, Smith dives into the concept of occupancy sensors and room automation. Citing the Hilton brand member app, guests are exposed to sustainability in a way that directly benefits them: by incentivizing utilizing occupancy settings through allowing clients to earn reward perks when they do their part. In this way, guests are able to lessen their own environmental impacts and earn instant gratification for it, too. Likewise, José Koechlin von Stein, founder and CEO of Inkaterra Hotels, contributes that travelers are often fueled by research, conservation, and authenticity. Changes implemented by Inkaterra through their collaboration of “Sustainable Machu Picchu” have given new life to a region that was once on its way to the top of UNESCO's “Patrimony at Risk” list. Since beginning efforts in 1975, Koechlin and Inkaterra have incorporated waste-reducing concepts into the area. Along with reducing the wastage of nearly 2,000 liters of used cooking oil on a monthly basis, the addition of a compacting machine is capable of processing up to “14 tons of plastic waste each day,” (Hospitality Net, 2019). Furthermore, organic waste materials have also become transformed: high temperatures achieved through a pyrolysis plant are capable of decomposing the waste into Bio-char, a soil described by Koechlin as “a nutrient-rich … amendment used for local high-mountain agriculture and forest restoration.” It is clear that entering this year, the biggest concept on the forefront of everyone’s mind when it comes to technological advancements in the hospitality industry is the ability to minimize our future environmental turmoil on the Earth. Going green has become much more than installing solar panels and turning lights off, it is now a movement made possible by IT advancements.
On the other end of things, guests are also critical facets of advanced technology integration in the industry. As mentioned previously, guests are not generally looking for a human-free experience, but are beginning to expect a higher standard of technological capabilities when visiting a hotel. A more connected and responsive connection between staff, guests, and the experience itself is becoming the new norm. Megan Pope of INTELITY, the self-titled global provider of the broadest enterprise guest experience and management, shares the expansive real-world network of the Internet of Things, or IoT. The concept of IoT is revolutionary in providing the most personalized and personable experience that our industry has ever been able to offer.
The Internet of Things encompasses over 26 billion devices worldwide that collect and transmit information and data in real time, and that number is expected to nearly triple in the next five years (Pope, 2020). In the up-and-coming technological era that is developing the hospitality industry, seamlessly incorporating IoT in order to best serve both staff and guests will soon separate the most and least successful establishments. Examples of IoT in the hospitality industry can be using their own devices for remote check in, unlocking room doors, communicating with staff, and adjusting TV, room, and reservation preferences. Automating guest room controls and autonomous occupancy monitoring are technological advancements that have never been feasible before, but are now transforming the industry. From reducing emissions and carbon footprints to changing the entirety of a guest’s customizable experience, changing technologies ensure that the industry never gets old school.
From staff to guests, next door and across the globe, the implementation of technology in the hospitality industry allows for a simpler and more functional interface for communication, sustainability, and an undoubted long term importance.

Advantages of Technology Trends
In today’s society there are many technology trends that not only we as Americans use every day but the whole world uses on a daily basis. Today as we know it life on earth is evolving rapidly. It is important that we understand this change and try to adapt as fast as possible. If we educate our youth of this change early than they will have better understanding to this drastic change by the time they are adults. Today's technology trends are spread out into a wide variety of groups, the main topics are the idea of the digital mesh, the progression of smart machines and the ever evolving new IT reality.
The first example is the idea of Digital Mesh. The digital mesh is the collection of devices including things, information, apps, services, businesses and other people that exist around the individual. As the digital mesh evolves, all devices including, information, resources, businesses, and individuals will be interconnected. One of the biggest examples of Digital mesh today is the company Uber.
Uber is an app for smartphones that lets users request rides from drivers for the company. Users can see how far away the driver is as well as ratings and reviews. Over the past 3 years Uber has developed into a multi million dollar industry. Now some people may not believe Uber to be a digital mesh but just in the past year there is evidence to prove that it is digital mesh. In order for something to become a digital mesh it must have room for improvements. Uber has since made the upgrade with the launch of Uber Eats. People can use Uber Eats to have food from anywhere delivered right to their door. Uber has used the “power grid” in metropolitan areas to better their success. Once you get that grid on phones and in people's pockets in big cities the industry is bound to strive.
