Is Winter Better than Summer?

The year is divided into four seasons. Everybody enjoys the different seasons in their own way, but everyone is happy with the onset of winter or summer. Winter is the coldest season and occurs between autumn and spring. Summer is the warmest season. It happens between Spring and Autumn during the months of June, July and August. Winter and summer are challenging to compare, although one can find a lot of positive qualities in both seasons of the year.

Both seasons have an effect of laziness on people because of its extreme cold and heat. However, each season possesses their own peculiarities and moods. Children are always excited for winter. This Season attracts people with the beauty of the decoration of trees, streets, and the surrounding world as a whole, covering everything with a white fluffy blanket of snow. In winter, it’s as if all of nature falls asleep with a sweet dream, to bloom again in the spring. Children love the winter season because of all the different things that can be done in the snow and cold, along with the great holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s. When snow falls, everyone rushes to the yard to make igloos, snow angels, and snowmen. Young children to adults love to make snow masterpieces and enjoy the pleasure of winter. In addition, in good sunny weather, with a slight frost, people can ski, sled, go to a skating rink to play hockey or even take a walk through the parks, breathing in the frosty air.

Sometimes, near the holidays, you can hear Christmas Carols being sung in the neighborhoods. These sounds, along with the snow falling, gives you a fairytale feeling. Every person knows how beautiful it is when walking in the snow, street lights reflecting a warm glow on the streets. The sky is full of stars, sparkling like trillions of small diamonds. The cold can be hard to deal with but with warm boots, bulky sweaters, scarfs, mittens and warm coats anyone can enjoy the weather. It's very nice to come home from enjoying the cold weather and drink hot chocolate, watching a blizzard from your window.

Summer is the time when flowers bloom and the trees look greener than before. There are gardens growing with an abundance of fruits and vegetables. The air is full of numerous smells of flowers and fruits. “Or watch honey-bees busy around the hive of a summer forenoon, or animals feeding in the fields, or birds, or the wonderfulness of insects in the air, or the wonderfulness of the sundown, or of stars shining so quiet and bright” (Whitman). Summer is also loved by many people. First, this is the time children are out of school, free from homework and learning. Both adults and children can relax and have a rest. Summer brings with it a warm sun and a variety of fun. People can go to lakes or oceans to sunbathe, swim, take a boat ride, go fishing, and soak up in the rays of the sun. On ponds and lakes, there are many birds: swans and ducks, as well as flowering lilies.

It is nice to go for walks or go camping, just live in nature. “Or wade with naked feet along the beach just in the edge of the water, or stand under trees in the woods” (Whitman). In the summer, people are positive and joyful. Only at this time of year can people see so much greenery, or flowering meadows that look like a carpet. It is possible to breathe in the smell of the flowers, listening to the sound of grasshoppers, bumblebees and dogs barking in their yards. In a thunderstorm you can run barefoot in the warm puddles.

Summer is a perfect time to go to the ocean and just listen to the sound of the waves crashing on the shore. “To me the sea is a continual miracle, the fishes that swim—the rocks—the motion of the waves—the ships with men in them, what stranger miracles are there?” (Whitman). The sea and ocean possess a magic of the summer nights, it is mesmerizing and allows you to forget everything for a while. In my own experience, every person who has just come from a summer vacation has beautiful thoughts and memories of evenings on the sand, the salty smell of the fresh sea breeze, and visions of the far stars in the dark cobalt sky.

Just like in winter, you need the right clothing to be able to enjoy the heat in summer. Light clothing, sandals, shorts and if you’re on the beach, definitely a bathing suit.

In terms of the comparing and contrasting of the winter and summer seasons, it becomes clear that every time of the year is beautiful and unique in its own way. They complement each other, bringing a variety in our lives along with specific moods and emotions. Therefore, both of the seasons are deeply connected with emotional patterns of people. Winter is Christmas and summer is sweet dreams of vacations. Also, both seasons can bring great times with family and friends during the perfect and cozy evenings of the winter time as well as perfect picnics under the starry sky of the summer nights.

To conclude everything mentioned above, winter and summer are traditionally perceived as opposite seasons of the year. These two extreme seasons have different effects on the environment and on the people. However, due to the concept of “survival of the fittest,” living things have learned to adapt every time seasons change.

Without the cold air and snow of the winter, people would not appreciate the warm days of the summer and vice versa. A diversity of the seasons give people a whole range of emotions, feelings, memories, moods and stories.

The Future i Want

Throughout the span of 10 years, I have exchanged profession ways continually. My first thought was to turn into a vocalist, then, at that point an artist, and afterward an entertainer—perhaps every one of the three immediately. I preferred how individuals would periodically praise me on my tone when I sang, and I figured why shoudl I  stop there? I needed to become somebody incredible, somebody who changed the world; mostly through vain behaviors. Then, at that point I changed to a more political viewpoint and contemplated being a legal counselor. My mom said I would cause a decent legal advisor since I to figure out how to stay away from inquiries by not straightforwardly responding to them.

Today, I seek to be an essayist, any kind of essayist—a writer, a columnist, a blogger, anything. This was the doing of my 4rd grade educator, who read a brief tale I worked for all to hear and said, "If this young lady doesn't turn into an author, I don't have a clue who will." The hidden association between these positions is that another person disclosed to me I could be them. That I would be "acceptable" at singing, or a "gifted" author. However, picking something dependent on what others say doesn't engage me. Indeed, I need to be an essayist, however is it for the right explanation?

"Live life to the fullest, love what you do." I discovered this statement while attempting to break my temporarily uncooperative mind for an English exposition. It could be messy and abused, however I think there is more significance to it than simply an adage on a hand towel. At the point when a great many people read this, the primary thing they consider is their profession. Why would that be? I think it is on the grounds that we consequently connect the action words "do" and "be" with a task. At the point when somebody inquires, "What would you like to be?" People will in general say their future or current vocation decision. I have never heard somebody react with a feeling or a nontangible thought.

Contemplating this, I discovered my response for what I need to be the point at which I grow up. Rather than picking a potential occupation that will change on numerous occasions, I need a drawn out arrangement. Over the span of one lifetime, I need to be content. Understanding this, the inquiry, "What would you like to be?" probably won't give the right stage to my answer, "I need to be content." Maybe the proper inquiry for this answer is, "How would you like to exist?" When I "grow up" I need to exist joyfully. In spite of the fact that it sounds basic, I can envision it most likely will not be as simple to do. There will be highs and, there will be lows. I intend to take on the lows cheerfully as my sword, and with the information that I will survive the ordeal. Possibly I will end up being an essayist, or perhaps I will not. Whatever I pick vocation shrewd, I realize it will be on the grounds that I am cheerful doing it.

Educate or Train Leaders

In a large organization such as the U.S. Army, quality leadership is an important facet that will help the U.S. Army have an edge its competition. However, quality leadership is not always just available. In order for an organization to build a strong foundation of leaders there needs to be some type leadership development plan. The quality of the development plan can have a direct correlation to the quality of leaders produced through that development plan. Education and training should be the major components of any development plan. Education and training are both very different, yet they are both needed for their own individual aspects of development. The best leaders will have the right ratio of educations and training.

Education is all about didactic learning, and may be learned from scratch or build on knowledge they one already possessed. For example, although one might be fluent in English, they will still have to take English courses in school. Education is strictly based on theory so practical application may not always be immediately possible. Many careers such law or medicine have mandatory period of practical training following education. The benefits of education are not always immediately evident. Education gives the leader a strong foundation for tools such as independent, or creative thinking, as well better understanding of known and unknown things. Education is designed to create and an adaptive leader for a dynamic environment. Education can be the base one which skills are built. Overall, education will aid a leader see the bigger picture, and give the leader the ability troubleshoot any problem, known or unknown, that the leader may come across. However, education can fall short when it comes to learning specific skills and tasks.

When it comes to performing specific task and skills, education can be useful by familiarizing the leader with what is going on, however training will provide specific instruction in order to master individual tasks. Training will enable the leader to perform a task rather than simply know about the task. Training is typically skill oriented. Training is often specific to the needs of a mission. With the vast number of training options, training can be very efficient and easily accessed. Training is also far more time effective than education. Training can also produce immediate benefits. However, even though training seems to be the ideal method of development, there key reasons training should not be used on its own. Training is great when standardized results are needed, however in an adaptive environment a merely trained leader will be in uncharted waters and have no solution to any problem that has deviated from the known. Training produced quick results, because it only shows the leader what to do, but it does now teach the lead how or why.

Obviously, a leader who can perform one task very well but fails to adapt to different tasks would be a horrendous leader, especial in today ever changing society. However, a leader that knows a lot about everything yet can’t put the knowledge to use is also no help to an organization. Therefore, the ideal method of developing a leader is to educate and train. For example, a paramedic goes to school for a long period of time. Initially the paramedic will learn various aspects of human anatomy, and physiology. Further education will build on previously learned information and teach the paramedic how various interventions will affect the patient and so on. Finally, the paramedic will be trained on a variety of skills, such as intravenous access, and intubations. The paramedic needs to then use the knowledge gained to properly assess a patient and based on the finding determine which intervention is necessary to fix whatever issue the patient has. Just like a paramedic, leaders should be well educated. A leader needs to know the basics, and continue to be educated to build on knowledge that has already been learned. Once the leader has a strong base of knowledge then training can help the leader put the knowledge to use in a practical way. Now, instead of becoming vapor locked when there is a change from the standard to which the leader has been trained, the leader can use critical thinking to adapt and overcome problems that arise. Development of the leader’s education and training should never stop. Continued education can broaden the leaders ability to problem solve, and further training can lead to better performance.

Having a well-educated and trained leader may not give an organization world changing moments, however they will contribute to everyday innovation. Leaders will be able to solve problems just before or after they occur, and figure out new ways to make the organization as a whole run more smoothly. When an organizations success rests on the quality of its leaders, development of those leaders should be the top priority because any other investment will become obsolete.

Major Trends that Will Shake the Business World  (essay)

As noted in recent weeks, the business world has experienced a lot of changes. Specifically, this memo addresses the major trends that will have implication on the business world.

According to information from Forbes, the business world continues to change in various aspects that range from sales projections, marketing campaigns, and consumer preferences among others. It is not surprising that many enterprises would want to respond to the various modifications so that they can survive in the competitive environment. A review of the trends that will shake the business world was particularly interesting that I found it important to share with you. According to Forbes, a greater reliance on a freelance workforce will be a major trend, and it will affect the way businesses operate. The concept will help businesses to scale up and accomplish many roles simultaneously (Young Entrepreneur Council). It will also allow employees to work in the comfort of their homes, an aspect that will improve their productivity due to the boosted morale. Another major trend will be blockchain’s interruption of new industries. While it has already made a great impact on the banking industry, it is likely to make its way into other upcoming businesses.

Furthermore, social shopping will be on the rise. According to Daisyme’s argument, as stated in Forbes, the upcoming holiday season will signal the growth of online shopping. Due to the advancement in technology, most people are spending most of their accessing the internet. The modern electronic devices such as smartphones have made access to the internet easier and convenient. Besides, there are many companies that do their sales online such as Amazon and eBay. In this case, any upcoming business person must think about how he or can target customers from the online platforms. Equally, people anticipate artificial intelligence and machine learning. Due to the increment of demand from clients to build apps that involve artificial intelligence and machine learning, professionals in information technology are now forced to enhance their skills in AI and ML tools to take care of the growing demand.

