What are the Limits of Religious Tolerance in a Community?
My stimulus is a supreme court case in which Jack Phillips, a cake baker living in Colorado, denied the request of a homosexual couple to bake their wedding cake. His defense was that his religion; Christianity, labeled the couple’s lifestyle a sin. Although the court ruled that the state's public accommodation law did not authorize him to refuse the gay couple's request, the case brings up questions surrounding the issue of at what point religious tolerance should be limited in a community. In the case of Jack Phillips, we should ask if he had a right to refuse service based on his religious values, or if the Supreme Court appropriately ruled that he must accommodate all patrons, even if the action risks disobeying religious regulations that he may choose to follow.
There are a plethora of viewpoints surrounding the idea that tolerance can be limited. A nineteenth century philosopher named John Stuart Mill contributes his point of view to the issue, stating that there should be no limit to the tolerance of religious practices, unless said practices cause harm to oneself or to others. This follows the utilitarian way of thinking, weighing the levels of pain and pleasure that would come from a situation, and deciding what to do based on whichever option produces the least pain and the most pleasure. Mill states in his essay “Mill, On Liberty” that “If anyone does something harmful to others, there is a prima facie case for punishing him—either by law or, where legal penalties are not safely applicable, by general disapproval.”(Mill, 7) In the context of religious tolerance, Mill believes that people should be able to practice whatever they wish without fear that the law will intervene on their traditions, unless they are in any way harming other humans.
An example of a religious custom that Mill would be opposed to is the practice of scarification, a tradition in many African cultures and religions that involves cutting wounds into a person’s flesh in order to cause indelible markings. Anyone with a utilitarian viewpoint would contend this practice, because it causes harm and pain to the person being scarred. Any pleasure that comes with the spiritual side of the tradition may not outweigh the physical pain of the scarring process.
The other side of this argument, however is that without living these traditions, we cannot tell if the pain truly outweighs the pleasure. If entire populations of people willingly allow themselves to be put through painful rituals in hope of religious benefit, there must be a part of the practices that we, as outsiders, do not understand, that is giving those who participate some form of spiritual pleasure. If we do not believe in the traditions, than we also cannot believe in the benefit that comes from the practices. This mentality prevents us from seeing advantages that may be very real to those who affiliate with said religions.
Another issue with the utilitarian argument is that “harm” can be interpreted in many different ways. One could be referring to only physical pain, or only mental pain, or both. Most religious practices are for the purpose of empowering and enlightening people, so, as we mentioned above, even if they do cause physical harm, it may be outweighed by the spiritual gain. Sometimes, however, religion can cause psychological harm and pain. With many religions comes guilt for sins and fear of punishment for even minor mistakes. This may cause people holding certain beliefs to restrict themselves from living life to its fullest, forcing their mental health to plummet, in other words inflicting psychological pain upon them. If the fear and guilt grows to strong, it could end up outweighing the pleasure side of the practice, losing utilitarian support. Then again, if the religion’s participants are willingly accepting the negative components of their faith, and those negative parts are not infringing on other people, there would be no reason to limit tolerance on said religion.

Branding and ‘Air Asia’
Branding is one of the marketing strategy Air Asia used to help customer to identity their product or services. A brand can position itself by associating its name with good value and benefits. Air Asia, is a brand provide experiences that satisfied the desire of customer to travel around, reach their destinations and fly above the sky. Air Asia is well known as a low cost airline in Asia. There is no denying the fact that low-cost service is the strategy of Air Asia to achieve their slogan that everyone can fly. Besides, current economics make consumer sensitive about the price and the value or benefits that can get for the money. They often seek new experiences to travel but at the same time save money as spend in a little amount. Air Asia is using marketing service firms. They use marketing to position themselves strongly in chosen target markets. Their slogan, now everyone can fly is a strong statement that indicate Air Asia promise to have an air flight services that satisfied people to travel with low fare.
When we talk about low-cost airline, the first airline company that people will think of will be Air Asia. This help to develop their brand name and build strong brand identity of Air Asia that distinguish Air Asia with other competitors. Besides, Air Asia breaks through stereotype on low cost is followed by low quality, and both of them is a package. In Air Asia airlines, even that is low cost fare but in service quality that having a good quality. It is certified with 3 star low cost airline rating by Skytrax. And it also the best low-cost airline for seventh in a row. ( The Star 2018) Low cost airline encourage people to travel. People will travel more often when they can save money. They go to locations that they might not have gone to otherwise because they can afford the airfare. This means that more people are able to travel the world than ever before. Airline travel used to be for the elite, but with low-cost airlines like Air Asia, it is becoming an option for more people, encourage travel to certain destinations. (azcentral, 2017) Low cost airline target leisure customers, not business passengers. As business travelers don’t really care about the price as much as leisure travelers. (Wharton, 2017) Leisure travelers that doesn’t travel frequently may not have the direct experience to distinguish between airlines and therefore may use a price decision to simplify their choice. The reason why leisure customers are more price sensitive is because the economy of Malaysia is slowing down. (The Star, 2018)
Therefore, consumers who see little difference between airline offerings will aim for the cheapest price, as it represents the most value for them.

Family Problem
Family Therapy
From the beginning of family therapy, it had been suggested that individual issues could have a significant effect on the entire family (Neukrug, 2016, p. 184). There are many methods and approaches to family counseling, but across all of them is an emphasis to understand how a family and each of its parts function, as well as to take a deeper look into family patterns and build on family strengths as they face current and future issues. Family therapy can be advantageous as well as impose risks for an individual or his family. Therefore, it is important for family therapists to be properly trained and experienced, understand their professional roles, and be aware of personal biases and challenges that can affect client relationships.
Roles of a Family Counselor
When a family counselor understands the “complexities” of human communication, it can help with identifying unique characteristics of couples and families and taking steps toward developing a plan for change (Neukrug, 2016, p. 192). Family therapists can truly enter the world of each family member they work with, helping them to recognize specific functions within their family, identify individual barriers, and work towards solutions. Counselors can take the approach of being more detached from the family, or, they can choose to come alongside the clients to encourage change, such as in experiential family therapy and structural family therapy. In these approaches, a counselor “joins” with the family to develop a genuine relationship, allowing the counselor to “understand the family’s rules, boundaries, structure and hierarchy, and stress” (Neukrug, 2016, 198). Family therapists can work with families to focus on the present problem with approaches such as cognitive-behavioral family counseling or solution-focused family therapy. Or, they can focus on behavioral patterns and traits from prior generations that have been passed down (Neukrug, 2016, p. 202). In any approach, family therapists can observe how individual issues and responses connect to the whole family. They work with families to build stronger communication and relationships and equip them for any stressful situations that may arise in the future (Neukrug, 2016, p. 194).
Advantages of Family Therapy
Family therapy can provide a safe place for each family member to share their thoughts and emotions. Therapists have an opportunity to ensure each person is heard and can aid the family in seeing how their stories connect and affect their family dynamic. Family therapy allows members to move toward healthier ways of communicating as they examine family structures, rules, and behaviors that may contribute to tension (Neukrug, 2016, p. 191). Together with the counselor, families can identify why specific boundaries are in place and come up with solutions to maintain these boundaries in a healthy way (Neukrug, 2016, p. 191). Many families get “stuck” in focusing on the negative issues at hand. Family therapy provides clients with a renewed perspective as therapists draw out family members’ existing strengths, as highlighted in narrative family therapy and solution-focused family therapy, to encourage new solutions and change (Nuekrug, 2016, p. 210).
Disadvantages and Challenges of Family Therapy
Family Therapy can be challenging when family members are not yet motivated to change or are unwilling to take responsibility for their own actions. It is easy to blame-shift or to use other means, such as children, as a distraction for one’s own pain, called “scapegoating” (Neukrug, 2016, p. 183). In situations like these, children tend to think they are the cause of their parents’ issues or take on responsibility for solving them (Ivey, Ivey, Zalaquett, 2018, p. 123). If a counselor is not in complete control over a session, family members may talk over one another or not fully listen to one another, which can cause harm to clients. Similarly, a family counselor could provide direction or personal advice that causes further dissension or does not fit the uniqueness of the family.
Experience Needed to Treat a Family
Family therapists have a great deal of education, supervision, and training specifically in working with families. Counselors that work with families must have an awareness of his or her own cultural biases and have unique skills in working with clients from diverse backgrounds (Neukrug, 2016, p. 212). An effective family counselor has also examined his or her own family of origin and strives to continually self-reflect in this area (Neukrug, 2016, p. 217).
Personal Challenges in Working with a Family
I personally believe it would be a challenge to be in a session with multiple people and try to accurately follow and listen intently to the moving parts, all the while remaining in control. I know that I am currently much more confident working with individual clients. I would likely fight the urge to not “take sides,” and I would have to constantly examine myself to ensure I am not biased against any members of the family. As a Christian, I would have to be cautious to not impose my own views onto clients or “quarrel over opinions” (Romans 14:1, ESV) of marriage or family.
Conclusion
Family therapy seeks to address matters that ultimately affect all parts of the family and cause division. Mark 3:25 states, “If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand” (ESV). It is vital to place focus on individual family members as therapists skillfully and strategically identify barriers in the family unit. By doing so, family therapists can effectively help families rebuild unity, find hope, and implement new solutions, as a family, in times of struggle.