The next technology trend is the development of smart machines. Smart machines have made the aspect of life for humans much easier. Nowadays it seems as if everything can be done faster and better by a machine or computer. Smart machines are are a new level of intelligence. Decision making becomes a lot easier from machines that most require a high structured data grid to help in the deciphering of a more complex text. These smart machines also have self awareness. With this much self awareness many believe that smart machines will be able to work way beyond the human level. With that being said many experts believe this theory to still be three to four decades away. Researchers also believe that smart machines will be able to work beyond human capability. There are many different advantages to using smart machines. Smart Machines have the ability to manufacture products and goods at a fast rate or high quantity and still have no human standing beside it.
Smart machines can help an individual locate any type of information needed in a short amount of time. Also, smart machines are super-efficient. they can help you locate something that you do not know where it is at. they also can help find your way home to your home or someone else's. if you don't know how far something is away you can track how far it is before you leave or even track as you go. Smart machine communication has grown over the years tremendously. Smart machine communication originally emerged from telemetry technology, and its main purpose was to measure data and automatically transmit it from remote sources typically by cable or radio.
However, today individuals can do this using their smart machines. Intermachine communication has grown over the years and can perceive things better than humans. Human profiling can now be done using the internet. this is referred to as machine profiling. This is also very unsafe because random people can obtain confidential information pertaining to a specific human through machine profiling.
The last technology trend is the new IT reality. The new IT reality is ran by the main branch Multi-Cloud. Multi-Cloud should lead with a proven, reliable network. This leads to a well architected source. Some of these tasks include movement of applications from one provider to another, power to flexibly switch cloud providers and develope best case scenarios for new cloud applications.
Technology is developing every day at a record speed. It is important for us as humans in the era of the machine that we are prepared and learning about how technology is transforming. Today's youth are going to have the most difficult time with this change due to by the time they have children of their own the possibility of flying elevated cars is a real scenario. We take that as a joke now but many experts do believe that it is possible.
The new IT reality also relates to the use of communication today. Like for example the new IPhones from Apple. They now have the option to use face recognition to unlock your phone. It keeps going from there, self driving cars, contact lenses with built in computers you name it. Although Many people are having a tough time adapting to this new way of life. Pretty soon this way of life will not be a new way of life but the only way of life.
In conclusion technology is changing everyday, whether we like it or not it is important that we as humans make sure we can adapt to this change. Many people often wonder ... Will our kids have hover cars or will their phones be as thin as a piece of paper maybe they won’t have a phone at all. Maybe the screen will pop out of their palm like a projection. We may never know the answer to these questions but if we are able to adapt to the changes when they come then maybe our youth will be the next inventors with the next change of technology in generations to come.

The Impact and Advantages of Technology
Technology has affected the world greatly over the last couple of decades. From the first cell phone, to the automated drone that drops your food off. There are many positive effects of technology & a handful of negative things, I’ll get into details in a seconds. World Trade, one of the biggest privileges of technology.
World Trade has many advantages that are very beneficial. For example, Export create jobs & boost economic growth. They give domestic companies more experience in producing for foreign marks, & keep in mind, Imports allow foreign competition to reduce prices for consumers. It opens up more seats for new jobs that need to be done. For example, Columbia buys million oranges from Brazil, now Columbia is full of oranges. What happens to the oranges? It now has opened a business of orange vending. More jobs, means more money- better the economy.
Technology is shaping our learning institutions with fast, simple, & easy to learn online classes. The cost on online classes plummet compared to in-class learning. No need to pay for expensive textbooks, or commuting costs, sometimes even course materials etc. It's very convenient & flexible, Students can study or work in their convenience. Or simple trivia knowledge of tutorials on Youtube that doesn't cost a cent. Maybe your trying to build a birdhouse, and you quite dont know how to start, just pop on a Youtube tutorial guide. Its simple, fast & and easy to do - no need to get frustrated over a birds nest when you have tutorials.