Wellness at work is another trend that will impact the business world. Currently, people are more concerned about balance and simplicity. According to Forbes, employees prefer working smarter as opposed to working hard. The phenomenon is gaining momentum especially during the current information technology era where more employees can fit in flexible or remote roles. Apart from that, there is an increasing trend by customers to reach out on the customer service team by text. However, the availability of various tools such as the Facebook app, iMessage and WhatsApp has influenced this trend (Young Entrepreneur Council). The reason for this tendency is that customers desire immediate answers and more informal means of communication. To a large extent, businesses are now shifting to standing desks as opposed to the traditional sit-to-stand desks. The reason is that many Americans are aware of the benefits of staying health. Many people perceive that working while standing reduces chances of acquiring lifestyle diseases such as obesity and diabetes.

As a distinguished leader and employer, I am pleased to inform you about the recent trends that will influence businesses. I hope that this is the information that you wanted, and I am ready to do more if needed.

Athletes’ Hard Work Brings them Success (essay)

Success is the ending stage of what you have been building. As an athlete the footsteps to success are paved by the hard work of an individual. The determination, sweat, failure, and hustle define them as an athlete. In addition, athletes who practice their craft, stay after practice, go to the gym, tend to succeed in more ways than one.

As it may be hard to comprehend, Michael Jordan, an nba basketball star, was cut from his high school basketball team. Imagine, a player who has won six final champions, to be cut from a high school basketball team. However, Michael worked day after day to prove he was a varsity athlete. While on junior varsity Jordan put up forty points as the star player. However, over the summer Jordan grew four inches making his height 6’6. With that height he spent days practicing his craft outside. This advantage and his constant work ethic put him on the varsity squad where he became the number one scorer. Without his hard work even facing adversity Jordan would still be an average basketball player. Although Michael Jordan had a strong work ethic he also worked through obstacles. Being an amazing player held many responsibilities. When Jordan was first drafted in the league he had a jump shot that was not sufficient in the NBA with other star athletes. As being a overachiever he began to work on his jump shot throughout the offseason by shooting jumpers until they were perfected. He would shoot at least at hundred a day.

Success is given to athletes you are able to work for every inch. As a young girl, Bethany Hamilton loved to surf, until a traumatic accident happened one day while in the water with her friends. As Bethany was enjoying life on her surfboard a tiger shark engaged with her left arm leaving nothing but her shoulder behind. As a rising superstar Hamilton did not let her one arm stop her. After one month from the attack Hamilton set back off into water with the assistance of her father. She trained day after day to work on her balance, get on the board, and paddle through the water. In fact, less than a year later she won the national championship of surfing. She used her talent and her disadvantage to work through her obstacle and become everything she was meant to be.

Athletes are expected to maintain their talent by improving their endurance. As an athlete Kobe Bryant, a Los Angleles Lakers, was a smart talented leader of the Lakers. He became the second player to score eighty-one points in a basketball game. However, Bryant was a player who worked through every obstacle thrown his way.

The Importance of Critical Thinking and Problem Solving (essay)

Two of the most essential skills in the leaders toolbox are critical thinking and problem solving. These two mindsets go hand-in-hand; when you possess both, it is likely that your solutions will be better formed to the situation than if you only mastered one or the other. Both leaders and their subordinates need to be able to think through goals and raise the necessary questions for the successful completion of the mission; this includes mitigating any problems that may arise.

This lesson was most beneficial to me as a leader because without critical thinking and problem solving, minor problems that could’ve been solved through thinking thoroughly about the goal at hand could escalate and cause the mission to fall apart. Lack of critical thinking and problem solving skills may cause a Soldier to choose the most obvious solution rather than the correct solution. To use both of these mindsets efficiently, you must observe the situation in depth and view the whole picture as well as the end goal.

The implementation of critical thinking and problem solving within my unit would not be too hard to achieve. I would give a brief on what I learned to my Soldiers to inform them on the processes. I would go over the elements of critical thinking as well as the seven steps of the Military Problem Solving Process. Scenarios supplied after the brief would test their critical thinking and problem solving skills. After the completion of technical training, I would ask questions of my troops when new tasks would come up in order to get them thinking in the right direction of putting their new found skills into action. This type of implementation, effective as it may be, takes a good chunk of time which is something that we don’t have much of at my unit.

The largest barrier against implementing critical thinking and problem solving that would occur in my unit is time constraints. As an aviation battalion, we rarely have any down time during the work day; there is always some task that needs completing and normally within a specific time frame, leaving little room for critical thinking in people who are just learning the tactic. This, unfortunately, makes a good number of soldiers within my unit “yes men”. They follow the instructions given to them and don’t think about the situation themselves. This is a relatively difficult obstacle to overcome, but there are ways that you can accomplish it. The brief could be spread over a few days, reducing the time constraints on each day so that tasks can still be completed in a timely manner. I would check up on the Soldier’s critical thinking and problem solving practice by randomly going to their work stations and asking them to analyze a short scenario. It would provide a needed break from the regular everyday activities and teach them a valuable skill.

Critical thinking and problem solving are two of the most valuable skills that a Soldier could learn. They allow us to examine the issue at hand and provide solutions that are the best fit possible. Implementation of these principles in my unit should be necessary, and although time constraints may impact their introduction to the Soldiers, learning them is highly beneficial for the success of the mission.

K-pop is a Global Sensation (Research Paper)

Korean pop music, also known as K-pop, is becoming very popular in the couple of past years. People mostly knew of K-pop by listening to the three major entertainment companies YG Entertainment, JYP or SM Entertainment. The most popular groups to this companies were/are to former girl group 2NE1, BigBang, Psy under YG entertainment. Miss A, 2PM, Wonder Girls under JYP. As for SM Entertainment are the artist EXO, Girls Generation, Super Junior, Shinee, BOA and F(X). Even though some of this groups are world known as well there is one group that has gotten much more attention than any other group, this group is no other than BTS but surprisingly BTS is not under any of the 3 major companies.

To become a K-pop idol, the person usually trains for years but some get lucky and debut under a year. From being a K-pop fan for some years already, some like BigBang’s leader G-Dragon trained since he was 13 years old. Not all the trainees that train around the same time get to debut together some of the groups are formed and usually the person that has been training for a longer time becomes the leader. But why has K-pop gotten popular if it is not for their history of training, some would say because of their visuals like stated on The Korean Popular Culture Reader, “One might cite, for example, the rise of Korean soft masculinity via the kkonminam (lit. “flower- handsome man”)” (p316) it is true that most people start by liking boy/ girl groups because of their visuals but like JungBong Choi and Roald Maliangkay stated on K-pop- the international Rise of the Korean Industry, “ It is a mosaic that blends storytelling, music, group dance, body performance, and fashion show. In terms of musical and performative conventions, it draws on hip hop, Euro techno, grunge, pop, and rap, all the while incorporating contemporary choreographies, acrobatics, and runway acts.” (p5) BTS is known for dances and music.

BTS has become popular due to their music the message they send. For their new album Love Yourself: Answer, one of the lyrics say,

You’ve shown me I have reasons

I should love myself

I’ll answer with my breath, my path

The me of yesterday, the me of today, the me of tomorrow

(I’m learning how to love myself)

With no exceptions, it’s all me

BTS has been giving this message to all their fans. They are the first group that was invite to speak at the United Nations, as Kim NamJoon said in his speech, “Looking back, that’s when I began to worry about what other people thought of me and started seeing myself through their eyes. I stopped looking up at the stars at night. I stopped daydreaming. I tried to jam myself into molds that other people made. Soon, I began to shut out my own voice and started to listen to the voices of others. No one called out my name, and neither did I. My heart stopped and my eyes closed shut. So, like this, I, we, all lost our names. We became like ghosts. I had one sanctuary, and that was music. There was a small voice in me that said, ‘Wake up, man, and listen to yourself!” But it took me a long time to hear music calling my name.” This is another reason BTS has been popular, their songs have some of their real experiences and some struggles they have gone through that other people are also going through similar events. For their recent concert here at Los Angeles, BTS added extra dates to their tour, they performed 4 days at the staples center, as stated on the Billboards, “holding 21,000 people and four shows now happening, there's no doubt BTS have a LOT of fans in the US. Resale tickets are already appearing online for over USD$1000” they are so famous that people actually paid the $1000 and even more. Besides their tour, BTS has performed at the Billboards, AMAs, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Late Show.

Kpop fans spend a lot of money on concerts, CDs, posters and other products related with their idols, like stated on, K-pop- the international Rise of the Korean Industry, “many fans joyfully succumb to the siren call of cosmetic, fashion, gastronomic, digital products, which is endorsed by deified idols and deceptively associated with images and songs of K-pop.” (p8). I have bought many K-pop products just because my favorite groups would use it or that make-up brand belongs to the company they are under. For example, the girl group BlackPink use the make-up brand Moonshot which belongs to YG entertainment and I had gotten a lipstick from that brand at Kcon just because of BlackPink. I had spent more than $800 at Kcon 2017, the concert tickets where $400 each I bought 2 one for myself and one for my younger sister, plus items at the convention which was make-up that cost around $20-$30, face mask, lotions, CDs, posters and more items just because we did not have those items or we had a different version and wanted to have all of them. Besides Kcon 2017 and 2018

There are fans that want to support their idols and there are fans that go overboard, there are some fans known as seasang fans that just to get a glimpse of there idols they follow them, try to kidnap, or even cross-dress just to see them up close. I had noticed this at one of the concerts I had gone to last year, I had gone to the Exo concert and one of the fans had bought tickets to all their locations around their world tour and got GA tickets and would campout to be closer each time, during the concert she had thrown her under garments to the boys. This are the type of fans that give other fans a bad reputation

K-pop has gone from being popular in South Korea and in Japan to be a global sensation. The most popular groups are BigBang, Super Junior, Girls Generation, Miss A, 2NE1, PSY, Wonder Girls, but the most famous recent has been BTS. BTS has been getting popular global wise with their recent Love Yourself tour and albums where in their lyrics they tell their fans to love yourself. Before people would say that they could not sing and it got to them but as in their new song Idol, You can call me artist (artist) you can call me idol (idol) No matter what you call me I don’t care I’m proud of it (proud it) I’m free (free) No more irony (irony) Cuz I was always just me. This is a message saying that no matter what people call them they don’t care if they know who they are. K-po music has a lot of meanings behind the lyrics and the music videos that capture fans hearts and sometimes they can relater and the music can get people through difficult parts of one’s life.

“The Landlady” of Roald Dahl

In “The Landlady”, Roald Dahl emphasizes the idea of not always judging a book by their cover and that everything is not always as it seems, by creating a suspenseful and astonishing tone that keeps readers on edge.. For instance, when Billy rung the doorbell, the Landlady forces the door open. Shocked, Billy thinks, “...Normally you ring the bell and you have at least a half-minute’s wait before the door opens. But this dame was a like a jack-in-the-box. He pressed the bell – and out she popped! It made him jump” (Dahl 1). The reader is initially presented with the idea that the Landlady is desperate for a visitor, but why would she be? Dahl employs a subtle hint of foreshadowing with this statement, as the Landlady reveals something sinister in the end that is emphasized by this event.

The Landlady is first described as a charming and peaceful lady, like somebody who is living out with benevolence. This specific event is only giving us a pinch of the overall theme, as one minor flaw in a character doesn’t exactly lead to the true theme. In theory, the reader would view this as a poor lady who just wants somebody around, but until they look deeper and read between the lines, it’s a whole different story. It’s not until later on in the passage that Dahl reveals something a bit more sinister. In addition, we get an idea of what the true motives of the Landlady are. “‘No, thank you,’ Billy said. The tea tasted faintly of bitter almonds, and he didn’t much care for it. ‘You did sign the book, didn’t you?’ ‘I did.’ ‘Of course,’ she said. ‘And have you met my little Basil as well?’ She nodded towards the dachshund curled up so comfortably in front of the fire. Billy looked at it. And suddenly, he realised that this animal had all the time been just as silent and motionless as the parrot.” (Dahl 3).