Military Order and Discipline
Why is it important to have good order and discipline in the army? Well there is a couple reasons why both in garrison or even foreign countries fighting wars. It all boils down to what good order and discipline really is though. For example stuff that’s as simple as moving military vehicles, or going to a range to qualify with your M4/M16. You can also use order and discipline when doing little things like doing details, or even in combat.
What is good order? Order is really simple but it’s also overlooked a lot of the times. Good order is being able to control your troops. For example in Basic Combat Training the Drill Sergeants maintain order within ranks by shaking up the new trainees by getting in their faces and screaming or making them do exercises. Drill Sergeants know how to keep order and turn new private’s into the lethal fighting force the world knows today. They do this to ensure that the army always has troops ready to deploy engage and destroy the enemies of the United States no matter when and where even if they are domestic enemy’s. Another example of good order is when a Platoon Sergeant or Platoon Leader hands down a task to the Non-commissioned officer, like moving trucks, sweeping the motor pool, or even taking out the garbage and the Non- commissioned officer grabs 2 soldiers for the task at hand and tells them to move the trucks over to the maintenance bay to get looked at and a new crane cable connected.
What is discipline? Well discipline has multiple meanings. Like discipline can be not cheating while in a relationship. What does discipline have to due with the military? Well when working at a job you have people appointed over you to make sure the work that needs to be done gets done. Like for instance when you’re tasked out to do a funeral you must have good discipline or else you could seem disrespectful to the deceased veterans family. Discipline just doesn’t apply to funerals either it applies to everyday things we do in the army no matter how big or small it could be as little as saying sergeant at the end of a sentence when talking to a non- commissioned officer, or standing at parade rest when either being addressed or addressing a non-commissioned officer. You also have discipline in the army by showing up to work on time or putting the gear we need to bring for the day. It also has another meaning as well though. Discipline also comes into play when shooting a rifle because you have to be well disciplined and focused when shooting a target to make sure you get a good hit on the target.
How can you use discipline and other in a garrison environment? You can use order and discipline in a garrison environment in multiple different ways. Like when doing details such as the wash rack without order in the wash rack everyone wouldn’t know what to do and the vehicles wouldn’t get cleaned and that would make everyone stay longer away from their families and would lower moral of the unit as a whole. Discipline is also important in the wash rack because if a soldier just messes around and doesn’t do their job that makes the other soldiers have to pick up that soldiers slack and that will hinder the details performance making them get of a lot later and taking away from the units man power thus making everyone in the battery stay longer because the things that needed to be done harder to complete. Discipline is also important when doing preventative maintenance checks and services(PMCS) because if a soldier lacks discipline when taking care of a vehicle that could hinder the units fighting capacity. For instance if a soldier is doing preventative maintenance on a heavy mobility tactical truck and doesn’t do it correctly and misses the fact the crane is spraying hydraulic fluid and they go out to the field with live rounds they won’t be able to drop their pods because of the vehicle leaking hydraulic fluid thus making it impossible for the launchers to shoot which makes the launcher crew not be able to quality which hinders fighting capabilities of the whole brigade. Another way that order is important while in a garrison environment is when a soldier isn’t made aware of a change put out by his chain of command that soldier could end up getting in trouble for showing up late or showing up with the wrong equipment thus making the soldier go back and grab the gear necessary to do the job at hand which wastes time for not only the soldier but also everyone around him. If a soldier is lacking discipline it could also hinder him legally like if a soldier talks to a soldier of the opposite sex that soldier could get SHARPed or EOed for saying or doing something that could be taken as offensive like if a male or female soldier cat calls the other soldier that soldier could get offended and get him or her for sexual harassment in the workplace. Thus taking away from the units manpower which in return makes the United States Army a less lethal fighting force.
How can order and discipline be used while deployed or stationed overseas? Well it’s used in multiple ways. Like order is required for joint military operations. For instance take into account that when we are overseas we do combat exercises in case we get attacked or we get the order to attack we can without fail. A command sergeant major has to have good order over his troops or they will be unfit to fight and be undisciplined and untrained. Thus making our fighting power significantly lower making us a less of a threat. There is also another way it can apply in combat for example say the unit is engaged in direct fire from the south the soldiers might be shaken or not wanting to fight back because of fear, but it takes good order from a commanding officer or non commissioned officer to make sure everyone gets out of the situation without any harm.
There is multiple reasons is it important to have good order and discipline in the army. It all boils down to what good order and discipline really is though. Just a couple examples that was talked about in this essay are stuff that’s as simple as moving military vehicles, or going to a range to qualify with your M4/M16. You can also use order and discipline when doing little things like doing details, or even in combat, but that’s just the tip when it comes to why it is important in the army.

The Pressures of being a Single Mother
What are single mothers? What are the pressures women face being the only parent daily? How can single mothers utilize resources? A single mother is one who becomes a victim to society. Being a Single mother is not necessarily due to a man’s abandonment, it is also in cases when the father passes away or is incarcerated. It is not easy being a single mother. Making a child’s life as good as possible is a mother's goal. The pressures of being a single mother start to form when one must become financially responsible, starts to experience social isolation, and when one is trying to purse higher education.
One pressure of being a single mother is being financially responsible. Does being financially responsible mean that one must scrimp and save? Not having enough money can cause one to be financially unbalanced. One cannot do some of the things most family’s do with their children who have both parents. Although a single mother may often have to neglect oneself, it is important to know how to budget. Keeping control of spending habits allows one to use decision making when it comes to the importance of the child, even when one is afraid to say no to the child. Making a list is necessary for a mother to cut out these adjustments. For instance, a mother who is considering saving for child care should cut out extravagant shopping habits. Another adjustment would be for a mother to make a suggested meal plan. This would help cut out expensive weekly eating habits.
Another pressure of being a single mother starts when one starts to experience social isolation. What is social isolation? What are the effects of social isolation? Social isolation happens when one becomes disconnected. A mother may develop social isolation due to rapid weight gain. Rapid weight gain often causes stress that is an effect of social isolation. Affected mothers may find themselves feeling self-conscious or shunned. Social isolation can start from being let down after a situation. Maybe a mother expected a relative to continuously pick the child up from school on their way home. Due to lack of support a mother can start to feel like one should become distant.
A third pressure occurs when a mother is trying to purse higher education. How can a mother make time to study? Are there resources available on campus for mothers? Higher education is important. Single mothers should take notes on how to balance their time. For example, if a mother is pursuing a higher education, prioritizing of time for study to ensure academic success is just one of the few. It is crucial for a mother to make time for homework and the child. One may have to schedule child care, around a school schedule. Single mothers may face this weekly. Some colleges tend to have onsite campus child care, while if child care is not available a mother must provide her own. Many single mothers often face finding transportation to and from school. Carpooling to school can sometimes eliminate this situation. While if not eliminated a mother will experience accumulative absences. As a result, this can result in one failing a course or being dropped from classes.
Finally, it may be concluded that one faces numerous obstacles which are encountered by being a single mother. Single mothers lack appropriate resources. It is more beneficial to be raised by both parents. However, the unfortunate circumstance of being a single mother that must worry about the issue of being financially responsible, social isolation and trying to pursue higher education is a tough cookie to swallow. “According to” Fredrick Douglass “If there is no struggle, there is no progress.”

“The Wolf of Wall Street” (Movie Analysis)
There is plenty of movies that element such violations and The Wolf of Wall Street is one of the best movies that depend on the class of film. It is important that the film depends on genuine records. The film is worked around the life of a stockbroker called Jordan Belfort and it follows his life as he proceeds to have his own organization. He handles an occupation as a Wall Street stockbroker where he is brought into a universe of a drug, sex, and ravenousness for cash. He later loses his employment and plays another job in a financier firm managing in penny stocks. The organization rose consistently to turn into an extremely worthwhile business with all workforce living luxuriously. This was while Belfort's ruin anticipated. Along the way, various violations were submitted, and these would, at last, be the defeat of Belfort. He has committed various types of fraud in order to benefit from the market. During his tenure, he engaged in money laundering and bribery by officials and specialists. The proliferation of crime Bell fortresses is used to promote the higher stages of life so he uses techniques to make money faster.
The movie focuses on a white-collar substance. The main feature is the non-violent nature of the crime. Beyond the film, there is no predictable violence in earning money. It is primarily about fraud, breach of trust with customers and partners, and hiding important details or information. The focus is often on money, property, services, and business opportunities. There is a lifestyle that comes with these benefits and the film does a beautiful job of showing how much they impact people's lives. Belfort and his co-workers only drive one thing and make money. The Wall Street gives a helpful way to accomplish their goals. Belfort begins a journey to gather treasure as much as he can and is able to do so. He finds all the material things that money can purchase, and he comes to this level through fraud and criminal means.
The Wolf of Wall Street is a major theme of White-Cola. Belfort is the main character in the film. He is a young man with a great deal of interest when he goes to Wall Street. He was married to his wife, Teresa, 23 years old. The film shows that life has a method of evolving individuals. Problems come to the door when he loses his job as a manager on Wall Street. The decision was made to work in the retail sector or to sell coins in the small firm. As a family, he must choose to live a positive life or take the path to be as rich as possible.
He shows a feeling of responsibility to his better half. This while utilizing wicked intends to earn his cash. Belfort exudes charm which is a significant piece of him being an incredible sales. He shows he is well equipped for beguiling customers and forthcoming customers into adjusting their goals to his. He blows through cash on luxurious parties and occasions. At first, he is acquainted with sex, drugs, and a great way of life as a Wall Street stockbroker. He is devoted to his better half by then and his character changes as he builds up his organization and turns out to be increasingly persuaded to commit fraud in an offer to make benefits. He turns into a cash hungry person who is utilizing drugs intensely and undermines his better half. Celebrating turned into consistent in his life. The account of the film coordinates all variables associated with the Fraud Triangle which are opportunity, pressure, and rationalization. There were no internal controls against fraud inside the organization as he built up all principles of play.
Remotely, he discovered escape clauses and positions to exploit and he strived to control the market as long as it did not draw the attention of the authorities, although he finally charm their attention. There seems to be a lot of motivation or incentive for the stock trader and it has led to a major driving force in the scams. The Belfort was driven by its greed to make as much money as possible and to become rich. His encouragement was simple: Make more money in any method. Belfort formed a foundation for making money the way he worked, and this was taught in him as his shareholder in his first job. This impact was a significant contributing component in his rationalization of the fraud he committed.
The Factor that the fraud theory presents onto the triangle model is the capability and it involves the capacities that one has. He had a deep love for his work in the stock market and these required him to have skills. He had a detailed understanding of the activity of the market and had a sharp thought on procedures and controls that existed in his profession. He utilizes the information and capacities to make a fortune for others' cash and there is a rule called 10-80-10 that is related to the capacity of people to commit fraud. In a proper way, eighty percent of people commit fraud and ten percent of people do not commit fraud also the Belfort is the other ten percent of the category that includes individuals who are actively seeking to defraud the system. The fraudulent Pentagon concept still offers a different perspective. As the Belfort grows, this attitude takes center stage. His role in the success of the company has many implications. The FBI found its activities in the wind and continued its work by establishing a task force to check it.
In Belfort’s life, several things went out as the FBI was surrounding him and If he ignores the threat of incarceration, he will remain on active duty and will be notified by his arresting partner. After his wife asks for a divorce serious incident will happen. This time he hit his wife, and he had an accident with his daughter next to her. Belfort carried out various crimes through the span of his profession. He was accused of control of the stock market and money laundry. The crime can carry up to 25 years in prison. It also violates the Financial Conduct Act and eliminates all transactions involving illegal activity and financial concealment.
The proof against him was very huge subsequently he conceded to fraud and different crimes identified with control of the market. He was condemned for a sum of 22 months in jail and he gave declarations that ensnared his accomplices and workers part of his discipline included the installment of a debt to the customers he cheated after his prison term finished.