Medical Treatment, very important aspect to our daily lives has changed since technology took over. Its make treatments more accessible & better. Health It opens up many more avenues of exploration & research. Improves Care and Efficiency. The use of information technology has made patient care safer & more reliable in most applications.
Technology has also made many machines that help in detecting viruses, diseases, visual outlook of inside the body & many more to come. For example in a CT [ct-scan] take pictures of your internal body structures like an X-RAY. CT scans, & X-ray structures of medical concern are often obscured by other organs or bones, making diagnosis difficult.
In conclusion, technology has a positive impact on society because of things like World Trade, Education & Medical Treatment. These are 3 very important roles that is necessary in this day in age. What do you think about the positive effects of technology, or do you think there’s more negative outcomes to technology than positives?

Artificial Intelligence is the Future
AI technology continues to grow at an unprecedented rate and is more prevalent in our daily lives than ever. Amazon’s Alexa, driver assist, driverless cars, and computer algorithms are a few examples of how this innovative technology is quickly infiltrating society. There are concerns about how this technology will affect our future. The counter-argument for rapid AI development is that if it is not properly regulated it can have negative long-term implications for our society by taking human jobs or even result it massive destruction. The United States must rapidly invest time and resources in AI development because adversarial nations continue to develop AI, there is significant AI potential in the healthcare field, and the arguments against development are often shrouded in misinformation.
Our adversaries fully understand the potential to gain a marked advantage over us with AI and the more advanced artificial general intelligence (AGI). The difference between AI and AGI is that while AI has one specific task AGI has a much more broadly programmed mission. “The Chinese government has invested heavily in multi-year technological campaigns aimed at supercharging a domestic AI market the country [projects] could be worth $150 billion by 2020.”1 Furthermore, the Russian government made it clear that they can make up for their military and economic shortcomings through AGI development. Russian President, Vladimir Putin, claimed that AI is, “‘the future, not only for Russia, but for all humankind’”2 and “that the nation that ‘becomes the leader in this sphere will become the ruler of the world.’”2 Without a doubt, our adversaries understand the advantages of AI and are poised to take full advantage of the technology. Regardless of the fears of unchecked AI development, the United States government must remain competitive in this field or face the consequences of a severely degraded national defense posture. In addition to national defense, AI can improve other crucial fields such as healthcare.
AI is already changing healthcare. It increases patient health data analysis effectiveness. This AI data interpretation leads to quick and accurate diagnoses. With proper development, this technology is expected to drastically reduce human error and eventually replace human healthcare specialists altogether.3 Cancer treatment and the curing of neurological issues that have always eluded us are examples of how AI tech has the potential to save countless lives. The United States’ healthcare system is bound to be years behind its potential and fall behind other nations devoting more time and resources to AI development. Underlying these arguments for rapid AI development are the counterarguments largely based in ungrounded opinons.
The argument here is not that the future of AI will not be disruptive in some form. It most certainly will be. However, our competitors are developing this technology rapidly, so the commonplace societal myths should be adressed. The idea that AI can become self-aware and turn evil is a legitimate concern. An evil AI system could result in human suffering in mass. The truth is that AI will be extremely good at accomplishing its goals and the proper concern should be that it would learn to accomplish its goals by any means necessary. The most efficient means of doing so may seem immoral to humans, but to the AI it is simply accomplishing its goal in the most efficient manner. Another common concern is that AGI is only a few years away. The truth is that AGI is actually decades away. This timeline is a good thing because it gives us the ability to properly research AGI safetynets as the technology continues to grow.
AI/AGI development and growing prevalence is inevitable. Adversarial nations such as China and Russia fully understand the importance of AI research and development. We can drastically improve healthcare with AI/AGI medical technology. Fully addressing the AI concerns and misnomers is an important step to proceeding with the technology’s development without delay. The United States must realize the importance of this technology and invest more time, money, and all available resources to its rapid development. Our security and health depend on it.