Here, we see the true motives of the Landlady. The taste of bitter almonds is the essence of cyanide, as proven by the suicide notes of people who’ve taken cyanide. If the Landlady’s tea has the taste of bitter almonds, it is most likely poisoned with cyanide. If we also factor in the fact that this place has only had 2 guests, both of which have gone missing, the reader can deduce that the Landlady poisoned Weaver and will perform a taxidermy on him, just like the Landlady did to her pets. The shroud of peacefulness and generosity is only covering up the hidden evils and brutality behind the Landlady. The reader wouldn’t have expected this sweet old lady to be a serial murderer with a fetish for taxidermy. This unexpected outcome is what Dahl is using to catch the reader's off guard.

All in all, Dahl employs a mysterious and vague tone along with a large plot twist to convey the idea that nothing is always as it seems. He is able to accomplish this by molding specific characters to portray the main theme, “hidden evils”.

Lactaid White, Kemps White, Kemps Chocolate and Kemps Strawberry Milk

This experiment explored the effect of the level of glucose in Lactaid 1% White Milk, Kemps 1% White Milk, Kemps 1% Chocolate Milk, and Kemps 1% Strawberry Milk, which is broken down by lactase. Lactase supplement tablets have been added to the various milks to test the production of C02 measured in (ppm). The amount of glucose varies by milk. Lactaid Milk has high levels of glucose because the lactose has already been broken down into two monosaccharides, galactose and glucose, making it suitable for lactose intolerant people but a lot higher in sugar content (Lactaid,2018). The independent controlled variable was the Lactaid 1% White Milk. The data of Lactaid 1% White Milk -measured in CO2- was used to compare all of the trials to being: Kemps 1% White Milk, Kemps 1% Chocolate Milk and Kemps 1% Strawberry Milk. The Lactaid milk increased at an average of 422% CO2 and its average of CO2 produced in 600 seconds was 4,258. These values were the largest increases within the tested aerobic respiration due to the disaccharides already being broken down causing more glucose production when the lactase supplement was added. The controlled variables were the amounts of each type of milk, which was kept at 15 mL(+/- 1.0 mL) for each trial, lactase supplement tablet which was kept at 0.25 g (+/- 0.5 g), the time which was consistently 600 seconds (+/- 10 seconds) for each trial and set, and the fat content of the milk always being at 1% for all four types of milk. The dependent variable was the amount of aerobic respiration ,measured in CO2 (ppm), produced. The results showed that the Lactaid milk had the highest amount of CO2 production that had an average rate of 4258 ppm (+/- 0.5 ppm) and an average percent increase of 422% (+/- 0.5 ppm) all within a 600 second (+/- 10 seconds) time frame. The second highest was produced by 15 ml (+/- 1.0 ml) Kemps 1% Strawberry Milk with the mean of aerobic respiration measured in Carbon Dioxide (+/- 0.5 ppm) within a 600 seconds (+/- 10 seconds) being 2,972 ppm (+/- 0.5 ppm). The average percent increase for Kemps 1% Strawberry Milk was 320% (+/- 0.5 ppm). Following Kemps 1% Strawberry Milk with CO2 production, is Kemps 1% Chocolate Milk. Kemps 1% Chocolate milk had an average CO2 production of 1,588 ppm (+/- 0.5 ppm) and an average increase of 171% (+/- 0.5 ppm) within a 600 second (+/- 10 seconds) time frame. The lowest amount of CO2 production came from the Kemps 1% White Milk which had an average of 1,195 ppm(+/- 0.5 ppm) and an average percent increase of 126% ppm (+/- 0.5 ppm) within a 600 second timeframe. The lower the amount of CO2 produced displays that there are still disaccharides to be broken down which is not good for people with lactose intolerance.

The standard deviation (SD) of the highest producing CO2 data set -aside from the Lactaid Milk- is Kemps 1% Strawberry Milk with a 119 SD. The SD of both Kemps 1% Strawberry Milk and Kemps 1% Chocolate Milk were similar, chocolate milk having a SD of 108 and strawberry milk having 119. The SD of kemps 1% White Milk was significantly less than the other two standard deviations with a SD of 44.3. The standard deviation is a representation of the average amount based on the length away of the highest and lowest data points, in comparison to the overall average. As mentioned, the standard deviation of both sets of strawberry milk and chocolate milk are similar which would increase the reliability of the data. However, even though the standard deviations for strawberry and chocolate milk were similar (119 and 108), both deviations ares till very large numbers which show data extrapolation compared to the white milk. The SD for both sets are not very far separated from each other, therefore reinforcing correlation between data sets, making this reliable. The standard deviations are reliable because their averages are close, which shows the average means were closely related to the data collected, therefore making the expected outcome close to the actual outcome. Having these closely related SDs- aside from Kemps 1% White Milk low SD- enforces the validity of results, because the end measurements and averages were common.

There were three T-test values, which were compared to the independent controlled variable which is the Lactaid Milk. The t-test value for Kemps 1% White Milk was 3.81, Kemps 1% Chocolate Milk was 2.60 and Kemps 1% Strawberry was 1.01. The degrees of freedom for this experiment was four, which means that the t-test values must not exceed 9.49 in order to accept the null hypothesis. Within four degrees of freedom, the t-test value can not exceed the p-value of 9.49, which none of the data sets did therefore the null hypothesis is accepted. The t-test for Kemps 1% White Milk was 3.81, Kemps 1% Chocolate Milk was 2.60 and Kemps 1% Strawberry Milk was 1.01 were all lower than the p-value. The p-value is measured at 5% which means that the trials have to be 95% valid to accept the results, and these data sets do not exceed therefore accepting the null hypothesis.

The null hypothesis was accepted because all of the data sets were significantly lower than the p-value at 9.49. The null hypothesis was accepted, and the predicted hypothesis was correct as well. The predicted 1% Kemps Strawberry Milk was the milk that produced the highest amounts of CO2, aside from the independent controlled variable of Lactaid 1% Milk.

In conclusion, the null hypothesis was accepted due to all of t-test values falling lower than the 9.49. Kemps 1% White Milk, t-test being 3.81, Kemps 1% Chocolate Milk being 2.60 and Kemps 1% Strawberry being all within four degrees of freedom did not exceed the 9.49 p-value which would make the results of the experiment reliable.

“One Friday Morning” of Langston Hughes

Langston Hughes was a very well-known American author from Kansas throughout the 20th century. He also attended schools in Topeka and Lawrence. At this time, racial tension was a subject of colossal weight in society. Thus, Hughes felt the need to write stories that would shed light on the ignored racial injustice and segregation at the time.

One instance in which, he displays such concern was when he wrote the story entitled One Friday Morning.

The story took a place in George Washington High where Nancy, a young colored girl excelled in the art of painting, It did not take time for her teacher, Miss Dietrich to take notice of Nancy's perfect talent in the art of painting. As a result, Miss Dietrich facilitated Nancy in entering the scholarship contest, which she won unknowingly. One day, Miss Oshay, the principal of Washington High called Nancy Lee in her office it was raining that day. Nancy was had skeptical, little did she know that she has won the art scholarship. During the same month, Miss Osha called Nancy and informed her that the people took the prize away from Nancy after knowing that she was a black.

This was evidence that racial discrimination was a matter of serious concern, and that was the idea that Hughes was trying to brought.

In One Friday Morning, Hughes clearly narrates Nancy's point of view of the situation as a struggling biohack child who is block by the walls of racial tension. By doing so, Hughes showed empathy by depicting the unfair treatment of African American in the 20th century. This empathetic emotion can be seen in the scene in which Hughes go from Nancy (being happy after cow) being told that she won the prize, to Nancy being sad because the commuter takes the prize away. Moreover, refusing to give Nancy the scholarship art contest prize because of her skin color, evokes a theme of racial inequality as well as a sad recurring tone throughout the lines of Hughes' writing.

Hughes story could be contained in the event that Nancy Lee, an African American girl, had been denied the art scholarship contest prize, after she won it. This was due to the fact that Nancy Lee was a person of color. The conflict of that story resides in the fight for racial equality.

Although Nancy was denied ofthe prize she won because of racism, Nancy and her art teacher Miss O'Shay was however willing to speak up about it. In doing so, the plot of Nancy Lee's story evolves into a story with a theme anchored in equality for all. The first step in establishing that evolution was Nancy's relationship with her art teacher Dietrich who helped her improve her painting. The second step involves the triumph of Nancy, for she has won a prize, and the third is the refusal of her prize due to the opposing forces of racism. The refusal of the prize was the climatic event that triggered Nancy Lee to speak out against racism. Hence, the eventual action of Nancy to fight against racism along with Miss O' Shay constitutes the resolution of the story.

The author effectively communicated the theme of the story by narrating the story in a sequential manner. The grammar was on point, and the story flew naturally from the premise. It is to be noted that the story was structured in a way that conveys a lot of emotion. Ideas are expressed in complete sentences and are paraphrased correctly when needed, The text was well typed and there was no grammatical errors, bad punctuation and autograph.

What is Leadership and what does it Mean to You? (essay)

A leader is a person that inspires someone to do something,a leader is also a person that organize a group of people that have a goal they want to achieve something important to them and they will succeed no matter what. Leadership is when others motivate people to do something that can help someone else. Leaders and leadership can be found in everyone and that will helps keep others motivated and inspired and help keep this earth together. You will know a leader when you see because some of their leadership traits are honesty, forward, and competent. Honest is people who are truthful and are a good leader like how candidates called Abraham Lincoln “honest abe” because he was so honest with them. Forward is when you are trying to figure out where to go from where you are now like how my middle school counselor helped me figure out my high school schedule and helped me figure out what I would like to do in life, because without her I would be lost as a student and a high schooler. Competent is when you demonstrate that you are qualified to do something and people will notice that like how my friend trust me with close secrets because I am responsible and she knows I won't tell everyone. Leaders will use these skills because they want to be honest with the people and tell them the whole truth not just part of it.

There are many great leaders in history that start something or help stop something one great leader you might know is Martin Luther King Jr. (whose name use to be Michael but changed it to Martin) who is known for the civil rights movement. Martin Luther King Jr. accepted this leadership in December,1955. Martin Luther King Jr. was the president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, this organization is for providing leadership for the now burgeoning civil rights movement. The boycott lasted 382 days. During these days of boycotting Martin Luther King Jr. was arrested for boycotting, his home was bombed, and he was personally abused. In the eleven year period Martin luther king traveled over 6 million miles and traveled twenty five hundred times appearing wherever there was injustice, protest, and action. This nonviolent movement helped change the Supreme Court mind in 1964 know as the Civil Rights Act of 1964. One quote Martin Luther King said was “A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus”. At the age of thirty five Martin Luther King Jr. received a Nobel Peace Prize, once he got this award he announced that he would turn this prize money of $54,123 to the civil rights movement. On April 4,1968 Martin Luther was assassinated in his motel room in Memphis Tennessee.

