“Beowulf” and Christianity (essay)
Canon in literature has many definitions. Some argue that it refers to sacred, or religious texts, such as the Bible, Qur’an, or Torah. It’s original meaning, canon meaning “law” in Latin, refers to a code of law. Canon’s definitions and understandings have grown tremendously since then. Some arguing that canon within literature refers to sacred and religious texts aren’t wrong; I also believe that—at least in the olden days, including the Anglo-Saxon period—canon in literature largely referred to religious texts, considering how devout everyone was back then, religious texts were sure to be the most important, and most popular. This is especially true when you look at the simple fact that most Anglo-Saxon literature was steeped in Christianity, such as Beowulf and Riddle #26. But, my understanding of Canon within literature—what it means to me— are texts considered to be the most important and influential of a certain time period or place. In the Anglo-Saxon period, perhaps the most important and influential of texts is Beowulf, an epic poem that, even today, never lost its popularity and importance, with the numerous amounts of modern-day art that it’s been adapted into.
Beowulf is the longest epic poem in Old English, and the oldest epic poem in any Germanic language. Its author is unknown and is thought to have been written somewhere between the 8th-11th century. Beowulf can be argued as one of the most popular epic poems as even after all these centuries it is still popular and has been adapted into movies, video games, graphic novels, comic books, and a commentary novel. The poem Beowulf, though written many centuries ago, still contains the same universal themes of a great action-adventure story in today's society and continues to appeal to modern audiences for many reasons. He's a brave, strong, and powerful warrior who fights against the forces of evil and matures into a wise and noble king. These qualities are still valued nowadays, even when Western society has advanced a great deal since this poem was first written.
Beowulf has both Pagan and Christian beliefs and practices throughout the poem, with many scholars believing that since Beowulf was likely written as early as 800 AD, it was also written shortly after England had converted to Christianity, making it seem that the author was heavily familiar with both Paganism and Christianity. On the other hand, some believe that it originated within the seventh century, but the sole living manuscript of this poem was written within the eleventh century by scribes, who inserted Christianity into the story.
A few examples of this theory for instance, is that at one point the narrator describes Hrothgar as pagan who doesn't know or believe in the “one true God”, as seen in lines 175-181: “At time they offered honor to idols at pagan temples, prayed aloud that the soul-slayer might offer assistance in the country’s distress. Such was their custom…they did not know the Maker…they did not know the Lord God.” yet all characters, including Hrothgar himself, seem to continuously thank God for their fortunes. Furthermore, the pagan concept of fate becomes confused with God's will, so that sometimes Beowulf (and the narrator) seems to believe he can affect fate itself through bravery, courage, and determination, while at other times, either Beowulf or the narrator credits his success to God. Nevertheless, the fact that there is both pagan and Christian concepts within this epic poem, either originally written or added much later, would likely make this poem that much more valuable and popular to society, both when it was first written, and throughout the centuries.
Though not as popular or epic as Beowulf, some of the riddles within the Exeter Book Riddles, particular Riddle 26, were likely popular, fun to read and guess the answer to, both back then, as well as today. Riddle 26’s answer itself is the Bible, so it heavily centers of religion, specifically the last few lines, lines 15-28 “…widely proclaim the Protector of men—the fool cannot fault it…they will be safer and more certain of victory, bolder in heart, happier in mind…needful to men; my name is glorious, a help to heroes, and holy in myself.” Riddle 26 first talks about how “it” was an animal killed, soaked, and skinned, in order to make the book itself. It goes on to talk about a quill, taking ink and darting again and again across its pages. The final lines talk about how it will be the protector men, and that should they read it, and make use of it, it will make sure they are wiser, bolder, safer, victorious, with more friends that will be loyal and devoted, and clasp them close in a loving embrace. The riddle ends with how it is glorious, holy, and a helpful took for heroes.
Canon to me means texts considered to be the most important and influential of a certain time period or place as well as religious texts that are not necessarily holy or sacred. Most Anglo-Saxon literature was steeped in both Christianity and sometimes paganism, such as Beowulf and Riddle #26. And Beowulf is one of the most popular epic poems to date and contains the same popular themes of a great action-adventure story in today's society and continues to appeal to modern-day audiences and will likely do so for many more centuries.