The Impact of Technology on Children Today
For decades, technology has continued to progress in every field possible. A society that once used a basic keypad phone are now using smart phones with the capacity of acting as handheld computers. Electronics is a form of technology that can extend and achieve various tasks in individuals’ day by day life. It has allowed an individual to multitask on the go, but to some it’s become an extension of their body and identity, especially to the children. With the rapid growth of technology and people’s busy lives, everybody is becoming heavily dependent on technology to make their lives simpler. Most of today’s parents are using electronic gadgets to occupy their children while they tend to their everyday tasks without being mindful of the effects it has on their children’s development. According to the article, “Children, wired- for better and for worse,” the effect of technology depends on what type of technology is being used, how much of it is being consumed and for how long are we consuming the information (Bavelier, green, Dye, 2012). Therefore, parents should limit their children’s daily usage of electronics and instead encourage activities that will benefit the child’s development.
As noted, there is nothing wrong with the consumption of technology but that all depends on the type of technology, how much of it is being consumed and the amount of time it’s being used. Before declaring the obvious negative effects on children, let’s not forget that technology enhanced the decision-making and problem-solving region of the brain while improving their basic attentional, motor and visual skills. Today, many young millennials have technological advancements more than an entire generation that came before them. The usage of electronics in the classrooms is becoming progressively noticeable every year. It has allowed teachers to pass similarly more information in a shorter time than what was traditionally possible. The electronic gadgets have enabled children to attain an abundant amount of knowledge, allowed them to be more independent and also gave them access to educational resources (Alghamdi,2017). For instance, a number of shows like ‘Sesame Street’, ‘Dora the Explorer’ and ‘PAW Patrol’, have been correlated with positive outcomes such as vocabulary sizes, school readiness, numeracy skills, and language skills.
However, not all technology intended for children have positive outcomes. On the contrary noneducational children television shows appears to have a negative effect. According to the article, “Child, wired-for better and for worse,” for a show to be effective “…. early intervention programs need not only engage the young viewer, but they must also elicit direct participation from the child, provide a strong language model, avoid overloading the child with distracting stimulation, and include a well-articulated narrative structure. In addition, effective educational shows also exemplify how to resolve social conflicts and productively manage disagreements and frustration (Bavelier, Dye, Green, 2011). Nonetheless, noneffective shows such as ‘Teletubbies’ that has been linked to reduction in language skills which is shown to lack these fundamental criteria that is crucially needed to shape a child’s development as academic content would.
In addition, not only has children’s television shows become a growing problem but another concern regarding the influence of technology is the potential for it to cause an increase in behavioral aggression and violence amongst children. Regardless whether it is through television or video games, kids are frequently exposed to violent media. Depending on the content of their experiences, children start to create beliefs about social standards and acceptable behaviors. Therefore, any activity that elevates violence is probably going to be a hazard factor for violent behavior as he/she continues into adulthood. Based on the article, “Violence, Media Effects, and Criminology,” over a thousand studies on the effects of TV and film violence throughout the past forty years has shown an increase in aggression, and social anxiety, and negatively view on the world (Phillips,2017). Excessive exposure to violence media has proceed into real-life aggression and violence.
Consequently, the numbers of mass shootings among youngsters has skyrocketed throughout the years. In a world that is overrun by technology, criminologists are now having to study the correlation between media and real-life aggression and violence. On July 22, 2016, an eighteen-year-old shooter killed nine people at a mall in Munich, Germany. While under psychiatric care, they discovered his two obsessions that included mass shootings and video games (phillips,2017). Clearly, media violence can lead to violence in the real world but yet few scholars’ state that the evidence doesn’t support the claim. However, similar mass shooter for instance Nikolas Herald, a seventeen-year-old boy who killed seventeen people inside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High, played violent video games incessantly up to fifteen hours per day. While not all high-profile criminal incidents are associated with violent media content its foolish not to consider it has one of major influence towards those crimes.