There are many successful business and its all because of the leaders that started the business, but there are some that are not successful but not Apple. Apple is a great successful business the founders of apple Steve Jobs ,Ronald Wayne, and Steve Wozniak. Steve Jobs became friends with Steve Wozniak who had tried to build a small computer. To Steve Wozniak it was a activity but Steve Jobs seized the marketing potential of such a device and persuaded Steve Wozniak to go into business with him. In 1975,Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak set up there shop in Steve Jobs parents garage, they started working on the prototype of apple. To generate $1,350 in capital they use to start up apple,Steve Jobs sold his Volkswagen microbus,Steve Wozniak sold his Hewlett-Packard calculator. Only apple 1 sold to mainly to hobbyist it help Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak get enough cash to improve and refine their designs. In 1977 they introduced Apple 2 the first personal computer with color graphics and a keyboard. The apple 2 was a magnificent success. The first years sales where topped $3 million. Two years later, sales dilated to $200 million. But by 1980 Apples shine was starting to wear off. Competition started increasing which caused apple to lose nearly half its market to IMB. Forced by reducing sales Steve Jobs introduced the Apple Macintosh in 1984. This was the first personal computer featured with graphical-user interface controlled with a mouse, the Macintosh was a true success in terms of easy to use. But the sell behind it was faulty. But Steve Jobs had visualized the Mac differently as a home computer, but at $2,495, it was too costly for the consumer market. When consumers failed to reach prediction,Jobs tried to set up the Mac as a business computer. But with limited memory,no hard drive, and no capabilities, the Mac had almost none of the characteristics that America wanted. Steve Jobs clashed with Apple’s board of directors. In 1983 Job was expelled from the board by CEO John Sculley, who Jobs selected him to help run Apple. They took all power and control,Steve Jobs sold his shares of Apple stock and redesigned in 1985 .Later that year Steve Jobs used a portion of the stock sale,Jobs launched the NeXT computer Co., with the goal an advanced computer that would transform research and higher education. Jobs introduced NeXT in 1988,the NeXT computer introduced fast processing speed, remarkable graphics and a visual disk drive. But the NeXT computer was based on $9,950 which was too expensive to attract enough sales to keep the company in business. Steve Jobs set out to create a computer-animated feature film. The four year film “Toy Story” was a bit hit when it was released November 1995. Steve Jobs took Pixar public in 1996 . After 10 years of struggling Jobs finally had his big hit. After Jobs big hit apple bought NeXT for $400 million and reelected Jobs to Apple’s board of directors as a mentor to Apple chairman and CEO Gilbert F. Amelio. This was a act of desperation on Apple’s part,Because they had failed to develop a next generation Macintosh operating system, the PC market had dropped to just 5.3% and hoped jobs would turn that around. At the end of March 1997,Apple announced that they lose $708 million. The next thing Jobs needed to work on was installing G3 PowerPC microprocessor in Apple computers, this would make the computers faster than competing Pentium PC. Jobs also lead the developed of iMac,a affordable home desktops which launched in August 1998 this boasted sales of $5.9 billion. Over the ten years Apple begin making many products. In October 2011,Jobs passed away due to complications from pancreatic cancer. Steve Jobs was 56 years old when he passed away.

Ida B. Wells – a True Leader

The definition of a leader is, “the person who leads or commands a group, organization, or country.” (Dictionary) When people think of the greatest African American leaders, they tend to lean towards men such as Martin Luther King Jr and Malcolm X. They will go down as some of the post powerful leaders ever but before them there were strong, women leaders, such as Ida B. Wells. In her time, she fought sexism, racism, and violence but that did not stop her determination to make a difference and become a leader.

Ida B. Wells is known for being one of the first activist who fought for the African American Civil Rights movement. She began her story as a slave. She was born into a slave family which resided in Mississippi. After she was born President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation which should have technically declared her and her family free but because the Wells’ family lived in Mississippi it was not until after the Civil War that her and her family were free. Ida B continued on to become a teacher in Memphis TN. Her leadership began when she bought a first-class train ticket. When she boarded the train, the conductor told her that she was not able to sit in first class even though she purchased the ticket. She refused to leave her seat but was later forced to do so. This resulted in Ida B suing the train company, which she won, but the Supreme Court later overruled that decision.

After the Supreme Court overturned the decision Ida began to voice her opinion on racial issues. Not only did she write for local newspapers and magazines she started her own newspaper called, The Free Speech. One of her most important pieces was about lynching. This shed light on the injustice African Americans experienced every single day. The lynching article included a personal story about her friend, Tom Moss. Moss was a business owner whose store was destroyed by a group of white supremacists. Moss was protecting himself and his store and killed one of the white men. This lead to Moss being hung by mob before he could even go to trial. People were not happy that Wells wrote about this incident. She had to move to New York to be safe. While she was in New York her newspaper offices were destroyed so she had to stay there and start a new business. Ida B started a New York newspaper called the New York Age. Here she wrote about how innocent people are being lynches and this allowed people all over the United States to understand what was actually happening. Ida's work and articles had a huge impact in lowering the number of lynching’s that were happening.

Ida became well-known for her writings about racial issues. She worked with other leaders such as Frederick Douglass to fight segregation laws. She was also a huge activist in women's rights, especially women being able to vote. When people think of strong African American leaders Ida B. Wells deserves to be in that list. She fought for the injustice African American’s experiences and women’s rights all while facing her own adversities.

Frederick Douglass Learning to Read and Write

Excerpt : “Very soon after I went to live with Mr. & Mrs. Auld, she very kindly commenced to teach me the A, B, C. After I learned this, she assisted me in learning to spell words of three or four letters.” (p 30 chapter 6)

Analysis: At the time he was being taught the alphabet and learning to spell simple words, he didn’t fully understand that knowledge such as that was a weapon. The slave owners, and white people in general, did not want the slaves educated because they did know that knowledge was power. Keeping the slaves ignorant kept them under control. With the ability to read and write, Douglass was able to read the works of people who wanted to abolish slavery. It lit a fire in him. He was driven with this new weapon of knowledge to learn to understand how wrong and unjust slavery was and ultimately led him to his freedom. As it was throughout the days of slavery, slaves were forbidden to learn to read or write. If they were caught, they would be whipped or worse. The white man feared what would happen with that type of knowledge in the hands of a slave. The slaves could yield it as a weapon to gain freedom in such a way as forging emancipation papers. Peter Fossett did just that for many of slaves including his sister. He also taught other slaves to read and write. Slave owners needed the slaves to remain ignorant thus making them more manageable. Thinking that once you start educating them, they will start to think they are equal to the whites. Frederick Douglass started to figure out a lot of things when he started reading that he otherwise would not have known. He actually used this knowledge to write fake permission papers, which he actually had to destroy before he was caught with them.

Essay about ‘Children Play….not Work!’

Introduction

Good afternoon people of America. My name is Jeffery Kamden Coursey of the American News Society (ANS), and today I am here to discuss an outlandish topic that is, child labor. But in more detail, child labor during the Industrial Revolution.

History of Child Labor during the 1700’s and 1800’s

The majority of child labor took place during the 18th century in England. This time period is what we know as the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial Revolution shaped how we mass produce goods now in the modern era. It was one of the most significant events in the creation of modern society. While the achievements during this time were quite remarkable, It doesn't overshadow the cruelty of putting 100’s of 1000’s of children's lives at risk every day. To put in perspective exactly how many children were working during this time, in 1841 the British Census reported that 107,000 children were employed in the textile industry alone! The work that the children had to accomplish was very risky and dangerous as well. The children were often asked to help fix machines due to the fact that there hands were much smaller than an adults. According to http://www.american-historama.org

“ In 1900 there were 25,000 - 35,000 deaths and 1 million injuries occurred on industrial jobs, many of these victims would have been children. Children had higher rates of injury and death at work than adults and over 50% of child labor was involved in hazardous and dangerous work”. To me these numbers are crazy, 12 hours a day, everyday, risking your life…...as a child! The fact that this occurred in our history, to me is embarrassing.

Child Labor Today

In our world today child labor is not as vast as it was in the 1800’s. That being said, there are still multiple cases of child labor throughout the world. Places such as America and Great Britain that were such huge contributors to the idea during the Industrial Revolution, now no longer support the horrific idea. However when you look at countries around the world such as Somalia, child labor is quite common. According to www.worldatlas.com

“39.8% of children between the ages of 5 to 14, numbering around 1,012,863, are child laborers in Somalia. Only half of children within this age range attend school”. These children work in grueling environments to either pay for their education or to support their families. Some work just to survive! This sounds almost identical to that of child labor during the Industrial Revolution. Both, children work to support their families. Both, a great population of children working. But most of all, Both are wrong!

Conclusion

All in all, children during the Industrial Revolution lived a mostly abnormal life by today's standards. Twelve hour a day shifts for almost 6 days a week is crazy even today, for an adult! That being said, it's a time in both America and Great Britain's history that we have moved away from. While most major countries don't accept the idea, child labor is a growing catastrophe around the world. Hopefully one that will be put to a definite end. This is Jeffrey Kamden Coursey from the American News Society telling you, children play…..not work!

Need to Strive for Gaming Addiction Free Society

In today’s context, an increasing number of people are concern more about gaming addiction. More and more people begin to have a certain dependence on games, in order to help people better understand some problems; scholars have done a lot of research and statistics. Furthermore, researchers have studied the subject of game addiction in three aspects?from the teacher’s point of view, from the parents’ point of view, from the game itself.

Firstly, Lee Kem's study to the teachers of how gaming addiction threatens students' success. The gamer addiction is an obsession with video game playing that usually begins in elementary and middle school. He cited a number of authoritative statistics to prove the harm of gaming addiction to students. Many American students thus affect the normal life of their families and their studies. Here are two examples, a 19-year-old male student and a senior female student. The male student has poor grades, lack of sleep, missed a lot of classes, while the female student has excellent grades, lack of sleep, and severe procrastination, all due to their heavy dependence on video games. Besides, the major two characteristics of Gamer Addiction are withdraw and isolation. This makes them depressed and causes them trouble. As a means of escaping from reality, games bring people a sense of control that cannot be experienced in life, and there is no fear of the unknown. Therefore, many college students are addicted to games which make them aggressive and gloomy. In addition, in order to help addicted students, teachers should learn to identify them and intervene in time. It is clearly identified as one of the chief causes of addiction to the young students.

Secondly, a video game guide for parents. This section tells them how to avoid addiction of their children. Video games have many addictions, and some games have no negative effects such as sex or violence, but are easily addictive. For example, a very simple game will be free to play to attract people. The beginning will give some very simple tutorials and tasks, once completed, there are a lot of rewards, and then more and more difficult, so people will want to play more and more. Others are waiting to play, moving the doorpost, moving the progress bar, continue the article after the AD, and playing with friends, all of which are addictive to the children. Parents can try to understand their children's games and see if there is an addictive factor to help them better balance games and life. As a result, parents should do something to prevent their children from becoming addicted.

Third, Dr. Brent discusses some of the reasons of video game addiction. There are 15 reasons: have no pre-defined ends, feed a need of making social connections, game rewards are based on leveling system, and encourage play and collaboration with gamers worldwide, etc. These reasons show that video games are addictive because they can easily satisfy people's desires that cannot be realized in normal society, can help people vent their bad emotions, and create a comfortable environment for people so that they do not want to get rid of it(Mehroof, M et al. (2010). In conclusion, in addition to the influence of external pressure, the game itself has many addictive factors.

At last, Lee, Dr. Brent, and many other researchers have analyzed the causes of gaming addiction in terms of teachers, parents, and the game itself, and have provided many suggestions to help children prevent addiction.

“A Talk to Teachers” of James Baldwin (Rhetorical Analysis)

In ¨A Talk to Teachers¨, James Baldwin describes 1963 as 'very dangerous.' James Baldwin’s main point is to make known how educators added to racism in society during 1963. At the time that Baldwin wrote, ¨A talk to Teachers¨, the society was ¨very dangerous” because that’s when the Civil rights movement was at its peak. Baldwin continuously pointed out that teachers can change the discrimination view on African-Americans by teaching them from a young age about racism and their history. James Baldwin’s perspicacity on race was so pinpoint-accurate that it’s still relevant even today.