Selena Quintanilla (Research Paper)
The precious gift of life was taken too soon for such a talented and gifted woman as Selena Quintanilla. As an inspiration to all kinds of people, Selena touched the hearts of many and the announcement of her death created a wave of solemness to people all over the country. Selena was a fierce woman of whom many looked up to. She used her voice to help others by taking part in actions to stop the abuse of drugs of others and helped raise awareness and education on AIDS. Her vibrant stage presence and fierce attitude attributed to the nickname of the 'Latina Madonna'. Her music reached out and touched many people while her roots stayed in Hispanic music.
As her full name of Selena Quintanilla, she the youngest with two other siblings. Born in Lake Jackson Texas, about fifty miles south of Houston, on April 16, 1971, Selena was born into a Latino household where she was taught to be bilingual in English and Spanish. Her life and love of music derived from her father of whom was a musician and artist himself. The interesting music type that he played was called Tejano which combines some Mexican style sounds with other contrasting sounds such as rock and pop. With Abraham Quintanilla's experience in the music industry, Selena took the stage early in her life. She was the lead of her family band called Selena y Los Dinos.
With Selena y Los Dinos is where Selena Quintanilla first began getting noticed and becoming more well known to people. She decided that it was time to move on and try recording her own music which gained her more popularity. EMI record label signed Selena and her career took off. She was gifted with Grammy awards that she earned such as the achievement for Best Mexican American Album which she won at the 36th annual Grammy Awards. Her songs hit the top of charts as he album was loved by many as well.
Selena Quintanilla's life was short lived as she was killed suddenly in late March of the year 1995. She was shot by the president of her own fan club, Yolanda Salvador, of whom she knew. This came about in Corpus Christi Texas, about 170 miles from her hometown. Fans of Selena mourned the loss of her life as it was taken at such a young age as 23 years old. A movie was created in honor of Selena Quintanilla's beautiful life that was stripped away from her too soon.

Why Study Criminal Justice?
The criminal justice system is “the aggregate of all operating and administrative or technical support agencies that perform criminal justice functions. The basic divisions of the operational aspects of criminal justice are law enforcement, courts, and corrections.” (Schmalleger, 2016). This statement illustrates how the criminal justice system is broken into three primary components which are the police, the tribunal, and the correctional agencies.
These three components work together to reach the common goal of serving justice and maintaining crime control. This is done by apprehending, prosecuting, defending, sentencing, and punishing anyone who may have possibly committed a criminal offense. They all share the same goal, however, they all have their individual parts.
The police enforce the laws by investigating crimes which are done by taking the offenders in for questioning, this is done to reduce and prevent the breaking of crimes. They must also guarantee emergency and related community services which are done to preserve the public order and safeguard the communities’ safety. Last but not least they must also protect the central human rights and liberties of people.
Furthermore, the courts resolve disagreements in trials by determining if the defendant is faultless or guilty in a fair custom. This is done by upholding the law by means of giving a fair and unbiased trial with the due process of law while resolving criminal cases and determining their guilt or innocence.
Furthermore, there must be impartiality throughout the justice process especially when they are sentencing the guilty they must remember to protect the human rights and liberties of everyone facing processing through the justice system. Last, of all, they must make sure to check on the implementation of authority by the other justice system agencies. Then finally the corrections enforce the punishment. According to the Institute of Medicine (IOM), most medical errors are caused by broken systems and procedures, not people (Hughes, 2008). Institute of Medicine (IOM) defines quality as “degree to which health services for individuals and populations increase the likelihood of desired health outcomes and are consistent with current professional knowledge” (IOM, 2018). Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services(CMS) begins the shift from quantity-based care to a quality of care, this was set into place to force healthcare to assess quality for reimbursement purposes (CMS, 2020). According to Hughes, Quality Improvement (QI) is used in healthcare to assess and define problems that focus on quality and safety improvement for all health services individuals (Hughes, 2008). In healthcare today, there are many forms of assessing the quality and safety outcomes, most of them focus on either direct or indirect measures. There are five steps in quality improvement identifying the problem or issue, analyzing the data, developing the plan to correct, implementing the plan and reassessing to assure that the change has been successful. The two methods of quality measurement used by healthcare today would be Plan-Do-Study-Act and the Six Sigma approach (Hughes, 2008).