In the same way, technology has been beneficial to a child’s development it will also led to a long-lasting negative effect. It has advanced today’s children in a variety of ways yet excessive usage will hinder them tremendously.

Abortion is a Problem to be Solved, not a Moral Issue
Why is it that when a man kills a pregnant women it counts as 2 counts of murder, but if a pregnant woman doesn't count as it doesn’t count as a murder but yet she is killing her own child? Is that even fair to that baby that was murdered without reason to be killed? Many pregnant women don't want to have a baby so they will go to the abortion clinics and just go and kill their child. That? not the saddest part the saddest part is that they don't hurt their baby but they hurt their own body and mind. Even if they don´t know that or don't care they will always have that in their conscience or their state of mind.
Many catholic and Non- Catholics that still believe that those human beings and many Catholics believe and we should all believe that in the principles of the catholic faith it says that all catholics should agree and believe that ¨all life is sacred from conception to natural death and taking the life of an innocent human being, whether born or unborn it? still morally wrong”.
During the walks for life which are normally held all over the world and the nearest ones to this central valley is San Francisco. In the walks for life a lot of people think that only adults go to support life but if you go to pro-life websites you will see pictures from the walk for life with little newborn babies and with toddlers outside in the cold but their parents support life and take their children to the walks to teach their children to support life. That’s what’s we should all do is support life. Babies should not have to suffer death and should have the right to live too. Would you have wanted your parents to kill you and you could not have done anything to save yourself? Obviously not because you didn’t have a choice and were a baby and didn’t really know what was going on in that moment.
Other women don’t think in their children they just think in their own body. It doesn’t only affect women and their baby but it also affects the women mentally. Maybe they don’t care that moment that they did it but one day they will finally recognize what they did was wrong because they murdered their own child which is wrong but might not notice yet. This also goes along with the golden rule which is that “Treat others the way you would like to be treated”.But many women think it’s just about themselves. Not many women believe that it’s not right to kill your child but many women believe that killing their child is wrong but this is because the people working in abortion clinics tell all the women that “It’s just a tissue and some cells” which is not true it’s a living human. Almost 3 thousand abortions are unfortunately done each day.
The way the process works doesn’t just hurt the women but also hurts the baby. One of the women that did this tragedy shared what she did and explains that it’s very traumatizing even tho you might not know what you are doing. The conclusion is just that a baby “is not a choice it’s a child”! Women can’t just decide that they don’t want their child and go to an abortion clinic and just say I really can’t take care of my baby so i'm here to kill it. Maybe they can’t actually take care of their child but an option is to put it in adoption. Many women might want to have a child but can’t and goes and adopts a kid.Abortion also lowers the amount of kids in orphanages.Babies should also have the choice to live and have a wonderful life

Arguments against Abortion
In this paper I will be arguing affirmative that abortion is not right or moral. Every individual human being, upon fertilization, is conceived with and exclusive genetic identification that remains permanent throughout his or her life. Every single human has a constitutional right which demands to be protected. Imagine not having a choice whether or not you want to have this life. How would you feel if someone took away that chance to live? An infant in his or her mothers stomach has no choice. Abortion is the killing of an innocent baby that could’ve grown up and possibly made a difference in their lives. Unlike ungrateful mothers that don’t appreciate the fact that they can actually have a baby. There are people dying for your spot to have a kid. People wishing there was children to adopt but couldn’t because they most likely got aborted.
There are many studies proving that not only does abortion kill an innocent human being it also damages the mother physically and mentally. Studies show that more than 95 percent of women that had an abortion will either abuse alcohol, commit suicide, or abuse drugs. 34-37 percent of women develop an anxiety disorder, or experience severe depression. Anything you do or say to a mother who is even considering getting an abortion will affect them after the procedure. Often women want to have an abortion because the baby was unwanted and unexpected which causes more of a problem mentally because all the negative attitudes going towards the mother for even considering an abortion. Often when people consider abortion they are missing the large picture. Maybe being pregnant isn’t always the problem. Writer, Megan Clancy said “ There are women who are starving that become pregnant; the problem is that they are starving, not that they are pregnant. There are women that are in abusive relationships; the problem is that they are in abusive relationships, not that they are pregnant.”