“The Things they Carried” by Tim O’Brien
In Tim O'Brien's 'The Things They Carried', we are told a story about what the soldiers in the Vietnam War carried with them and in particular what First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross carried with him. The way the story is told gives a glimpse of each soldier's personality based on the items that they carried with them. First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross carries letters from a girl named Martha with whom he is infatuated. Although she did not send them as love letters, Lieutenant Cross carries them as if they were. Lieutenant Cross's motives for carrying these letters and the burdens that they represent are made apparent through O'Brien's unique narrative point of view. The narration is mostly in third person with the use of peripheral narration as the story progresses. In this essay, I will explore how this unique narration allows O'Brien to explore both the physical and emotional burden of the things the soldiers carried.
Before reading 'The Things They Carried', we are introduced to the author. We know that O'Brien was an educated scholar, earning a degree in political science, graduating summa cum laude. After earning his degree, he was drafted into the army during the Vietnam War. He was an activist in the war, however, he feared losing the relationship with his family and joined the Fifth Battalion, Forty-sixth Infantry. Having background information of the author tells you a lot about what the story might be centered around. According with the definitions from Literary Devices, ' Point of view is a reflection of the opinion an individual from real life or fiction has' (Literary Devices Editors). In 'The Things They Carried', the narrator could very well be Tim O'Brien sharing his personal experiences in the war through a third personal peripheral narration, this is what makes the story unique.
In 'The Things They Carried', the things that the soldiers carry are both literal and figurative devices. While they all carry heavy physical loads, they also all carry heavy emotional loads, such as grief, terror, love, etc. Each man’s physical burden emphasizes his emotional burden. For example, 'As a First Lieutenant and platoon leader, Jimmy Cross carried [...] a strobe light and the responsibility for the lives of his men' (O'Brien 1279). This was Lieutenant Cross's physical burden and carried a very heavy load because he manned a platoon. As a platoon leader, he must not show fear but rather heroism and the way that the things he carries with him are described definitely depicts him as a hero. This is an integral part of understanding Lieutenant Cross because not only does he have to worry about his own life, but also of the lives of other men and getting each and every one of them back home to their loved ones.
Most all of the characters carry a physical burden in the sense of weight and the use of those gadgets. 'As a big man, therefore a machine gunner, Henry Dobbins carried the M-60, which weighed twenty-three pounds unloaded, but which was almost always loaded. In addition, Dobbins carried between ten and fifteen pounds of ammunition draped in belts across his chest and shoulders' (O'Brien 1279). The third person narration of the observing narrator provides us with enough detail in this description for us to assume that Henry Dobbins is most likely the physically strongest man in the platoon. On top of his basic uniform, Dobbins carries an additional fifty or more pounds in gear. From this description of what Henry carries with him, it is obvious that his physical load is heavier in terms of weight than the other men.
Furthermore, in addition to Lieutenant Cross's physical burden, '[He] carried letters from a girl named Martha' (O'Brien 1277), he also carried the emotional burden of what he was hoping were love letters from a girl named Martha he is infatuated with and this was his motivation for another day. This is integral to the development of this character because the love that he has for Martha eventually distracts him in action and the consequence is the loss of a man in his platoon. 'Lieutenant Cross felt the pain. He blamed himself' (O'Brien 1280). Lieutenant Cross was so infatuated with Martha that it became a burden; he loved Martha more than he loved his men.
First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross's combination of physical and emotional burdens show the fear, guilt and regret that demonstrate soldiers at war as seen in Cross's realization after the death of Lavender, 'His mind wandered. He had difficulty keeping his attention on the war' (O'Brien 1281). Basically what we are told is that Lieutenant Cross is so lost in his memories of Martha that he was not focused and as a result, because of his lack of attention, Lavender is now dead. The love he has for Martha is an emotional burden because instead of him leading the men, he is distracted with daydreaming of them being together..
Other soldiers carried a sentimental burden along with them as well. 'Henry Dobbins carried his girlfriend's panty-hose wrapped around his neck as a lucky charm and comfort. They all carried ghosts' (O'Brien 1282). Henry also, although described as a big man, as well as others, carried at least one piece that holds a great sentimental value as comfort and motivation to return home safe and sound to their loved ones. At first glance, we are introduced to Henry as being a mighty man whom we are normally afraid of, however, as we learn about him, he is actually a very sensitive and kind loving man at heart.
Throughout the story, O'Brien switches back and forth between narrative voices, making the question about what's real and what isn't even more confusing. You start reading 'The Things They Carried' and you think it's a story told in the third person, describing the things that each soldier carried with them in war. Then suddenly, it switches narration; O'Brien is talking to one of the characters from 'The Things They Carried,' and it becomes clear that he was there the whole time during that first story, anonymously.

Importance of Common Sense and Respect
Common Sense, something the people on this Earth lacks. It doesn’t matter what age. Nine year olds, to Eighty-Three year olds. We all have our ups and downs when it comes to knowledge. For example, a three year old may think you’re supposed to breathe underwater, while the thirty-four year old mother would think otherwise. You aren’t just born with common sense, you have to learn your way through it. Experience, gains you more. What is common sense? It’s what you think, others should know. If you think Hillary is better than Trump, you're goal is to advocate those who think apart from you. However, common sense isn’t as common or sense anymore. Out of Seven billion people on this world, not one person has not lacked in it. Sound judgment isn’t a big thing currently. You can determine this by looking around. Many don’t have common sense, due to certain decisions. Sense, meaning a feeling in which something is the case, is our own beliefs. If we think something, we are so wrapped up in our own mind, that that’s the only thing that’s right. For instance, if I think longboards are better than skateboards, (in which I do) then that’s what I think is right, and I will try my best to confirm that my opinion is right. But common sense isn’t just about what you think and if it’s right or not. It’s sometimes what you say. If you say “I love you” to your uncle, their will be a reaction of affection. (hopefully) If you say “Fuck you” to your father, that’s not common sense. He is raising you, you are living under his house, his rules, and you are not to disrespect him.
There’s the next word. Respect. Something that all deserve at least a little of. Almost anything will earn you respect in the eyes of anyone. If you obey one, and continue to do so, you will have earned respect. Basically, to gain respect, you must be respectful. Make respect an attitude, a mood. I’m feeling respectful. I’m respectful. And do things, and say things, until that statement is true. When you have been respected or have gained respect, you should feel proud, as if you have achieved something, for some do many things to get the smallest amount of respect. Some people even die for it. If you are in jail, one of the main goals is to “Do anything and everything you can, even if the smallest amount of respect is all you get.” (Jeremy Ong) It doesn’t matter who it is you are respecting, or trying to get respect from, the main goal is to treat others the way you want to be treated. If you treat one with hatred and cruelness, the only thing you’d be getting back is the same. (unless this person truly cares for you, or unless it’s a frightened dog, who only wants your attention and love)
In the end, common sense, the one thing most lack, is something we should should train to gain more of, and respect, something most want. So use common sense to earn respect. Thank you.

It has a population of 8 million making it the fourth largest city in India and it has a decent reputation as a safest city in India. Crimes rates are very low in this city, people can go anywhere either in day or night without any fear of getting into trouble.