The system of education representing a part of racial prejudice in America is affecting people of color. James Baldwin's subject pronouns such as 'We' indicate that the matter affects all Americans, despite their racial background. Baldwin emphasizes this point by describing how the educational system fails to include African American children as American history is explained; guiding them to feel lost, neglected and excluded from society, ¨Therefore it is almost impossible for any Negro child to know anything about his actual history¨. (Baldwin Pg3) Educators should teach kids that its important to acknowledge that people come from different ethnic backgrounds but don’t discriminate them based on it. From what I got in the reading, the system of education chose what to teach children about the ideologies they see as fundamental truths. Racism continues to show up on just about every level in our society.

It could be feasibly arguable that Baldwin's words are even more relevant today. For example, racial/ethnic groups within the United States often find themselves relying on state-provided benefits because they live in lower socioeconomic support; they also disproportionally tend to not have equal access to social resources, such as healthcare. Things are even worse now because the misinformed white people in the US willingly support a system that enslaves not just Blacks and Latinos, but themselves as well. Many issues he addressed in the essay have changed but life is still not equal for all. Test scores show that children in minority-dense, low-income areas tend to have different scores compared to others. This is all because schools in these areas simply have fewer funds than more wealthy areas. It’s an ongoing cycle that continues up to College (higher education).

In higher education, we often fail to ask hard questions about whether colleges are educating students well. This often ends up not succeeding and then the education system blames poor results on the student’s native language and earlier academic education. Even a person that is free of racist or ill-disposed intention inadvertently reinforces these perceptions. That leads to the never-ending fight for equality even though kids may “technically” have the same education. Education is an important aspect of people’s lives. Especially in today’s society where many jobs require a college degree that then makes it hard for those without access to higher education to get a job. But then education systems increase tuition fees causing college education to be out of reach for some students. The society also tells us that the more educated a student is, the easier it is to get almost any job you want. However, provided with the right education you become more qualified to find your calling in life.

In conclusion, we should teach others that it’s okay to look at the world for what it is — racist, sexist, homophobic,— and should use this awareness as a way to enact change. Educators should help children learn how to think rather than telling them what to think. In regards to high education, college instructors and administrators should increase overall learning environments on their campuses, where historical and current-day matters of race and racism can be addressed and questioned civilly and provocatively. I admit that higher education alone can’t proclaim all of the troubles of racism and hatred that come from our country’s racial history. I hope we can install an education system that is people-centered and not centered around the interests of white men.

Why was Reconstruction a Failure?

The American Civil War saved the Union and liberated the slaves. Nonetheless, amid Reconstruction, an absence of political spotlight on the exertion neglected to understand the sectional injuries, and the disposal of the liberated slaves recently increased common freedoms neglected to realize long haul racial incorporation.

Subsequently, the Union was expected to successfully reintegrate the South again into the nation on an equal standing, replenish its economy, and refurbish its war-torn land. In any case, divisions in the government over Reconstruction made a disappointment accomplish these objectives. Lincoln had already proposed a 10% arrangement, which offered a permissive route for the Southern States to rejoin the United States. In any case, when Lincoln was killed, Andrew Johnson, a previous proprietor of slaves, progressed toward becoming president and started his very own arrangement for Reconstruction. Notwithstanding the way that his course of action at originally worked, past Confederates unavoidably worked their way into the assembly and were decided to the United States Congress The Republican-ruled Congress declined to situate these Southerners. Additionally, even the Republican Party itself was parceled. Conservatives and traditionalists needed the South to be promptly conceded into the Union and Congress. These Republicans likewise needed a greater number of changes than those Johnson was giving. Meanwhile, radical Republicans required phenomenal change, needing to 'patch up the South in the image of the North. These pressures inside the Republican Party and the apparently Southern inclining president prompted little advancement and even a denunciation preliminary of Andrew Johnson. The Northern question diverted Union from genuine advancement and did not bring the South again into the Union. Likewise, another reason for the absence of political concentration amid Reconstruction was the extraordinary financial thriving in the North after the Civil War. For instance, the main cross-country railroad was finished, mechanical creations flourished, and modern yield soar. This Northern blast, in the mix with a resulting misery, 'had the impact of illustration consideration far from Reconstruction.'

The disappointment of the North to adequately modify the South and bring it once again into the Union amid Reconstruction is apparent after the day and age. Above all else, the inadequate arrangement of Reconstruction was seen in 1880 when the contrasts between the South and the North resembled that between Russia (one of the poorest nations in Europe) and Germany (one of the wealthiest). Additionally, 'long into the twentieth century, the South remained a one-party region under the control of a reactionary choice world class' that harbored hatred against the North. Frankly, until the 1940s, Tennessee was the primary state of the past Confederacy to watch Lincoln's birthday as a legal event

Another issue of Reconstruction, the blend of freed slaves into society, similarly shows the unsuccessful thought of Reconstruction. There were a couple of promising events in the midst of Reconstruction when the advance was made for freed African Americans. The first was the thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth Amendments ensuring African Americans certain common freedoms. Likewise, 14 African Americans were chosen to Congress and various others served in state and neighborhood governments. Be that as it may, the ascent of the Ku Klux Klan and other racial oppression gatherings, in a mix with the Black Codes, started to threaten liberated slaves and push back their common freedoms. Additionally, in the Slaughterhouse Cases, U.S. v. Cruikshank, and the U.S. v. Reese, the Supreme Court helped seriously limit the privileges of African Americans. Likewise, the sharecropping framework, particularly the yield lien framework, set numerous African Americans into places of obligation, reminiscent of the reliance of subjection. Accordingly, there were any desires for the opportunity, yet 'the Yankees… let us [African Americans] be returned in subjection once more.' Partly because of the disappointment of Reconstruction to give racial correspondence, African Americans would be free however abused, peons well into the twentieth century.

Reproduction after the Civil War was a disappointment. The North was inconsistent and occupied over how the exertion ought to be tended to and hence did not adequately revamp the South and bring it once again into the Union. Likewise, even though for a period it showed up as though the liberated slaves would wind up equivalent with whites, prejudice was permitted to plague into society. Consequently, as found in the incapable endeavors to bring the South once again into the Union as a solid equivalent toward the North, Reconstruction likewise neglected to effectively coordinate liberated slaves into society.

Macbeth’s Character Change

From one demonstration to the next, the peruser can perceive how the fundamental character changes. All through the dramatization, Macbeth's aspirations wind up doing him more damage and bringing evil. How does Macbeth's character change all through the play? paper. The creator presents Macbeth as a courageous aristocrat. At (Act 1 Scene 1) Macbeth is introduced as a man that is revered and appreciated by many individuals, including the King. As per the creator, he is likewise a resilient man. In addition, he is faithful to the privileged position and King Duncan.

The exhibition of these characters is found in the manner he battles for his nation boldly. The King is intrigued with his valiantly and devotion and prizes him with a thaneship of Cawdor. Macbeth has a few companions. Shakespeare presents Banquo as Macbeth's closest companion. As per the creator, the two even battled together. In (Act 1 Scene 3), Banquo goes to the degree of exhorting his companion not to trust what the witches forecasted. He thinks that the witches might wind up double-crossing him toward the end.

This shows that Banquo was a genuine companion and was prepared to effectively save his companion. Macbeth isn't only famous among his companions. He is likewise shown as a loving spouse. In the play, Lady Macbeth is introduced as his "dearest love." Macbeth exhibits his affection for his significant other by keeping in touch with her letters in any event, when in a fight. In Act 1, Macbeth is introduced as a prosperous, respected fighter. He was additionally an old buddy. Sadly, the entirety of this progressions as the story advances.

Toward the start of the dramatization, the peruser can see Macbeth's shortcoming when he sees the witches interestingly. The creator says that he was apprehensive and got devoured in his own musings. He turned out to be exceptionally eccentric and ethically fragile. At the point when the witches shared their expectation, he didn't trust them from the outset. Notwithstanding, he became fixated on turning into the King after discovering that he had been compensated with the thaneship of Cawdor. He becomes confounded and is uncertain whether he should kill the King to succeed him.

Abhorrent starts to become the overwhelming focus. Unfortunately, Lady Macbeth's basic passionate coercion persuades him to do the most noticeably terrible. In Act 1 Scene 6, Macbeth's shortcoming and his failure to conceal his feelings additionally become possibly the most important factor. Despite the fact that he should meet Duncan at the door, just Lady Macbeth gets on schedule. The postponement is ascribed to the way that Macbeth is uncertain of if he should kill the King. Shockingly, Lady Macbeth can act honestly as she definitely realizes what is upsetting his significant other.

Macbeth's push to carry out the wrongdoing can be ascribed to the move by his significant other and surprisingly his own character. After the wrongdoing is done, the fault is set upon the husbands to be. Macbeth's shortcoming is again shown when he becomes repentant for his activities. Unmistakably he realized whatever he did was unethical. His Christianity foundation deteriorates the circumstance as he can't say "So be it" after the "deed was done." He concedes that he was unable to rest and wanted that the King would awaken after a basic thumping.

Tragically, passing couldn't be scattered. The essayist is likewise ready to show that Macbeth is additionally humble. Macbeth terms "a sorry sight," his blood-stained hands. He felt extremely unreliable and expected that somebody had heard him. He is unnerved to the point that he can't return the knife in the wake of leaving the crime location with it. Not really settled to do all that could be within reach to disguise any proof that might show that they are liable for the homicide of the King. The group of King Duncan is found the next day.

Because of his blameworthy sentiments, Macbeth continues and kills the men of the hour. Nonetheless, in spite of the fact that he had trusted that the killing would help sequestered from everything his obligation, it doesn't. The discourse that he gives guarding himself makes doubt. Macbeth does all that could be within reach to conceal his wrongdoing. Act 2 shows how Macbeth's character starts to change slowly. The principal survivors of this endeavor were Malcolm and Donalbain. In spite of the fact that he was sorry for killing the King, Lady Macbeth is at fault for the demonstration.

Macbeth faults the two grooms for the homicide of Duncan, yet they were not in the ability to realize what happened the earlier evening. The killing of the two guiltless grooms who had escaped from Scotland makes it clear to the peruser that Macbeth might take part in more killings to anybody he dreaded represented a danger to his privileged position. Despite the fact that he prevailed with regards to turning into the head, Macbeth can't partake in the advantages related with the new status. The King confided in him, however he deceived him toward the end. In this way, he discovered that he was unable to trust anyone.

He turned into a disengaged man, as he was anxious about the possibility that that his companions, family, and surprisingly his significant other could double-cross him. Therefore, he began staying away from them by misdirecting them. His as it were "companions" right now were the witches. The killing of Duncan likewise saw Macbeth lose his commendable characters. First and foremost, he was a courageous and noteworthy officer. Notwithstanding, his character changed, and he turned into a dictator and a defeatist. His character changed totally and went to two "loser" killers who he depended on to quiet his apparent adversary.

Outrage and envy became inseparable from Macbeth. Macbeth couldn't confide in his dear companion, Banquo. He was envious of him since he had a child, and he didn't have one. He indoctrinated the two killers into accepting that his closest companion was answerable for their neediness. He persuaded himself that whatever he was doing was correct. His deficiency of trust is additionally shown when he sends one more killer to keep an eye on the two executioners he had sent. The government operative prevails with regards to killing the two homicides. Toward the start of the play, Macbeth is introduced as an honorable individual.

Be that as it may, the disintegration of this character is found in Act 3. He turned out to be more shaky and suspected anybody around him. He was carrying on with a forlorn life subsequent to cutting himself off from anybody he connected with beforehand. Killing honest individuals for reasons unknown became normal as he occupied with a "killing binge." After killing Duncan, he turned out to be more imprudent and connected even in unreasonable authoritarian demonstrations. Toward the start of Act 3, Macbeth is displayed to have some responsibility and morals however not however solid as he might have been toward the beginning of the play.