Abortion not only take the life of an innocent child, it takes away an opportunity for adoption. There is most likely a family that actually wants to have a child but can’t because maybe the woman simply can’t have children, or other complicated reasons. They probably have been looking for a chance to adopt for years now and they probably would have if all the women hadn’t gotten an abortion, just because “she wasn’t ready.” If you weren’t ready, you responsibility was in your hands. You made the choice to not take the right steps to prevent pregnancy. There’s always protection, many different ways of birth control, So you can not say that you did everything you possibly could to prevent the accidental pregnancy, unless you used protection, you took birth control, etc. Of course even with all these preventatives, there is a chance you still become pregnant, and i’ll say it again, it’s YOUR responsibility and you have to deal with the consequence. Killing the “consequnce” is not an answer to your mistake when you had the chance to avoid it.
The procedure of doing an abortion is repulsive. Even “the safest” procedure, also known as the Suction procedure, still harms the woman, The in-clinic abortion is considered the safest procedure still has life-threatening risks, such as death, cervical/ovarian/ and liver cancer, uterine perforation, cervical lacerations, placenta previa, ectopic pregnancy, and pelvic inflammatory disease. Having an abortion can affect when you would like to have children in the future, there’s a chance that you wouldn’t be able to have a kid.
Most importantly all lives matter even if it is just a baby in the womb. That baby has a heart beat and I feel like that speaks for itself. Murder is murder even if it is a baby that is not born yet. All in all, I feel like abortion is murder and it needs to be stopped. There should be a law that is against abortion because every life is important, and everyone deserves to be able to live the life they have been given.

The Issue of Abortion
For years, the United States has been a country that has opportunities and freedom. But however, American has only proven that this promised land is not how many residents viewed it to be. Issues like the death penalty, assisted suicide and abortion.
Abortion is something that is overlooked and has not been given the proper attention it should be. This word has a controversial topic in the political, religious and medical world since the 19th century and until now, it still a question in each person. This has been proven to be one of the more unshakable issues that have been brought to be a controversy to the US.
Abortion is the ending of a pregnancy by removing a fetus or embryo before the baby can survive outside the uterus. Abortions have been done using herbal medicines, sharp tools or through other traditional methods. In 1973 a landmark decision was made by the United States Supreme Court that criminalized or restricted access to abortions. Because of this case from the year 1973 to 2005, millions of women had legal abortions. To avoid public protestants and to make this a “better” cause to this issue, the government of Nebraska Republican Gov. Dave Heineman signed both very specific bills, one barring abortions at and after 20 weeks of pregnancy and the other requiring women to be screened before having abortions for mental health and other problems. If women really knew what happens to the baby during an abortion, I don’t think they would consider doing it.
Medical physicians use a Sopher clamp to grasp an arm or leg, then they pull the limbs hard which is tearing them off the baby’s body. The baby’s head is grasp and crushed and the brain substance comes out through the cervix. In my opinion, women rather have their baby body parts breaking inside them, have a risk of infection and etc rather than having an adoption and giving someone who really wants a child. The person who will suffer the most is the abortionist and the mother herself, she will not only lose her child that was wrongfully killed, she’ll be putting her own life at risk as well.
Many people believe that allowing abortion goes directly against the women’s right as their moments of conception. Why is this statement believable? Based on the Declaration of Independence, which states: “All men are created equal, that are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these lives and the pursuit of happiness. Which means that allowing abortion is specifically illegal. Because once a woman has gone through an abortion, this woman has just taken away this baby’s right to live as he or she deserves to a stated in the Declaration of Independence.
Pro-choice include potential mothers and the government, while pro-life include anti-abortion movements. In conclusion, despite the controversial conversation in our society, abortion should not be sanctioned in order to maintain financial stability.