Short Story ‘A Haunted House’
I read Virginia Woolf’s short story A Haunted House. This story is very interesting, though very short. A Haunted House follows the story of a ghost couple living in the house of a married couple (alive), the ghostly pair are in search of something in which they lost. They search the house going to the garden, the loft, and opening and closing doors in order to find what they have lost. The couple currently living in the house know that there are two ghosts roaming about their house. The mere fact that the couple knows that there are ghosts roaming about their house, yet they are unafraid is mind boggling. Most people if they knew ghosts were occupying their house would be freaking out. Why is this couple not freaking out?
As the search for this unknown object continues, the reader can’t help but become a bit anxious, trying to figure out what this object is that has been lost that the ghosts are so adamant about finding. So it turns out that the object in which they were seeking was their hidden joy. They were searching for their emotional treasure in the narrator (the wife) and her husband.
Something that is interesting is really interesting is the house having a heartbeat, but this isn’t just an ordinary heartbeat, the house’s heartbeat is the word “safe” but it is repeated in such a way that it is rhythmic. I wonder why the author chose this word as the heartbeat. Could it be because the house is trying to tell the ghostly couple that their treasure is safe? Not only does the house have a heartbeat, but it can talk, it tells the ghosts that there is treasure hidden within it’s rooms. Could this be what the ghosts are after?
I find it interesting how the author interwins the story of how the ghosts become ghosts, and give that knowledge to the woman who is currently living in their house. The woman had died first hundreds of years earlier. When the wife had died, the house was sealed, and the rooms were no longer filled with light, and the husband left the house and traveled all around the world. When he died he returned to the house in order to become reunited with his wife. The narrator then realizes that the man couldn’t find what he was searching for during his journey, because what he wanted was the joy of a loving relationship, something that could only come from his wife.
The author uses stream of consciousness as a way to create a fluid/smooth transition that captures the subject’s thoughts as they drift between past encounters and memories to present sensations and moments. This how the narrator is able to convey the details of the lives of the people in whom she does not know. Due to the details being presented through someone else's eyes, the author is able to take ordinary objects and give descriptions of them but the descriptions care much more emotional weight. For example, the pane of glass that the narrator gazes through is symbolic of the invisible barrier to understanding the different stages/ kinds of lights that are being represented. The glass keeps the sunbeam, the light of revelation from reaching the narrator. This pane of glass then becomes a symbol of the death that has kept these to lovers seperated for centuries.
Themes of Death and Love. I really love the author’s spin on this. The permeance of love even in death, the connection between all souls both living and dead. The author making death and life a place where love can flourish and thrive, Kingdoms of the Heart. The complexity of this story is amazing to me, it was only ten paragraphs, yet so much meaning and depth was packed into this story. But i think what stood out to me most was the way that the author showed that even in death, the love in which you lost can be found again whether that be in life or in the afterlife as the author suggests.

One Day Experience as a Lawyer
When You Are Arrested
When you are arrested you may be angry or scared, leading you to talk when you shouldn’t. During the arrest, it is important to be polite and cooperative with the police, but do not talk to them or answer questions. If the police later try to talk to you do not answer any questions or volunteer information without an attorney present.
You have the legal right to have an attorney with you during questioning. Anything you say will be used against you in court. Use your phone call to contact someone who can 1) bail you out of jail; 2) make arrangements with a bail bondsman if needed, and 3) help secure an attorney on your behalf if you are unable to post bond.
Within 48 hours after your arrest you will appear before a magistrate or judge. The criminal charges will be read and the amount of bail will be set. You will also be advised of your next court appearance.
Hire a Lawyer
The faster you hire an attorney after your arrest, the more time they will have to prepare your case. If you are unable to afford an attorney the United States Constitution requires that one be appointed to represent you.
You need to be aware that with court-appointed attorneys, Texas has a recoupment program. This means that defendants may be asked to reimburse the government all or part of the cost of their court-appointed lawyer. In 2016 Texas counties recouped over $11 million from defendants.
If there is any way you can afford to hire your own assault lawyer, that is the better alternative. That way you know what your fees are in advance and won’t have surprise bills arriving in the mail, sometimes years later.
What an Lawyer Will Do
The first meeting with your attorney will be an interview. They will ask you questions about yourself, your employment, family life, and if you have any prior criminal charges. It is important to answer all questions honestly.
Your attorney needs to know everything that could possibly be used against you in court. This allows them to prepare rather than be caught off-guard in court when the prosecutor springs information on them.
The attorney will question you about the alleged incident. They will want your version of the event. They also try to determine what evidence the prosecutor may have against you.
The prosecuting attorney’s job is to prove you committed the assault. Your attorney’s position job is to show that the prosecutor does not have enough evidence to prove you committed the crime. Even if your attorney knows you are guilty, their position is to defend you.
The attorney will work on a defense strategy. They will speak with the prosecutor and try to resolve the matter outside of trial. The lawyer will attend court with you and speak to the judge on your behalf.

Why was the Neolithic Revolution a Turning Point in History?
During the Paleolithic Era, people were considered nomadic. This means they moved around to follow their food source and they did not have any permanent homes, instead they would have found temporary shelter in caves and such. Other every distinct characteristics for this era are, hunting and gathering meaning they they hunted wild animals and gathered things like nuts and berries, during this era there was no real economy and there were assigned gender roles but both genders were considered equal, this tells us that men were assigned to hunt and fight, while as women were assigned to making clothes and caring for children, (Of course there were more jobs that needed to be done these are just a few to give you a broad idea), but each gender was considered just as important as the other. One way we know these people moved around a lot is because of their cave drawings, there are many theories that try to explain cave drawings. All though we do not know any of these theories are correct one of the most accurate (meaning backed up by real facts and scientific knowledge) theories suggests that because people had not yet learned to write, they would make these drawings or paintings on cave walls wherever they could by to tell other humans what they saw so they could prepare for anything bad.
The transition to the Neolithic Era was called the Neolithic Revolution, not a revolution like taking over a ruler or someone in power but more of a change in knowledge . Starting around 8000 BCE people slowly started to plant seeds they had gathered and grow crops like wheat beans and corn, this was the beginning of farming. The discovery of farming allowed people to stay in one place instead of moving around to follow food. This also helped people grow their communities, because they would need more people to tend to the crops and more people to take over the roles those people had, after people started forming bigger groups the need for permanent housing arose. With the materials they found near their villages people started to build big houses in which the whole village could live. With all these people living and working together people would need someone to make sure it all ran smoothly, leaders started to step forward and take on the role of chiefs. A chief’s job was to make sure everyone in the village was safe and had enough food and water to stay alive. People started settling near rivers to have access to water. Soon after people discovered that they could harness fire and use it to their benefit they would use the heat from the flame to cook and make metal tools. As all this was going on humans started moving towards a male dominated society, men had more useful jobs than women such as hunting, being chiefs, protecting everyone and interacting with other villages. As these villages started to settle people started to trade between villages, this means if one village did not have enough of one thing they would go and take something of their own and trade it for what they needed. To get these jobs done more efficiently people started domesticating animals such as wolves, horses, and cattle. These animals were very useful for things like, hunting and some were even used as food sources.
As you can see the changes between the Paleolithic Era and the Neolithic Era are very drastic this was one of the first big modernizations of mankind working towards what they might not have known than would be a better brighter future.