In Scene 4, he continues and readies a banquet while he knows that his companion Banquo is no more. In any case, Banquo's phantoms threaten him. It is now that he loses his feeling of honesty. Malicious dominates. He never has a liable outlook on anything that he does. Notwithstanding carrying out more violations, he doesn't consider his activity any longer. He even feels free to design the homicide of more honest individuals, including Macduff and his whole family. After some time, it turns out to be obvious to Macbeth that he can't conceal the way that he was answerable for the homicide of the King.

Subsequent to taking part in these exercises, unmistakably Lady Macbeth had covered her sentiments. She says all that her better half had done while in her rest as the specialist and the medical attendant tunes in. It turns out to be obvious to the specialist that Macbeths were liable for the homicide of the King. Strangely, Macbeth and his better half, Lady Macbeth, were not astounded by any means. Toward the start of the play, Macbeth is supposed to be a warm spouse. He adored Lady Macbeth without question and confided in her. Notwithstanding, after the homicide of Duncan, things started to turn south for the Macbeths.

Woman Macbeth becomes discouraged, and the specialist concedes that he can't treat her. The second thoughts and misery that she encounters become terrible. In Act 5, Lady Macbeth ends it all. The regret and responsibility that she had were terrible. To exacerbate the situation, Macbeth isn't disheartened by the demise of his better half. Thusly, plainly now, Macbeth has turned into an alternate individual. He is presently not loving, whatever existed among him, and his better half is no more. Macbeths are not similar individuals at this stage.

The spouse has lost the regular human sentiments he had toward the beginning of the play. He sees no underhanded and feels no abhorrent. Regardless of turning into the head and becoming fit for doing anything he wished, Macbeth's life doesn't turn out to be simple. At one time, he becomes burnt out on life. At the point when he recollects the sort of underhanded demonstrations he has occupied with, he feels discouraged. It turns out to be surprisingly more terrible for him in the wake of understanding that he has lost the honor, love, and kinship he appreciated prior to killing Duncan. It consumes most of the day for Macbeth to realize that the witches were not on his side.

In any case, regardless of taking part in such a lot of insidiousness, he didn't give up and battled to the latest possible second. Similarly as he is presented as a bold fighter toward the start of the play, he faces a great many troopers in a good battle. As of now, he knew there was nothing that he could do. He had no companions to go to, and it was at that point past the point where it is possible to change. He committed an error of accepting the witches, and his life is done at this point. Macbeth is a play that features the evil in the public arena by showing how desire, fascism, and selling out, among others, annihilated the Macbeths.

Macbeth's character changes all through the story. The story shows how allurements can change an awesome individual into one of the most noticeably terrible people locally. In the wake of being occupied with the intolerable demonstration of killing King Duncan, he started to do much more terrible things that transformed him totally. While Macbeths carried on with an ideal life loaded with adoration and friendship, they lost all that after the homicide of the King. The adjustment of Macbeth's character can likewise be accused on his malevolent inner voice.

Essay ‘What i did over Christmas Break?’

Christmas break is one of my favorite times of the year. During this time, I get to spend time with my family decorating the Christmas tree, opening presents, eat delicious food, and playing games. This is the only time of the year where I get to see some of my family that lives far away. It starts with us gathering at one house on Christmas eve. We spend our time cooking, baking cookies, and other treats, making traditional island drinks, play games, caroling, and having lots of other family fun. On Christmas morning, we gather around the tree to open presents.

This year my break was very busy not only with family time but also with school activities. It started with us gathering on Christmas eve at my aunts’ home for dinner, games, caroling, and other shenanigans. After dinner, we went right into playing games. We played the candy jar guessing game, then the balloon game where everyone ties a balloon to their ankle and hop around the room so no one can stomp and pop your balloon. Next, we play the unwrapping of a very large gift box using kitchen mittens. My family is very competitive, and we had lots of fun playing these games. Following the games, it was time for everyone’s favorite part of the night, caroling. Every year my uncle plays the keyboard and we sing our favorite Christmas songs in both American and Caribbean style all while dancing and acting crazy. It gladdened my heart to see everyone in the same room getting along and having a good time. Eventually, it ends with all the kids moving onto their usual spot, the game room while the adults continue to listening to music and dance. The party ends two in the morning and that is the time we head home. After a few hours of sleep, I woke up and ran downstairs to open my presents. Once we were all done opening presents, we made breakfast and relax before preparing dinner.

The next two days after Christmas was spent at a basketball tournament. Sigh! This was my least favorite part of my time off from school. I was hoping to continue our tradition of going to the mall for some after Christmas sales. A few days later it is time for me to help my mom take the decorations and lights from the tree and prepare the house for the new year. The needles from the tree made a huge mess in the house, but by the end of the day the house was back to normal and we are ready for the new year. It was great to accomplish everything we had to do on that day. Finally, we celebrated New Year’s Eve by dancing and toasting with sparkling cider. Later in the day, we meet at for a traditional good luck dinner of black-eyed peas, collard greens, cornbread, mac and cheese, fresh home-made cranberry sauce, and salmon. Some of these foods are not my favorite, so I was the first to discard mine in the trash.

This break was peacefully and fun. I love that my family can gather have a great time with no irruption. It was nice to have a break and take my mind off of school for a little while. I could relax and not have to worry about waking up early. I had time to light my new candle and watch it emit warm colors of light into my room. Christmas not only brought me closer to my family, but it taught me to cherish the moments I spend with them. I am glad that my family has these yearly traditions; it helps us to reconnect and bond.

Essay ‘My Plans for Christmas’

Christmas traditions hold the value of family. What would Christmas be without practicing these traditions? Traditions keep families together, passed down, generation to generation. Sometimes they even teach you of your roots. As a kid, these traditions are what make your holidays special, granted when you are six years old all that's on your mind is presents. The more you mature you become, the more you learn and understand the true values of Christmas. That it isn’t about the gifts, it’s about family and giving back to the people you care for. Growing up, it was only my mom and I, so my mom was the one to always keep these traditions alive. There are plenty of holiday traditions but my favorites happened during Christmas time. We’d bake cookies, watch the Santa Radar and I’d get one present before bed.

Starting with the Santa Radar, which allows us to see where in the world Santa is. My mom and I would be sitting in the living room and one of us would always say, “LET’S SEE WHERE SANTA IS!”. Then, she would set the Santa Radar up on her computer, and every once and awhile, we would run over to see how close he was. Once Santa would get to England, we would start on making his cookies.

We would make sugar cookies, not chocolate chip, not oatmeal raisin, ALWAYS sugar cookies. And we’d cut them to be shaped like all things Christmas. Snowmen, Christmas trees, Gingerbread men, etc. Watching the cookies brown and bake, and smelling the warm sugar, wafting from the oven, was only half the fun. Decorating would always be turned into a competition of whose was better and we’d give the winners cookies to Santa. After filling our bellies with a ridiculous amount of messed up cookies, we’d set out a plate of the nicest ones, hoping Santa would enjoy them, as much as we enjoyed making them. Now, as a kid cleaning the mess was horrid, no child wants to clean a big mess; Especially one they’re responsible for!

After we set out the cookies and milk, I would get ready for bed and for the best part of the night, getting to open one present! My mom would always pick my present for me, and of course, I’d be clueless to what it is. Typically, it would be a movie. And despite wanting to watch it right then and there, I’d have to wait until the next morning while opening my other presents. Once I opened my present my mom and I would go back to the Santa Radar and right as he got to New York it was time for bed. When I was little, I would always try to pretend to sleep and try to see the one and only, Santa Claus. I never actually got to see him, so I would just peek into my stocking, before finally falling asleep.

Christmas is an amazing family filled holiday, that I have loved since I was little. Out of the three traditions my favorite was opening one present before bed, never truly knowing what special something my mom picked out for me each year. As I grow up, I realize more and more how much these traditions mean, big or small. And that it’s important to always remember to keep traditions alive through the years and keep your family close during the holidays.

What I’m Passionate About?

What is my passion? I feel as though I have many things I am passionate about in my life. I’m sure I will learn new things I am passionate about as I become more educated and grow older and wiser. To name a few, I am passionate about fitness, about always learning, and being true to myself.

Fitness is my biggest passion. I enjoy fitness because it makes me feel good. Not just physically, but also mentally. I always look forward to getting up early in the morning or after work to go to the gym for a great work out. It is where I have my me time. The gym that I go to is 24-hour fitness, which has a variety of aerobic fitness classes that like. My favorite form of aerobics class is Zumba. I enjoy it because it’s the most fun and effective cardio workout that does not feel like a workout. It’s more like a dance party. My passion for Zumba leads me to eventually become certified to teach Zumba fitness. I really enjoyed doing this and learned a lot from it. After teaching Zumba for a while, I became interested in teaching a variety of fitness classes. So, I decided to become a certified group fitness instructor. With this certification, I was now able to become a SilverSneakers instructor and teach a variety of formats to older adults and those with limited mobility. Teaching SilverSneakers was a life-changing and rewarding experience for me. My members became like family to me. We got to learn and share on this fitness and laughter together.

Education isn’t something you can finish. As the world changes the need to adapt both professionally and personally is as real as the changes themselves. I for one enjoy learning. When I find something that interests me or if what to learn more about something or even brush up on my skills. I would do my research and find workshops or free online certificate programs to learn something new. I like you use Alison a lot when I want to learn something new. I chose it because Alison is one of the largest free learning platforms for education and skills training. Thanks to Alison I have learned a couple of new languages, learned more about fitness and nutrition, I also learned more about business and marketing. If you keep learning, you can achieve anything.

I’m on a mission to be the best person that I can be. I feel that the only way I can do this is by being true to myself. In order to be true to myself, I need to stop compromising and become more assertive with my relationships. Start protecting my time and space. Start protecting my identity. I cannot use others as a crutch and I cannot allow other people to use me as a crutch. I am not responsible for other people’s happiness. I am only responsible for myself. By understanding the dangers of compromising, I feel I would live a more confident and focused life.

Essay ‘Introducing my Family’

My family provided me with a loving and supportive environment. I have been very blessed to have so many positive influences in my life.

My parents & my grandmother have always told me that failure is not an option and to always dream big. My family culture has taught me to be kind, passionate, and respectful of others. I come from a family of educators who are very passionate about their field of work. My grandmother has been a school teacher for over 25 years. She returned to college and attained her Master’s degree, in spite of facing many obstacles. She has always stressed to me that getting a great education is key and important. She is an awesome role model and has been a huge positive influence in my life when it comes to my education. I always go above and beyond to make sure that I do my best in school.

My parents have taught me to always be of good moral character and to value myself and others. They both strongly believe in paying it forward & giving back to those who are less fortunate. My mother was a was a youth recreational volunteer cheer coach for 5 years. She worked with high risk kids after school providing a positive environment for them. She made me realize over the years that some of the smallest things we take for granted could make a huge difference in another person’s life. My mom showed me what it is to be a compassionate leader. Both of my parents have taught me that hard work does pay off. It is because of them that I have a very strong work ethic. I was raised by a mother that wanted all of her children to be involved in something positive, which would result in making lifetime memories, new relations and discovering doors of opportunities.

My parents always made sure we stayed involved in multiple community activities, helping others in any way that we could. We had a yearly Christmas family tradition and we would volunteer to sing at various nursing homes during the holiday season. Some of the elderly would sing along with us. The smiles on the residents’ faces were priceless. It meant so much to me and my family to know that the sound of our voices was bringing them so much joy.

As I move into this next phase of college life, I am so grateful that I have family who believes in me and has taught me to believe in myself at all times. My family has had a huge impact on my life and have motivated me to continually strive for success.