Human Rights and Abortion
The argument of abortion has been discussed over the last 30 years in the United States. During the Roe vs. Wade case in 1973, fetuses were declared to be nonliving “persons”. Simultaneously, women had the right to control their own body. This controversial subject has been continually argued over whether abortion should be illegal or legal. According to the dictionary, abortion is the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus. (Merriam-Webster’s collegiate dictionary, 1999). There are three types of abortion; therapeutic, spontaneous, and elective. A therapeutic abortion may be done because it may implicate the mother’s health, or because tests show confirmation of deformity in the child. Spontaneous abortion would be a mother having a miscarriage. Elective abortion is anything that is not therapeutic or spontaneous.
Something is alive when it is able to take in food or nourishment, be able to excrete waste, ability to respond to stimuli, be able to grow, and the ability to maintain homeostasis. Having a beating heart, human body parts, and tissue layers does not make it a human being. None of these matter if it is not able to survive on its own away from the mother. A human life begins when the fetus is born. The difference between a fetus and newborn is that the newborn is part of the social world. Today, a mother is able to abort a fetus but cannot kill her newborn infant legally or morally. Stephen Schwarz claims in his book, there are only four differences between a fetus and a newborn baby. They are size, level of development, environment, and degree of dependency (Schwarz, 1990).
Some say rationality, language, and self-awareness gives us moral status. But this would imply many human beings, like infants and severely disabled human beings would lack moral status. Sentience, the ability to feel, perceive or experience gives us moral status (Merriam-Webster’s collegiate dictionary, 1999). Peter Singer’s example of a rock and a mouse. His example claims that animals have moral status because if you were to hit a rock, it would not feel pain. But if you were to hit a mouse, which is sentience, it would feel pain which means you have a moral obligation not to hit the mouse. The debate over abortion comes down to one key issue; the moral status of the unborn child. Individuals who are pro-abortion will claim that the growing fetus lacks a moral status that would overtake a woman’s wish to abort the child. Those who are against abortion argue by making the opposite claim, that an unborn child has a moral status because of its human existence.
Abortion can not only affect the fetus but also the mother carrying the fetus. It affects the mother both emotionally and physically. Studies have shown a statistically significant increase in premature births or low birth weight risk in women prior to induced abortions. (Alcron 2010). Low birth weight and premature births are the most important risk factors for infant mortality or later disabilities as well as for lower cognitive abilities and greater behavioral patterns. There is a higher risk for infant mortality for those mothers who have had abortions in the past. Also, mothers who have had abortions in the past, whether it be spontaneous, therapeutic or elective, have a higher chance of having an ectopic pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancy is when gestation occurs outside the uterus, most often it occurs in a fallopian tube. Ectopic pregnancies can be fatal for both mother and baby.
Abortion is a controversial topic that is universally discussed with valuable, moral positions on both sides. I believe Abortion should be legal for numerous reasons. We live in a world where a lot of rape and abuse takes place. These women who suffer from rape may end up pregnant without a choice. I believe if you’re a victim of rape and end up getting pregnant, you should be able to abort if you desire. Many teens make mistakes and end up pregnant because they do not have the knowledge or are not aware of the consequences of their actions but who are we to decide that they need to support that baby. I believe women should have power over their body, no one should say or have control over it.
If a teen becomes pregnant they may lose their education because they’ll have to get a job to be able to support their baby. She would probably be kicked out of her family home and required to get a job, which most of the time is a minimum wage job. If she decides to abort, she would most likely suffer physically and emotionally but would not have to deal with those issues. Having an abortion would also make her more aware of her actions and she would learn from her mistakes. A girls’ result from this experience would be maturation and growth, rather than repression.
About 14,000 victims of rape and abuse get abortions. Imagine if abortion was illegal, all 14,000 would be born and we already have limited amount of resources. Abortions, in a strange way, are beneficial to the planet. A woman who is impregnated by a rapist may not want to have the child. Even though abortion may seem immortal, I believe it should maintain legal because it can be the best solution for a lot of women. At the end of the day, it is the woman’s life that would be affected not anybody else’s.