Colonialism in ‘Robinson Crusoe’
Robinson Crusoe, a novel which written by British writer Daniel Defoe in 1919, has been hailed as a classic literary work by readers from all over the world. The exciting plot is attracting reader and triggering a series of discussions on different topics. Over the years, the topic of this book has focused on the topics of adventurous spirit and praising freedom. Certainly, colonialism in the context of his work is also a topic which worthy to discussing. This essay would analyze the novel on the view of colonialism and to restore a ‘colonizer Robinson’ in this background.
Introduction
The full title of the book is The life and strange surprizing adventures of Robinson Crusoe, of York, mariner: who lived eight and twenty years all alone in an un-inhabited island on the coast of America, near the mouth of the great river of Oroonoque; having been cast on shore by shipwreck, wherein all the men perished but himself, it is considered as the first realistic novel in the UK. It is a story about how Robinson lived on the isolated island after the shipwreck, and eventually became the owner of the island and ruled the cannibal tribe.
Behind the promotion of the adventurous spirit, this novel also has a strong colonialism color and characteristics. The author expresses the psychology of being influenced and assimilated under the colonial background at that time by shaping the typical character of Robinson. As a Puritan, Defoe was also influenced by Puritanism in the creation of his literary works. While affirming that hard work and self-reliance could change the destiny, he actively supported expansion through colonial methods. Robinson did not feel despair on the isolated island, he survived through various skills he possessed, and improved his life quality with hard-working and resourceful mind. In a sense, the image of Robinson also bears the shadow of the author Defoe himself. After rescued Friday, Robinson showed his true feature, and trained Friday as his slave. Also, even the Spanish sailors and Friday’s father who lived on the desert island could not escape the destiny of being slaves of Robinson. It can be said that on this isolated island, Robinson became a veritable slave owner, or more accurate, a colonialist.
The historical background of the book
At the beginning of the novel, Robinson was introduced as a restless young man who is not satisfied with the stable life, he pursues excitement and wants to explore the world alone. His idea represented the psychological state of the young people of that era. Robinson was bold and energetic, at the same time, he also represented the spirit of the UK and implying the rapid development of capitalism. Defoe belongs to the middle class in society, therefore he extremely concerned about the development of the capitalist economy, especially in the industrial and commercial trade. However, he is only a merchant with a small number of funds. Obviously, in terms o his ambitions, what he has is not enough, therefore he wants to engage in an adventure which reflects his colonial trade and expansion consciousness from the side. He was in a period of rapid economic development during the transition from handicrafts period to industrialization, at which time capitalist development progressed by leaps and bounds. The continuous development of the economy has made the British government willing to expand its status and pursue to expand outwards. With the help of technology and capital, the UK is drawing a blueprint for the planning of colonization abroad. In this novel, Defoe expressed his colonial concept and consciousness very well. On the deserted island, he turned the island into his own private property, even every single tree, mountain, and river. Therefore, Robinson Crusoe is a reflection of British colonial behavior in the 18 century.
Colonization through cultural penetration
“As Defoe transforms colonialism through representation, Crusoe refashions himself and the island, in part, through the imagination and language.” (Brett C. Mcinelly, 2003)
After Robinson landed on the deserted island, he did not even have much depressions. On the contrary, he stabilized his life through his viability and made himself the landlord of the island. He rescued a man from the cannibal tribe and named him Friday. Friday did not become a person of equal status or a friend, but became his slave. As a primitive man whose education level and ability are not as good as Robinson, he was deeply influenced by Robinson in many aspects such as the way he think, he act and the life habit. “First is to change the lifestyle. From dressing, eating cooked food, to using advanced tools and to the baptism of language and culture, the rapid changes of “Friday” made Robinson psychologically satisfied.” (Li Rui, and Dan Jiao, 2018) For Robinson, Friday without a Western education seems like a blank, his own culture and language could be easily erased by western cultures. The fact was as same as what Robinson thought, regardless of his words and deeds or his way of thinking, he became more like Robinson because of the cultural influences.
Colonization through religious belief
“Also Crusoe introduces English language as the medium of teaching and learning on the island. Because language has power more than the use of military violence.” (Nourin Binte Saeed, 2013)
Language is always the most basic and important training tool. It does not only represents the power of the speaker, but it is also the only way to build the relationship between the self and the other. Robinson is the naming person of Friday, the master, the governor and the person who arranges, formulates, and builds the social order of the desert island. In the novel the author mentioned, the first English word which Robinson taught Friday was Master, and it is not difficult to feel the strong possession and enslavement of him on Friday. Generally when people have pets, they give them names that are subjectively conscious of being the owner, and the origin of the name on Friday is the same. As the same as people teach pets to follow the instructions and let the pets understand the words they say, so does Robinson. Also because Robinson is a devout Puritans, he insisted on his faith and asked Friday to be a Puritan as well. Obviously Robinson is full of faith in his religion and believes that it could be used as a tool for ideological slavery. Many wars in history were caused by religions disputes. From the Crusades to multiple various wars, European religions culture was established, assimilated and unified during the war. In the country where politics and religion are integrated, religion is a tool which used to control people’s thinking. In that social background, Robinson believed that religion could bring ideological control to slaves and make them be loyal, which is why he as a colonizer asked Friday to believe in his religion.
Conclusion
As a representation of British colonialism, Robinson Crusoe shows not only adventurous spirit, but also the idea of colonial. Daniel Defoe lived in the period of rapid development of British overseas colonial expansion, therefore his work Robinson Crusoe became the epitome of that era and a product of colonialism. Also, Robinson became the representative of the western colonist at that time. Whether it is Robinson’s psychological movement or his construction of the colonial culture of the entire island, it clearly reflects his colonial behavior. When people look at this work from a critical perspective of colonialism, it could also be seen as a rethinking of the colonial history of the western developed countries.

Do Grades Define a Person’s Intelligence?
More often than not, I see students around my age succumb to the pressures of our academic system. Education is so incredibly stressed in America and failing to hit those high marks can leave a student feeling devastated. The general consensus would agree that receiving a good education is required for a good life. However, that apparently depends on whether or not you are “smart.” Oxford English Dictionary defines intelligence as, “The ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills.” Despite this, the notion that intelligence stemming purely from academic performance or grades is something that plagues the mind of our young today and is absolutely untrue. To think that something so complex and nuanced as our brain can be simply dissected and assessed with just a packet of questions is unbelievable, yet it happens in America. Our human brains are so intricate and detailed that uncovering something like intelligence is still being studied and debated today. It’s unfair to label yourself or anyone else as “dumb” or “smart” based solely on test scores alone. Intelligence is more than simply doing well in school. Intelligence is more than what we commonly perceive it to be.
Standardized testing is the most common and widely used method when it comes to measuring how “smart” a person is. It is often used to compare a student’s performance to others, but it doesn’t reveal the full picture. This makes it one of the biggest culprits when it comes to our generation’s misguided perception of intelligence. The biggest gripe that people have when it comes to these sort of tests is how unreasonably limiting they can be. What these standardized tests fail to realize is a student’s potential, or perhaps other skills they may possess. Standardized tests will often test on core subjects like math, reading, and writing but will, unfortunately, leave no room for testing other key skills such as leadership, communication, creativity, resourcefulness, teamwork, etc. These are all equally important skills that are needed in the job force and the adult world. These skills represent a different side of a person’s intelligence and they require special attention. Neglecting these core aspects is essentially ignoring a large portion of a person’s being and overall intellect.
In addition, an issue with these tests is the multiple choice style of questions. Multiple choice tests require the slightest bit of skill. The fact that you could ‘guess’ an answer choice and still get it correct is simply a mistake. In fact, the SATs do just that. Wrong answer choices on multiple choice questions have no negative consequences. No penalties are calculated into your score when this happens. However, you actually can receive points for guessing the correct answer choice. This can totally skew any result taken from these tests, and lead to misinterpretation of what actual intelligence is. This in itself is a reason why we should not let our academic performance and test scores influence how we think about intelligence. Standardized tests cannot simply gauge a student’s aptitude for these things and are simply inaccurate when reporting and measuring a person’s capabilities.
Limiting the idea of intelligence to only apply to academic performance is ignorant. As mentioned before, intelligence is “The ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills.” To paraphrase, it’s being able to take what you know and using it in a meaningful way. This application aspect of intelligence is drowned out in an academic setting. When students are just studying to do well on tests, they’re not actually retaining anything that they learn and as a result, they fail to apply it in the real world. This is supported by a 2001 study lead by Brookings Institution. In their study, they discovered that a majority of students only study in preparation for upcoming tests. This resulted in a weak long-term retention of material. Any true application skill is lost for outside the academic world. This is quite alarming considering many jobs require these important skills. How will a student progress in their knowledge and grow intellectually when they’re being taught only for tests and grades, and to only memorize material temporarily? This goes to show how unreliable our academic performance can really be when used to measure something so subjective like intelligence.
When it comes to intelligence, many would say that getting good grades and performing well in school is all it means to be “smart.” I strongly refute this idea, but this sort of mindset is common throughout all academic levels, not just college. This misguided way of thinking is a result of the pressure of American society. Intelligence is much more complex and cannot be determined with just test scores and grades. As I have discussed, our overall intelligence stems from other sources like adaptation and application too. We must be careful when administering standardized tests because they aren’t flawless, and those flaws can have a significant impact on a student’s life.

Lawyer Profession
When faced with a predicament that requires legal action, you contact a lawyer, someone who is an advocate and will represent you to the best of their ability. These individuals have endured seven years of furthered education as well as passing the Bar exam. While some say being a lawyer requires too much research and memorization, lawyers help provide support for those who can't argue their point in a case. Even if an individual cannot afford a lawyer, one will be given to them by the state or another lawyer might do pro bono work. Lawyers put in long hours to assist individuals with legal trouble leading to advancements in their career.
When a lawyer defends an individual, it is their job to research relevant facts about the case and prior cases, and interrupt laws that affect the ruling of the case. They are also in charge of filing any legal documents and communicating with their client about the happenings of the case. These duties result in long hours due to the extensive research needed to fully prepare themselves for trial. There are many types of lawyers with the goal to achieve certain things but overall the duties themselves are quite similar. Depending on the type of lawyer will determine if they are required to travel outside of the office. Other locations may include homes, hospitals or prisons. In these locations, they will converse with their clients and may begin to discuss what is going to happen during the trial and they might ask any additional information they feel is needed from their clients. As previously mentioned, it takes seven years to complete the proper education for becoming a lawyer, four years of undergraduate study and three of law school. After obtaining their law degree, prospective lawyers must pass the written bar exam.
When first entering the workforce, new lawyers may work alongside more experienced colleagues. This gives them a chance to see how the job gets done and allows them to ease into their first solo cases. A few years down the road, those new lawyers have the chance to advance in the job they have worked so hard in. There are a couple of different ways they can advance in their career, one is to be made a partner at their firm. In other words, this means they will be partial owners for that law firm and leads to you being a partial owner of the firm, and thus leading to more money being made. Another path for advancement would be opening a practice themselves. This gives them the freedom to take the cases they deem most important and fit their concentration of law best. Finally, the last option, which is the rarest to happen, would be when a lawyer is nominated or elected into a judgeship.
When looking into any prospective job, an important factor is to look at the salary and how much they make on average. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the mean annual wage was $141,890 as of May 2012. By 2020, lawyer employment is projected to grow by 6%, and in 2026 by 9%. Recently, the popularity and demand for legal jobs has increased tremendously. This is due to the businesses and individuals that need legal help, followed closely by the government who also has legal needs.
Lawyers put it long hours to assist individuals with legal trouble leading to advancements in their career. This can be seen in the extensive research that is done to ensure that they are representing their client to their fullest capability. Lawyers are knowledgeable and well educated due to their furthered education. They also have vast amounts of experience due to their pairing with experienced colleges.