Why shouldn’t Friar Laurence be Punished?

When looking at someone’s character, people can see the same trait in two completely different lights. While some view a trait as a strength, others see it as a weakness. In William Shakespeare's The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, traits like this run rampant. Despite coming from feuding families, Romeo and Juliet fall in love. They go to Friar Lawrence for help, hoping that he will help them get married. He agrees, fully committing his time and energy into this relationship. Shortly after the marriage, however, it becomes clear that this new relationship needs to be kept a secret. Seeing this, the Friar comes up with a dangerous and elaborate plan to achieve this immense task. His unbridled commitment to a cause is his most admirable trait, but it can also be the cause of his downfall.

Friar Lawrence is a man who dedicates himself to a cause he believes to be right, no matter what consequences they might bring. He weds Romeo and Juliet, saying, “In one respect I’ll thy assistant be; for this alliance may so happy prove to turn your households’ rancor into pure love” (2.3. 90-92). He believes that their marriage will join their houses together and stop the fighting. However, when Juliet’s father promises her to Count Paris afterwards, he has to come up with an elaborate plan to make sure they can stay together. He goes out of his way to ensure Juliet’s marriage to Paris does not occur. Unfortunately, the reason for his devotion is no longer just for the good of Verona. Just before Lord Capulet announces Juliet’s engagement to Paris, the Prince banishes Romeo for killing the surly Tybalt. Romeo is a criminal. If someone were to find out that Friar Lawrence allowed the two to get married, he could be severely punished, and Juliet’s family would disown her. Not only is it dishonorable to have a convict as a spouse, but Romeo and Juliet also got married without either of their parent’s blessings. While Friar Lawrence truly believes that their union could help all of Verona, he can no longer announce it. Now, due to Juliet’s new engagement and Romeo’s title of murderer, their marriage can bring more harm than good. The Friar is still dedicated to their relationship, but now he needs to prevent anyone from finding out about it.

While one could argue that Friar Lawrence’s devotion is merely an effect of his self preservation, his response to Romeo’s threat of suicide clearly disproves this. Romeo is arguably the most important person to the Friar. He acts as a father figure to the boy, allowing a lovesick Romeo to go on a tirade about his unreciprocated feelings just the day before. Now, when Romeo threatens to kill himself after his banishment, he is highly distressed. Desperate to talk him out of it, Friar Lawrence asks him, “Wilt thou slay thyself? And slay thy lady too…?”(3.3. 116-117). He attempts to make Romeo realize how killing himself would affect those who love him. News of his death would devastate Juliet, likely causing her to commit suicide herself. This, combined with a promise to get the two lovers back together again, is what convinces Romeo to set his knife down. Even if the Friar’s promise saves Romeo for the time being, it has only dug him into a deeper hole. Now not only does he have to keep their marriage a secret, but he also has to find a way to keep them together. He brings this work onto himself solely to keep Romeo safe. This shows how dedicated he is to Romeo, and how committed he is to keeping him safe.

Friar Lawrence is tenacious in his attempts to achieve a goal. He devotes himself to make his ideals a reality, simply to make his city a better place. He does everything in his power to protect the people he loves and make them happy. Friar Lawrence, at his core, is a man who will go to the extreme to make sure the people and city that he loves are safe. Unfortunately, sometimes his solutions cause more problems.

Who’s to Blame? Friar Lawrence or Parents?

“I will stay with you, [and] make it to the other side like lovers do” (Don’t Give Up on Me by Andy Grammar). When Romeo and Juliet first saw each other, they knew that their love was more powerful than anything else in the world. Therefore, when it came to life or death, life wasn't an option. They knew that in the end, life had no purpose if they couldn't spend it with the love of their life. The two love birds were inseparable, but there is not a clue on who to blame for their suicide. In the play, Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, it becomes difficult to tell who to blame for Romeo and Juliet's suicide because they were two young lovers who had many people to blame for their suicide, including Friar Lawrence, Romeo and Juliet’s parents, and themselves’.  One person to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet could be Friar Lawrence because he gave Juliet the sleeping potion to trick everyone that she was dead. Juliet stands forced to marry Paris, -courtesy of her father- but she didn't want to because she was already married to Romeo, and nobody but the Friar knew. Then, Friar Lawrence had -what he thought- a brilliant plan, and gave Juliet a vile, telling her:

FRIAR LAWRENCE. Take thou this vial, being then in bed,

And this distilled liquor drink thou off;

When presently through all thy veins shall run

A cold and drowsy humour, for no pulse.

Shall keep his native progress, but surcease:

No warmth, no breath, shall testify thou livest;

Each part, deprived of supple government,

Shall, stiff and stark and cold, appear like death. (4.1.96-107)

Friar Lawrence had given Juliet a sleeping potion to drink when she is in bed with nobody around, and it will appear that she is dead. Although this may have been a good plan at first, it would have been better if Friar Lawrence could control the chain of events that occurred after. When Romeo found out his love was dead, he went to visit Apothecary -a pharmacist who makes drugs from herbs- to buy a bottle of poison to drink next to Juliet's tomb and die, so Apothecary instructed Romeo, 'Put this in any liquid thing you will - And drink it off; and, if you had the strength - Of twenty men, it would dispatch you straight' (5.1.80-83). Romeo did what Apothecary told him to do and went to Verona. All Romeo wanted to do was die next to his wife, Juliet, in peace. Therefore, Friar Lawrence is someone to blame because if he hadn't given Juliet the sleeping potion, Romeo wouldn't have had to buy poison for himself to drink next to the sleeping Juliet that killed himself. Then, Juliet wouldn't have stabbed herself with a dagger to be in spirit with her love, Romeo.

Another person to blame could be the parents of both Romeo and Juliet because it was the parents of both families who kept the ancient family feud going. Romeo and Juliet loved each other but couldn't tell their parents about their secret love for one another. When they first met and kissed, the Nurse had informed Juliet that her mother- Lady Capulet- would like to speak to her, and when Romeo realized that Juliet was the daughter of his worst enemy, he said to himself, 'Is she a Capulet? - O dear account! My life is my foe’s debt' (1.5.117-118). Romeo was horrified and devastated that he was deeply in love with a Capulet of his worst enemy. He didn't know what to do because he knew that his parents and her parents would never let them date. He knew that he couldn't tell anyone that he was in love with a Capulet and needed to keep it a secret! A few days later, Romeo drinks poison, and Juliet stabs herself with a dagger to be with each other in death. When the Prince arrives to address the scene, he scolds both Montague and Capulet, explaining, 'Where be these enemies? Capulet! Montague! - See, what a scourge is laid upon your hate, - That heaven finds means to kill your joys with love' (5.3.307-309). The Prince informs the Montague and Capulet that their feud has caused the deaths of the ones they love. He believes that it would be better for everyone that they end their silly feud and makeup because now, both families have lost their only child. In the end, the parents have a significant contribution to the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because none of the past events would have occurred if they ended their ancient feud.  The third person to blame could be Romeo and Juliet themselves because, in the end, they were the ones who decided to kill themselves for the love of each other. Romeo and Juliet loved each other to a point where they couldn't live without each other. Even when Juliet figured out that Romeo had drunk poison and died, she became jealous and said:

JULIET. O, churl! Drunk all, and left no friendly drop

To help me after? I will kiss thy lips;

Haply some poison yet doth hang on them,

To make die with a restorative. (5.1.175-179)

Juliet had wished that Romeo left some poison for her to drink and die because she wanted to be with Romeo in death. She was jealous that Romeo didn't have any poison left to help her die a painless death. Juliet was determined to die after realizing that her true love, Romeo, was dead. Later that day - in the final scene of the play, after both Romeo and Juliet killed themselves - the Prince read Romeo's letter that Romeo wrote to his parents, and explained:

PRINCE. Their course of love, the tidings of her death:

And here he writes that he did buy a poison

Of a poor 'pothecary, and therewithal

Came to this vault to die, and lie with Juliet. (5.3.303-306)

Romeo's letter explains that he bought poison to die next to Juliet because he loves her with all his heart. Romeo explains that Juliet is his wife and was heartbroken when he heard about her death, so he bought poison from a poor Apothecary. In the end, Romeo and Juliet both had their reasons for killing themselves and believed that if they couldn't be together in life, they would be together in death.  In the play, Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, there are many people to be blamed for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, including Friar Lawrence, Romeo and Juliet's parents, and themselves' because they were two young lovers with many secrets. Romeo and Juliet loved each other with all their heart, and each became devastated when they found out that something unfortunate had happened to their lover. Friar Lawrence, Romeo and Juliet's parents, and Romeo and Juliet themselves' all contributed to the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Friar Lawrence helped keep Romeo and Juliet's marriage a secret, which in the end lead to his decision to give Juliet a sleeping potion that made her look like she was dead. Romeo and Juliet's parents continued the ancient grudge between the two families, which led to Romeo and Juliet's decision to keep their love and marriage a secret. Then, the wedding between Paris and Juliet wouldn't have had to happen if Romeo and Juliet could have been honest with their parents about their love for each other. Ultimately, Romeo and Juliet made their own decisions within their short-lasting life and love, and both decided that if they couldn't be with each other in life, they would be together in death.

“On Turning Ten” and “The Monkey Garden” (summary)

In life, many encounter obstacles that force them to face the actualities and hardships in life which causes them to grow as a person. In the story “The Monkey Garden” and the poem “On Turning Ten”, the author and poet discuss the idea of facing bare reality which causes them to change their attitude towards childhood. Both readings teach how the main characters were fearful of becoming older and more mature. Although both characters yearn to stay young and hold creative mindsets, both Esperanza and the young boy face different and difficult situations that impact them individually both mentally and physically.

The fear of growing up and the loss of innocence is portrayed throughout both characters by showing their yearn and desire to stay young. In the poem “On Turning Ten,” the young boy says: “This is the beginning of sadness, I say to myself, as I walk through the universe in my sneakers. It is time to say goodbye to my imaginary friends, time to turn the first big number” (Collins 1). The young boy portrays how he wishes to stay young by emphasizing the farewell to his friends and stressing the beginning of sadness. Also, the young boy hints his yearning to stay young because of how he is wearing sneakers whilst walking throughout the universe. Therefore, the young boy does not wear formal shoes to signify maturity but rather wears casual footwear to indicate innocence. In “The Monkey Garden,” Esperanza always used her monkey garden as a safe haven until she finally states her concerns and thinks: “I wanted to go back with the other kids who were still jumping on cars, still chasing each other through the garden, but Sally had her own game.” (Cisneros 2). Esperanza highlights how she wants to play with the kids in her garden who were clearly having fun, but she feels pressured to fit into Sally’s expectations. After seeing this, Esperanza feels that her garden is no longer her safe place because she feels Sally and the boys invaded it. Overall, both characters yearn to stay young and live according to their own norms yet both the young boy and Esperanza feel pressured to fit into societies’ norms.

Esperanza and the young boy both show examples of creative and vivid imaginations throughout the story which portray the simplicity of childhood innocence. In “On Turning Ten”, the young boy expands on his imagination by stating: “At four I was an Arabian wizard. I could make myself invisible by drinking a glass of milk a certain way. At seven I was a soldier, at nine a prince” (Collins 1). In the story, the young boy leaves vivid details of how creative his imagination was which shows the dreams a child could hold and how they only follow their own standards. Also, the young boy exemplifies how simplistic the mindsets and goals of children are by showing what their desires are. Eventually, these imaginations tie into the idea of innocence by showing how they fit into only their norms, not others.