Essay on ‘How you Will not Waste your Time’
Characterizing what makes a difference is a key advance in dealing with one's time and doing as such requires figuring out which things will make you feel best. When you are clear about your own and expert objectives, settling on decisions about how to sort out and contribute your time ends up less demanding. This book showed me how to appropriately deal with my time with association and prioritization. It instructed me that hen endeavoring to evaluate time the executives challenges, it very well may be useful to investigate three normal causes: specialized mistakes (e.g., complicated work space, absence of arranging time), outer substances (e.g., new life occasions, working with confused or underprepared individuals), and mental deterrents (e.g., misty needs, dread of downtime, aversion of essential errands).

The best administrators delegate undertakings more qualified for others when conceivable and proper. Now and again, they delegate assignments they don't prefer to other people. Directors ought not assign all errands they find unsavory, yet, in the event that an undertaking requires a specific expertise, learning, or experience that a staff part has, designation might be altogether proper. Bad Decisions in Life
Consequences of bad decisions The play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare and the myth The Love Story of Pyramus and Thisbe by Ovid, retold by Edith Hamilton are closely related with Jena Salon: Bad decisions. The play, the myth talk about two young lovers who are willing to be together no matter the consequences, while Jena Salon: Bad decision talks about two sisters wanting the legacy of survival. Since both the play and the myth are closely related we are able to identify the similarities between the play and the myth and also show how the article relates to both the myth and the play.
In the play, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo and Juliet makes quite a decisions when they decide to get married without them thinking, “If that thy bent of love be honorable, Thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow” (Shakespeare 2.2143-145). They are getting married after one day of knowing each other, blinded by the love they have for each other, they were nevering thinking about what will happen if their families find out. This is a bad decision because they never thought this through and knowing their families are from feuding families. These decisions lead them to doing anything for each other because they love each other and they continue to lead themselves to their downfall. Another example of them Romeo and Juliet taking bad decisions is when Romeo decides to commit suicide because Juliet who he believes to be dead, which is actually not dead, “Here’s to my love! O true apothecary! Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die” (5.3.119-120). Just because Romeo is impatient he drives himself into making a bad decision to end his life. Instead of waiting to see what will happen or continued living without Juliet, he rashly decides he cannot go on living. A finally example of Romeo and Juliet making bad decisions when she wakes up and realises Romeo is dead, she says, “ What’s here? A cup, closed in my true love’s hand? Poison, I see, hath been his timeless end. O churl! Drunk all, and left no friendly drop To help me after? I will kiss thy lips. Haply some poison yet doth hang on tem To make me die with a restorative (5.3.161-166). Juliet also acts rashly just the same way Romeo acted, she doesn’t think of another way but she thinks committing suicide is the best way. She decides killing herself is the only way out and makes a bad decision by ending her life.
Despite the explanation on Romeo and Juliet making bad decisions, there is another story which is a myth, as the same similarities as Romeo and Juliet, the myth is, The Love Story of Pyramus and Thisbe retold by Edith Hamilton, both Pyramus and Thisbe made bad decisions of killing themselves and also having a relationship when both their parents are feuding. Pyramus and Thisbe both know their families are feuding and decided to disobey their parents and ignore the consequences that would com after since they both talk to one another through a hole in a wall, “Pyramus and Thisbe communicated through this crack when it was risky to see one another”(Edith Hamilton). Though they are both forbidden to not see each other they still attempt to find a way for them to communicate, their parents are unaware of the affair going on because they are bitterly opposed to them being in a relationship or just being friends for reasons unexplained. Pyramus kills himself because he sees Thisbe cloak filled with blood but he didn’t even venture to look for her, when he says, “you shall drink my blood too”(Edith Hamilton). This is shows that Pyramus couldn’t accept the fact that his one and only love is dead(well she is not actually dead she went into hiding), so he decides to kill himself .This wouldn’t have happened if Pyramus had thought about looking for Thisbe and probably made a good choice. Thisbe also those the same and she decides to also kill herself, she says, “ Your own hand killed you, and your love for me. I too can be brave. I too can love” (Edith Hamilton). Thisbe is also making a terrible mistake by thinking killing herself is the only way and also thinking there is no other person to love apart from Pyramus since she was deeply in love with Pyramus and thought the worse that could happen is their parents finding out they are in a relationship.

Manipulation of Language: Novel ‘1984’
The slogan “two plus two equals five” is a common phrase used in various systems of media especially in chapter seven of the novel 1984 of George Orwell. The slogan is used in the novel as a false dogma that people might be required to believe. From the novel, we learn that the party is so powerful such that if it says 2+2=5, the citizens believe. People do not perceive the contradictions to be enslavement but let the party tell them what to believe, think, act and value. The party manipulates what people know so that they can control their mind and actions. The situation is evident when Orwell writes that, 'The masses never revolt of their own accord, and they never revolt because they are oppressed. Indeed, so long as they are not permitted to have standards of comparison, they never even become aware that they are oppressed.' Therefore, citizens have permitted the government to change ideals whenever they choose, believe the fresh propaganda and repress the previous reality (Yeo 51). Orwell uses the slogan in his book to show the lies and truth, especially in the political world.
Besides, the slogan has been used by politicians and government leaders to prove and justify their claims. From the novel, Orwell presents a world where systemic thinking, a form of solipsism embodied in O'Brien and symbolized by the Party has permeated and dominated all aspects of people's living. He writes, “Doublethink means the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one’s mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them.” (Orwell 47). The quotation emphasizes that the ability of understanding two contradictory viewpoints is good, though Orwell’s doublethink indicates newspeak term for citizens to acknowledge party’s contradiction but being able to recognize what all that means. Orwell is interested in showing that political language can deceive citizens by masking the truth. The ministry of truth can be termed as the department of propaganda as well as a misnomer considering that its actions are contrasting and are responsible for the essential falsification of historical events. Orwell says that “The past was erased, the erasure was forgotten, and the lie became the truth.” (Orwell 40). An example from the novel can be seen when Big Brother makes a prediction which seems wrong and the staffs of the department of truth correcting the recorded articles to make them precise.
Consequently, the phrase where Orwell writes, 'There were truth and untruth, and if you clung to the truth even against the whole world, you were not mad.' The phrase is reflective to contemporary issues whereby individuals are driven and follow the majority so that they do not feel like being outcasts. The aim for this is to portray the government in good light and not committing any evil which is more of publicity than real news. Leaders are always trying to manage the truth whereby modern politicians of diverse persuasions are struggling to control the narrative. The quotation 'War is Peace. Freedom Is Slavery. Ignorance Is Strength.' (Orwell 4) Is a contradictory which shows the way the government manipulates the truth for its people. The party promotes publicity to peak point in exclusive control not only on what people were saying but also on their thoughts and beliefs. From the novel, we learn that every message is intended to propagate signals which are politically thrilling. Propaganda from the book can be said to essentially and revealingly divide into two forms which are fact and fiction. Orwell writes that 'The choice for mankind lies between freedom and happiness and for the great bulk of mankind, happiness is better.' (Orwell 137). Therefore, the government achieves its ideas by publicizing and propagating false facts to the people. Consequently, he explains that publicity is politically used to manipulate or deceive citizens hence, resulting in a community where citizens mindlessly accept every propaganda as reality and unquestionably obey the government.
Besides, language is used in spreading false information indicating that there is nothing right or wrong but only the alternative facts. For instance the phrase, 'How do we know that two and two make four? Or that the force of gravity works? Or that the past is unchangeable? If both the past and the external world exist only in mind and if the mind itself is controllable, what then?' (Orwell Pg84). Therefore, language is perceived as a tool controlling the mind whose vital goal is the annihilation of imagination or will. Besides, the media is a powerful manipulation tool because of public trust and individuals are widely exposed to broadcasts. From the novel, we can see that the party's interest is to mask the truth through the use of media in manipulating language and presenting a distorted reality. Nowadays people have failed to notice that they are allowing themselves to be enslaved. For instance, government leaders change reality with fake news and false facts as well as giving lip service to our disbelief and anger though we allow them to remain in office. Citizens are just letting leaders or those in power to define their reality by accepting propaganda. Therefore, citizens are reversing their states to the similar publicity war of 1984. The only way people can find true peace, strength, and freedom is by refusing blind acceptance of whatever they are told which aims at keeping things non-confrontational and straightforward.

Is Revenge Good or Bad?
I’ve finally come to the conclusion that Hamlets revenge is not justified. This isn't out and out expressed, yet rather suggested. Characters frequently assume that exact retribution is the best way to get conclusion from an awful affair, and when this is followed up on, negative outcomes are not appeared. Seldom is the way that retaliation is double-dealing and wrong raised. Individuals need to wake up and understand that exact retribution is constantly fraudulent and strange. As Christ stated, 'Let him who is without transgression among you be the first to toss a stone at her.' (John 8:7) The play, Hamlet, represents the bad faith of reprisal. In this play, the ruler Hamlet has quite recently lost his dad. While everybody thinks the passing was unplanned, Hamlet's dead dad appears to him and reveals to him that his sibling, Hamlet's uncle, killed him. He directions Hamlet to retaliate for his demise, yet not to hurt his mom, since God and her inner voice will rebuff her. As of now, there is bad faith appeared - the dead ruler confides in God to deal with rebuffing his significant other, yet directions his own child to kill his uncle, as opposed to following what God says, 'Adored, never vindicate yourselves, yet abandon it to the fury of God; for it is stated, 'Retribution is mine, I will reimburse, says the Lord.' (Romans 12:19) Hamlet has some type of religious belief, if his faith was strong I think he wouldn’t have went on a frenzy like he did. Jaime made a good point in her presentation. It was over the movie The Revenant. In the movie the main character seeks revenge on the guy who killed his son and that guy only. She brought up a good point that Hamlet killed more then the person he wanted revenge on. He drug too many people into it that had nothing to do with his father’s death therefore his revenge was not justified. In the play Hamlet says:
“O, what a rogue and peasant slave am I!
Is it not monstrous that this player here,
But in a fiction, in a dream of passion,
Could force his soul so to his own conceit
That from her working all his visage wanned,
Tears in his eyes, distraction in his aspect,
A broken voice, and his whole function suiting
With forms to his conceit—and all for nothing!'
(2.2.577-584)
Hamlet can’t wrap his head around how an actor can get himself to have emotion and cry but he can’t get himself to feel emotion of his father’s death. I really feel connected to this because when my father past away I barely knew him. I didn’t have any emotions but felt like I should. This is another reason why I feel like Hamlet’s revenge is not justified. He doesn’t even have emotions for his dad death, so I feel like he wanted to get revenge just to even things out and I guess make him feel normal.
LAERTES
“How came he dead? I'll not be juggled with.
To hell, allegiance! Vows, to the blackest devil!
Conscience and grace, to the profoundest pit!
I dare damnation. To this point I stand,
That both the worlds I give to negligence,
Let come what comes, only I'll be revenged
Most thoroughly for my father.'
(4.5.148-154)
This quote from Laertes says it all. Revenge is a never-ending cycle and in the end is not justified. In The movie The Revenant the main charters finally has a chance to get his revenge and the person that killed his son said “Killing me won’t bring your son back”. He realized this is true and let him go. Hamlet killing his father’s killer doesn’t bring his father back and never will.

Looking at the Sunset
“Sunsets are so beautiful that they almost seem as if we were looking through the gates of Heaven”(Lubbock). A sunset is one of the most incredible moments in a day. It is the time when the sun goes down in the skyline making a delightful view that even the most powerful words aren't sufficient to depict its beauty. However, at some special places a sunset is like a painting of mother nature protecting and guarding the earth.
As I walk down to the pier and look out at the sky, I finally felt relaxed gazing into the wonderful act of nature. As I shut my eyes, I could hear the soothing sound of the waves brushing again the stones. I felt the beams of the sun begin to warm up my face and arms, so I gradually begin to feeling the sweat falling from my skin. I feel a slight breeze that brushes against my skin, but I do not mind because the breeze felt so cold on my warm skin. The taste of salt lingers on my tongue from the breeze, but it does not bother me. Everything seems so calm.
I open my eyes to an intense assortment of colors, The sky changed from yellow and orange to pink and purple progressing from day to night. The ocean water is currently reflecting the sky. There is a small boat in the distance, that is in the pathway of the sun, resembles the sun is sitting over it like a saucer. Out in the water, I see a few birds that are outlines against the orange-kissed sky. They were calling to one another in that delightful way they do, and the chirping gently pushing the sluggishness from my mind, so my thoughts begin to dance to the melody. Just moments back they would have pale against a blue sky, yet the sundown was processing and soon they would be lost in darkness, perching with head tucked under wing until day break. I will always remember this unforgettable scene in front of me.
For the next hour, I just stand there and stare at the sun setting. I begin to feel relaxed and calm. I feel like time is passing by so slow and i'm loving every minute of it. I feel like every one of my problems are small compared with this enormous ocean before me, and each problem is being washed at any rate by the waves, and in that very moment I feel at peace with my life.
As the day closes to an end, I look out into the horizon, and the sun has relatively set now and simply; the tip is left to vanish shyly descending, quietly, gradually trying to hide into the water. Once the sun totally vanished into the water, I begin to walk gradually back towards the car, and still thinking about the exquisite scenery, all things considered, and realizing that I can't simply come and get this day all the time yet I appreciate each and every piece of it.
A sunset is one of the most beautiful creations. To me, a sunset paints a thousand words; It is a beautiful image to watch to close a day. When it closes a new day forms with new opportunities and hope to bring forth a better and brighter day. “Sunset are proof that no matter what happens every day can end beautifully”(Butler).

Why i Chose my Major?
Grief is something that we all experience at some stage of our lives, therefore we do not get much opportunity to learn how to deal with it. Everybody reacts differently to the loss of someone close. I don't think anyone ever thinks about tragedy until they are actually faced with devastating news. A harrowing experience for me, was with my 35 year old sister that had such a impact on my life, who was a registered nurse. She had became very sickly and started undergoing treatments on dialysis due to kidney failure. I remember talking to my sister on April 10,2018 full of excitement about taking my hesi exam on April 11,2018 so I could start nursing school like we planned, I didn’t know that it would be the last day I would ever speak to my sister again. I never thought about losing someone that I adore. Death was something beyond my understanding until April 11,2018.
As a child the medical field was always something to be apart of in my family. When I was just 10 years old I knew I wanted to become a nurse. When I asked my mom to go to work with her to see exactly what she does, I was so appalled by the care and love she provided for her patients. I always had a passion for caring for others I knew I wanted to be apart of the nursing community. It inspired me to become a nurse. I realized after spending two years a university and being told that it was a 2 year waiting list for the nursing program and my grades had to be a 83% or better in each subject, I wanted to take a different route. My sister encouraged to start off as an LPN,then RN so that I could work towards of becoming a CRNA. She always told me this was the route she wish she would have took because it’s financially cheaper and that it’s actually a lot more hands on. When my sister began to get very sick I helped my mom take care of her 24/7 it was like a full time job for me. Sitting at her bedside looking at her gazing brown eyes my sister made me promise her that I would keep going to prepurse my dreams if something was to ever happen to her. I knew at that very moment I had to make my sister proud and follow my dreams of becoming a nurse not only for her but for me.
On April 11,2018 it was a bright sunny morning around 11:00 am, I was scheduled at Hondros to take my first Hesi exam. I was very nervous but excited at the same time. In the car I prayed and prayed that I would do good on my exam considering the fact that I talked to my sister the night before and we prayed together. After the exam was completed I was anxious to find out my results and the only way that I would want to see my results if my sister was there to open them with me. When I glanced at my phone to see what time it was I seen missed calls from my dad and messages from my mom that I need to be on my way to Sinai Grace hospital and that my sister had to have emergency surgery on her heart. I told my admission advisor that I had a family emergency and I would like to take my results with me. On my way to the hospital I had many things running through my head I knew in my heart my sister was going to be okay.
When I arrived to Sinai Grace hospital, I immediately parked my vehicle. I grabbed my hesi exam results anticipating opening my results by my sister bedside after her surgery. As I walked into the hospital I found my mom, sisters, grandma and father sitting in the waiting room. My father hugged me and said “ your sister is a fighter she got this .” We waited patiently in the chapel for the doctors to complete the surgery. All my family sitting around the chapel gazing into the eyes of the angels on the wall. Me and my sisters were silently praying for recovery for my sister. Shortly after praying for 2 hours the doctors walked into the chapel. They had a distressed look on their face, and I knew in my heart and soul that something was terribly wrong. The doctors said“I'm so sorry we did everything we could do and she did not make it.” My heart fluttered with pain and my knees began to tremble. I fell on my knees and began to ask the lord “ How can you take such an extraordinary person out of my life.” From that day forward I questioned my faith and asked god why did this happen to me.
As days passed by I slowly sank into a deep depression and anticipating on committing suicide. Laying on my bed staring at a crubbled envelope sticking out of my jacket with my hesi results inside. I quickly realized that this is not what my sister would want for me. The day I decided to open my results was when I did my sisters hair and painted her finger nails for her funeral. I was happy I could get some alone time with her and talk to her and say my final goodbyes. When I opened my results I was in disbelief. I had failed my hesi exam by 2 points. Looking at my sister I know that she wouldn't want me to quit or be discouraged. 3 weeks after my sister funeral I planned to take my exam again. Once I sat in the hesi room for the second time i felt my sister spirit with me. I knew this time I was going to pass my hesi. After I received my results and I passed my exam, I knew at this very moment I will continue my path as being a nurse.
After my sister death it left an empty hole in my stomach. It felt like someone ripped a whole out of my chest. My sister deserved a better life than the one handed to her, but I do know everything that God does happens for a reason. Losing a older sibling is something I could never get over. It is amazing how many things we take for granted can vanish in a blink of an eye, everything you once had can be taken away from you. Cherish every moment you have with a loved one because tomorrow is not promised. As a nurse my duty is to be the best nurse that I will be just like my sister. My goal is to be the comfort for many of patients that will undergo the same experiences that I have endured.