Also, in “The Monkey Garden” Esperanza depicts how her imagination was incorporated into her safe haven by commenting: “We liked to think the garden could hide things for a thousand years. There beneath the roots of soggy flowers were the bones of murdered pirates and dinosaurs, the eye of a unicorn turned to coal” (Cisneros 1). In the quote, the author uses figurative language to emphasize how Esperanza’s imagination was laid out. For example, Cisneros uses a hyperbole to describe the way the garden could hold and hide things for a long-term period. In fact, Esperanza’s imagination is shown because of the infinite amount of possibilities she displays about the garden. Overall, Esperanza and the young boy represent how the imagination of a child could show the level of innocence the child has. Lastly, the imagination could signify and reveal the true beauty and simplicity of childhood.

In contrast, the young boy was facing internal pressures to succumb to society’s norms rather where Esperanza was forced to deal with bare reality head-on. In “On Turning Ten”, the young boy somberly states how his life quickly altered by expressing: “But now, I am mostly at the window watching the late afternoon light. Back then, it never fell so solemnly against the side of my tree house, and my bicycle never leaned against the garage as it does today, all the dark blue speed drained out of it” (Collins 1). The young boy explains how he is facing internal troubles by depicting the environment around him. For example, the young boy contrasts how the bike never fell against the garage the way it did that day which shows how the times are changing due to him turning ten. Also, the young boy sits mostly at the window which exemplifies how he feels solemn internally and how he watches life slowly pass him by.

In “The Monkey Garden”, Esperanza expresses her feelings about seeing Sally kissing the boys by stating: “I don’t know why, but something inside me wanted to throw a stick. Something wanted to say no when I watched Sally going into the garden with Tito’s buddies grinning. It was just a kiss, that’s all. A kiss for each one. So what, she said” (Cisneros 2). Esperanza feels uncomfortable when she sees Sally kissing the boys which leads Esperanza to change her once “safe haven” into an “intruded haven”. Also, Esperanza confronted the situation directly which led to her being hopeless in her garden. All in all, Esperanza deals with serious and direct situations whereas the young boy deals with internal, somber thoughts which both lead to the bare actuality of growing up.

Overall, both characters are impacted by the harsh reality of life which creates the longing to stay young. However, both characters hold vast imaginations which greaten their innocence but the mindsets eventually die out because of the major events they encountered. In the end, it is important to realize how precious time is and how quickly it passes us by.

Can Online Schools be as Effective as Traditional Schools?

Everyone’s learning style is different. Some people learn better in traditional schooling, but there are certain circumstances or lifestyle choices that could lead someone to pursue online schooling. Lifestyles, health, learning ability and availability can all be deciding factors in what type of schooling is right for the student.

Traditional schooling and online schooling are different in so many ways, but they also have quite a few things in common. One of the most controversial things about online schooling is the lack of face-to-face interactions. Both traditional school and online school are taught by teachers, but in traditional schooling, you see your teachers and classmates everyday in person. In online schooling you may only see your classmates and teachers through your computer screen. Face-to-face communication is very important, especially since technology is such a huge part of our lives. Face-to face communication is often a major part of jobs today, so if you don’t interact with your peers face-to-face on a daily basis, it may affect you in the future.

Something that online schooling is well-known for is the ability to personalize the courses that you take. While online schooling and traditional schooling both have the option to participate in AP (Advanced Placement) classes, traditional schooling usually has set courses for specific grade levels. Traditional schools have to cater to a wide range of abilities, but online schools are specific to the individual student, which can make it a better learning experience if you are further behind or ahead in your academics than your fellow classmates. One of the reasons that many families decide to pursue online schooling is because of the flexibility that comes with it. In traditional schooling, there is a set time schedule everyday as to when school starts and ends, and how long each class is. With online schooling, if you have a doctor’s appointment in the morning, but are free all afternoon, you can rearrange your schedule without missing any schoolwork. In traditional school, you would have to miss a class or two and make it up later. Whether you choose online schooling or traditional schooling, both require you to manage your time wisely and complete your work.

Online schooling is becoming more popular, and while it remains controversial, many studies back it up. In an article from Business Insider, two families explain how homeschooling was a successful option for them. One student who has been homeschooled since she was in kindergarten is now a sophomore at Harvard studying psychology. She explains that she wasn’t at home all day, and was usually out in the world learning new things. “After seven years of the standard menu of subjects - math, science, history, English - her mom let her study whatever she chose. She says she drifted toward psychology, which she ended up taking additional classes for at local community colleges and at Harvard Extension.” The Business Insider asked a family of five why they started homeschooling. “In the beginning, it was to help her oldest son, Nat, who has a genetic disorder that makes traditional learning difficult.” She didn’t like how strict traditional schools are. She also said that she wanted a religious aspect in their education. Some families say that religion is one of the main reasons that they homeschool their children, while others have no religious aspect in any of their education. While the article shows how homeschooling can be a great thing, “there are some things that happen in traditional school that, for better or for worse, are hard to recreate outside its doors.” Some of those experiences are cliques and bullying, and while no one wants to put their child through that, it can teach kids to stand up for themselves and be confident. Research also shows that online-schooled children do better on standardized test than public and private school students. They also stay in college longer, and do better while enrolled. Some people believe that the reason that homeschoolers are doing better is the personalization of the courses and the different options that they have.

On the opposite side of the debate, some people are saying that traditional schooling is the best way to get an education. In an article from the Huffington Post, the pros and cons of public and private schooling are outlined. Private schooling, while each student gets a great education, is usually very expensive so it isn’t an option for most people. Public schooling on the other hand is free. Public schools are more convenient. There is usually transportation provided, so if you are a working parent, you don’t have to drive your child to school every day. In addition, students can participate in band, sports, clubs or other extra-curricular activities. Students also socialize much more than homeschooled students, and with many different personality types, which will help later in their lives. While all of this sounds great, public schools are only set to teach average students. If a student is behind or ahead of other kids, they will not do well. Some people learn better in traditional schooling, but there are certain circumstances or lifestyle choices that could lead someone to pursue online schooling.

If you are a focused student who wants a flexible schedule and personalized courses, online schooling may be for you. If you are a student who wants interactions on a daily basis and a set schedule throughout their day, then traditional schooling may be for you. Whichever option you choose, you must work hard and manage your time wisely.

Essay about Online and Traditional Education

“Give me Wi-Fi or give me death,” - today’s society. Technology is an incredible, valuable and widely used tool that many utilize all day, every day. However, there is a great debate over whether getting an education via this method is more beneficial than traditional, classroom learning. There are advantages and disadvantages to both learning methods that we will explore in the following points. My thought process is that the success of a given mode of education relies solely on the person utilizing it.

Firstly, let us consider the pros of the traditional method of education, the classroom setting. Students have more structure and guidance when they learn face to face, as they can receive answers and assistance immediately from the instructor. This also allows the subject matter to be retained more efficiently, as well as more quickly, due to active participation in class with the teacher and peers. This way of getting an education requires less personal drive due to the teacher outlining assignments and homework, along with frequent reminders when things are to be turned in. Classroom learning is based upon a schedule, allowing the student to always be able to make time for their education. However, traditional learning also has its downfalls, as does everything. Students can become dependent on the teacher or their peers for the answers, instead of doing research and expanding their knowledge by pushing themselves to put in the extra effort. Less drive to push oneself can be detrimental, seeing as self-motivated individuals are in highly sought after in most jobs and careers. Set schedules do not work for everyone; leaving students to have to choose between having a social life, working, or having an education, and what is most important of their options.

Secondly, online learning has several advantages that are worth exploring. One that hits home, is the ability to have anxiety (and on a personal note, trauma and anxiety induced seizures) without an audience, a worsening of symptoms, or an interference of education by having an episode. Another benefit is being able to learn at your own pace and in your own unique way, mostly without restriction. Despite having a larger student body to answer to, instructors are better able to answer their students’ questions and concerns without being rushed, as they have more time to reflect. Not having a set schedule allows the user to fit their classes in among their personal schedule, without necessarily having to exclude other activities and people from their lives. Nevertheless, cons are just as prevalent with online learning as with classrooms. As comfortable as it is to do your school work in the comfort of your home, in your sweatpants with a cup of coffee (or wine), this can lend to taking a more laid back, less focused and determined view on your course work, leading to a lower grade. This additionally plays into the next point, which is that if you are not self-motivated, or you take a more relaxed position, you will NOT do as well as needed, and you will fall behind or fail. Online classes are not inherently easier just because they are more convenient. While getting personalized answers from professors is a great plus, they can take hours and even days to get back to you, cutting valuable time out of your ability to study or finish assignments. Furthermore, having the ability to make your course schedule work for you is wonderful, although it once again is a factor which can contribute to viewing it as less important, which again, will lead you to disappointment in yourself.

To sum up, there are several differences between online and traditional learning methods. Online courses require students to be self-motivated, more focused and able to put in the extra effort to use your prior knowledge and research abilities, but they also allow for a more comfortable, personalized experience that is a great opportunity to get the most out of their education. Classroom learning is more structured, which can be a positive or negative for some; it also allows for students to directly discuss their questions and concerns, which leads to better retention in most cases. Every student in the world learns at their own pace, in their own way and in this case, there is no right or wrong answer to the question, “Is online or traditional learning more effective?” Whether it is online in your PJs or in a classroom for 8 hours a day, you will only get out of the educational setting you are presented with, what is put into it, and only you know which method works for you.

As indicated by the Merriam Webster Dictionary, beauty is the characteristics in an individual, or a thing that offer joy to the mind or spirit. What individuals need to acknowledge is that the physical appearance is not the main thing that defines whether the person is beautiful or not. The primary sort of beauty that the majority know about is outer beauty. That implies the look of an individual. This is dealing with a person’s hair, skin and body shape. Most men prone to take a gander at the outer beauty before the inner beauty. Nowadays the first thing that catches a man eye from a woman is her face and her bottom. The media view beauty as a physical appearance. They show celebrities with the nice shape, pretty face and long hair like Nicki Minaj. The media believe physical appearance is everything. Now if you not beautiful or do not have a nice body it can be effortlessly changed through huge amount of courses, for instance, dressing up, makeup, or even corrective medical procedure. A woman who don’t like her dark or dull skin. She gets introduce to items that makes her skin ends up lighter. Suddenly, individuals believe she’s lovely, and she acquires trust in herself. This let you know that you cannot be yourself unless you are a different skin complexion. The second beauty is inner beauty. Inner beauty might be portrayed as something that is experienced through an individual character instead of by appearance. Which means being a good person. A person with a wonderful soul sparkle more splendid than lovely face with vacancy inside. You can’t see inner beauty, but you can feel it. Listening to music that contacts your heart and addresses your spirit. Your personality is one thing that you simply have complete management over like a person who is kind and minding to other people. A person with inner beauty comprehends, helps when help is required and trusts in probability when others see difficulty. It is how you act towards others, your personality, what’s within. I had a friend growing up that everybody wanted to date or talk to. My friend was a beautiful girl, but she was mean, arrogant and stuck up. She believes that she can get what she wants base off her looks. My old friend lost a lot of friends because of her attitude. My old friend learn that inner beauty is more important than physical appearance.

The possibility of beauty isn’t only a physical appearance of a person or object. Real beauty originates from the heart. Like Sophia Loren’s famous quote, “Beauty is how you feel inside, and it reflects in your eyes. It is not something physical.” Inner beauty is about how we feel, and yet outer beauty is about what we look like. We know that a person looks can changed by putting on a makeup, dressing up or cosmetic surgery. Along these lines, inner and outer beauty can be found in terms of enduring, wellbeing, and cost. Beauty isn’t outwardly it’s within. Beauty depends on a person’s perspective. Inner beauty goes a long way because we know that it’s more important than outer beauty. Beauty isn’t tied in with hoping to look great yet to acknowledge the way god has made you. In most of all just be yourself. Beauty is confidence.