France is Country i would Like to Visit
As the world leader nation in culture and art, France attracts millions of tourists and students that travel to France every year to discover its wonders. From an incredible rich cultural heritage, to its fine cuisine, arts, diverse geography, diverse architecture, and more. As an interested student in culture and history, I would love to explore the past of Brittany and the Loire Valleys’ towns and discover what pieces of history characterize each region and makes them unique from the rest. Brittany is located in the northwestern part of France and borders the Atlantic Ocean and the Bay of Biscay to the south. Brittany first settlers were the Neanderthals, then the homo sapiens replaced them about 35,000 years ago and proof of it are the Carnac Stones that were erected by the Neoliths.
During that prehistorical period, Celtic tribes inhabited the Armorica peninsula and it came to be known as Brittany. In 56 BC Julius Caesar invaded the region, and it became a province of the expanding Roman Empire called Gallia Lugdunensis. Towns and villages developed with the Roman standard. Likewise, Julio Cesar also conquered the Loire Valley in 52 BC and is located in central France, east of Brittany. Roman expansion of the Lorie Valley was particularly notable during the reign of the Emperor Augustus. Major towns such as Angers, Bourges, Orleans, Chartres, and Tours were developed with the Roman standards. During the Renaissance the Chateaux of the Loire Valley were constructed and became an important architectural legacy in the Lorie Valley. Officially there are about 42 chateaux that strung along the Loire Valley. They represent architectural achievements in France. Brittany and Loire Valley are important places that can offer students important historic pieces and that reveal some aspects of how France has been shaped.
One historic characteristic that distinguish Brittany from the rest of the regions is its strong Celtic background. Celtic Britons migrated from southwest Great Britain to Armorica to avoid the Germanic tribes that were invading Great Britain. They migrated in two waves from the 3rd through the ninth century. Armorica was named by the Romans, but later the with the migration of the Bretons, it was called Brittany. In the 5th and 6th period Welsh monks and Irish monks settle in the north and helped in the evangelization of Christianism. This is because some Celtics’ religion was related to the nature elements and had many gods and goddess. Other Celtics from Welsh were already Since then, Brittany became the most devoutly to Catholicism in France. In the 8th century, Aubert, Bishop of Avranches witness the appearance of the archangel Michael in a dream who instructed him to found Le Mont ST-Michael Abbey. this is located in a small rocky island in a wide bay that stretches from Normandy to Brittany in northwest France. Breton language is still spoken in Brittany. Many Breton festivals revive the Celt traditions in Brittany. Such as The Fest-noz, gavottes, an dro hanter dro and the pinn. During the festival, women use traditional long black dresses and men wear medieval and renaissance clothing with tights and wooden shoes. Traditional Celt food is still served in Brittany are the krampouezh-crepe and a beverage called chouchenn, a Breton type med. The Bretons try to keep their traditions still alive and we can be witnesses of that just by visiting Brittany.
A characteristic that distinguish The Loire Valley are the Chateaux. The Loire Valley has served as favorite destination for the French royalty. It was The Loire Valley were the Royals and nobles left their footprint and legacy with the construction of many beautiful renaissance chateaux. The place is enchanting and the lakes and rivers crossing the city, the sunflower fields and beautiful pristine gardens provides a lush fairy tale illusion. Each chateau in the Loire Valley has its own features and unique story. For instance, Chateau de Chenonceau, also known as “the ladies castle” has its origins in 1512 when Thomas Bohier acquired a small fortress by the River Cher and decided to convert it in a renaissance style chateau. His wife Katherine Briconnet oversaw the construction.
However, they had to hand over the chateau to the monarchy to pay off debts. Subsequently, Henri II gave it to his mistress Diane de Poitiers. She then added to it a bridge over the Cher and beautiful gardens. When Henri died, queen Catherine de Medici forced Diane out and added the Chenonceau a gallery and a grand ballroom over the bridge Diane built. Another important Renaissance chateau in the Loire valley, characterized by its extravagance is the Chateau de Chambord. Started in the 16th century by Francois I who decided to build a hunting lodge. The chateau contains over 400 rooms, 365 fireplaces and 84 staircases, including the famous double spiral staircase whose construction is attributed to Leonardo da Vinci as he was a guest of Francois I and resided at Close-Luce near the royal residence at Amboise.
Brittany and the Loire Valley are amazing places to explore the French history and culture as they have unique historic characteristics that define them. I believe that visiting Brittany, will help me to understand more about the Celtics and even experience the place in a Celtic way. Similarly, by visiting The Loire Valley and touring the chateaux there, I will have the opportunity to learn about the Royal’s lavish life and history that defines the Renaissance. Aside from learning history and cultural aspects of these regions and taking advantage on being there, I would also like to enjoy the cuisine and wine these regions produce that are also a delicacy I wouldn’t like to miss.

Ups and Downs in Life
Life is an elegant beauty like holding a rose but you must be careful of the thorns. Though it is full of ups and downs like a mountain it difficult to climb yet once your at the peak its beautiful.
To some people, life is hard, cruel and merciless. These set of people think and see life as a way of punishment throughout their entire lives. They therefore subdued themselves to fate, believing all is over. To those individuals, nothing that they do can ever be good. They take delight in committing crimes and leeching others to avenge their bad luck. They’ve become lost and misguided and most times, some of them go as far as committing suicide, just to escape the hard injustice life has shown to them.
But there are those individuals who see life as a challenge, a movie about discovery and innovation in life, a drive for success and a gateway to wealth. To them life is sweet, beautiful and motherly. No matter the situation these people find within themselves, they keep pressing on, convinced in a cause, a cause to flourish and get the most out of life. No wonder an adage says, “Where there is life, there is hope.”
The will to succeed or fail lies within an individual ambition to strive for greatness. You can live life to the fullest with utmost satisfaction and contentment if you determine with all your mind, body and soul to succeed. On the other hand, life can be very hard to you if you take everything for granted and be a slave to fate.
I believe setting goals and strategic plans that will strive no matter the odds which may move against you is one of the basic things needed to get the best out of life. These goals which must be result oriented, should be followed up no matter what even if things seem grey or unyielding at first.
Also, finally the mind is the center of everything. It controls your thoughts process and beliefs. A concentrated mind has never failed. A positive mind helps one to unlock and discover his talents and potentials. Great men and women, both living and dead, had their minds concentrated on an idea and nothing deterred them from achieving that dream. Each of them had a belief, which they held onto, they nurture the belief, focused all their attention and lives on it. And today, we have benefited in one way or the other from their inventions and great ideas .

The Movie “Inside Out”
The movie “Inside Out” depicts how depression happens and what is depression’s cure. This societal issue is presented with compassion, wisdom and a very real understanding that there is a way out. In short, depression results from realizing something you had is gone, but not being able to let go. The film’s writers show how we need to be able to “come apart” in order to “come back together”. No one can do this on their own because as in the film, under the shock of loss, our various parts become disintegrated. This film was widely received and was a box office hit with audiences of all ages. It struck a chord with many people and was extremely thought-provoking.
Until this film was released, depression had never been presented in quite this way. It had been eluded to, or briefly mentioned, but never been the main theme of a major animated movie that targeted young audiences. In the movie we learn about the film’s main character, “Riley, is a happy, fun-loving eleven-year-old Midwestern girl whose world turns upside down when her family moves to San Francisco. Her emotions Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear, and Anger try to guide her through this difficult time, but the stress of the move brings sadness and ultimately depression, to the forefront of her thoughts” (Docter et. Al). When Joy and Sadness move to the recesses of her mind, Anger, Fear, and Disgust take over as the primary emotions. As a result, Riley’s behavior begins to change in ways that shock her parents. She becomes moody, sullen, and talks back when provoked. They realize there are deeper issues going on with Riley than just coping with the family’s relocation. Her mother’s mantra of “just be my happy girl” no longer helped Riley come out of her sad mood.
Riley’s loss of her childhood in Minnesota, with her love of hockey and close friends, doesn’t become apparent to her or her parents until she gets to San Francisco. She struggles to keep the joyful memories alive, but they keep getting mixed up with sadness. The movie shows “personality islands” made of core memories. The islands were family, goofball, hockey, friendships, and honesty. They become weak and vulnerable to collapse which they ultimately do, one by one.
Riley’s journey is her discovery of the fact that joy cannot exist unless it is partnered with sadness. Sadness is a way to get rid of pain without grieving, and when exposed to the inevitable changes and losses of life, joy is unequipped for the pain and the depression that follows. The brilliant insight of this movie is that when we grow and become exposed to more complex life and pain, the earlier memories of ourselves really do die. Riley realizes that there is hope, that there are relationships still available to her. She ultimately returns home to her parents who love her and allow her to grieve. This highlights the need for a supportive environment when dealing with depression. According to Funk and Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia, “Depression is characterized by feelings of worthlessness, guilt, sadness, helplessness, and hopelessness. In contrast to normal sadness or the grief accompanying the loss of a loved one, clinical depression is persistent and severe. It plays a key role in several disorders involving a disturbance in mood”. This definition defines Riley’s behavior after her family relocated. When Riley failed to perform well during hockey tryouts, she ran away from home. She almost boarded a bus to take her back to Minnesota, but at the last minute realized returning home would be a better decision.
The achievement of “Inside Out” is that it shows depression’s nature, cause, and courses of healing for anyone who may have encountered this type of emotional upheaval in their own life. The film was the topic of many talk shows, news features, and chat rooms. It opened a larger conversation to a wide audience. This movie is an outcry to society, basically telling us to give in to our feelings and stop fighting them. It is a wake-up call of the importance of talking about mental health issues and especially to younger generations, who traditionally were not a part of this conversation, even though depression affects young children as well.
Throughout history, many pivotal figures have suffered from depression including Abraham Lincoln, Georgia O’Keefe, Sigmund Freud, and Winston Churchill just to name a few. During their lives, they were able to contribute greatly to society even while battling this affliction. Depression was not as widely talked about as it is today. Many people from all walks of life, regardless of their ethnicity or socioeconomic status suffer from depression. “Approximately 80% of persons with depression reported some level of functional impairment because of their depression and 27% reported serious difficulties in work and home life “(Pratt 1). Both Riley’s home life and school life were deeply impaired by her depression. She struggled with trying to hold onto her joyful childhood while moving in a new direction making new memories. When she finally came to the realization that she could have a new life in a new place, with parents who loved and supported her, Riley became once again “a happy girl”.
In conclusion, “Inside Out” takes you through an adventurous journey through the mind of a young girl. The movie teaches about depression and the affects it has on your mood, behavior, and actions. In the end, everything returns to normal and that shows that life will get better and there is always a brighter side to the picture.