Plan-Do-Study-Act
The Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) model is one way to have “positive changes in health care processes” generally leading to favorable outcomes (Hughes, 2008). This method has been used “by the Institute of Healthcare Improvement for rapid cycle improvement” (Hughes, 2008). One of the exclusive factors of this method is the scientific nature of assessing and impacting change, this is effective and completed by small and regular PDSA’s instead of large, drawn out process, this is completed before any changes are done to the current system. Implementation of change will begin, data can now be collected, and results can be reviewed and defined through several crucial measurements. This will specify if the target has been accomplished or has failed. After the results are completed this will indicate implementing the change or to begin the process over again (Hughes, 2008).
Six Sigma
The Six Sigma model focuses on eliminating waste and defects, creating the improvement in quality and proficiency, by improving and restructuring all processes ( AHRQ, 2019). This method is utilized in health care to increase the consistency of the processes delivering health care services, increasing satisfaction and creating financial stability. There are two main approaches used with six sigma, one of the methods “ inspects the process outcomes and counts the defects, calculates a defect rate per million, and uses a statistical table to convert defect rate per million to a sigma metric” (Hughes, 2008). This is a method used for pretest and post-test studies. The second method utilized will estimate the process variation which foresees process accomplishments by determining a sigma metric from the well-defined tolerance levels and any differences recorded for the process. This method is used for the analytical process that the accuracy and precision can be determined by procedures that are under trial (Hughes, 2008). One of the components of Six Sigma is a five-step process also known as DMAIC, this process is define, measure, analyze, improve and control approach. The process on this begins with identifying the project, historical data is studied, and the scope of expected outcomes is defined. Next the quality performance standards are picked, objectives on performance are defined and variances are decided. Implementation of the project begins with, data that will be analyzed to identify how well the process has improved. This will then be supported by developing measures to determine the capability of the process (Hughes, 2008). Both the Six Sigma and PDSA remain interconnected through some of there key elements such as the planning phase in PDSA is related to defining the core process, customers, and requirements of the customers of Six Sigma. The do stages of PDSA is related to the performance measures of Six Sigma, this continues through many stages (Hughes, 2008).
In order to implement any of these quality improvement strategies, healthcare organizations will have to have strong leaders in place, who will support, be involved, be able to consistently push quality improvement commitments and assure changes will be completed as needed (Hughes, 2008). The requirements of leadership to assure the resources are met for the changing processes are as follows.
• Making sure there are adequate financial resources to fund training, purchasing and testing new technologies or equipment.
• Assure all people involved in the changing processes have adequate time and support from administration.
• Allow adequate time for projects to work.
• Create and enforce organizational expectations revolved around safety.
While leadership drives the quality improvement initiatives, it is also important for them to embrace the need for change, allow for change with the culture by enabling change, actively lead to change the culture for quality improvement and safety (Hughes, 2008).
According to Hughes, quality improvement entails five key elements for it to be successful: “ fostering and sustaining a culture of change and safety, developing and clarifying an understanding of the problem, involving key stakeholders, testing change strategies and continuous monitoring of performance and reporting of findings to sustain the change” (Hughes, 2008).

If i could Go Back in Time
Thursday Afternoon, on March 25th, 2011. I left my final examination hall; it was last day of my secondary school. On my way to home while driving, I was thinking constantly about how I would present my thoughts, my desire in front of my whole family. It was regarding the big life changing verdict that I wanted to take for myself. Every day after dinner we spent quality time in our family room. As I have a big huge joint family. Joint family is our popular Indian culture. This tradition, where the eldest in the family lays down rules, which are followed and accepted by all other members of the family, it is the reason that the family life is not chaotic. Together we talk, laugh, watch movies, discuss. Society at the present lives in an age where it is becoming ever more difficult to spend time together as a family. Many families nowadays think about if having quality time together is a thing of the past. But my family still has that going on.
I know I can always count on someone to help me feel better. I was most pampered grandkid and dearest to my grandpa. I wasn't just a kid to him: I was his granddaughter, and I was special. He was special to me as well. My grandpa use to always sits beside me on our special sofa (just reserved for us) during our family time and I used to tell him how my whole day was?, What I learnt from today’s self-experience; it was like my daily oral journal to him. And after listening to me he always has mature suggestions and advices for me. When I am with grandpa, I am still small granddaughter to him but yet he made me see things through grown up eyes.
Anyway, I still remember we were watching movie and suddenly I said; “I want to ask for your permission guys.” Pause. Meanwhile my mom jumped in between before I start to share my verdict, as she was already aware about the step I wanted to take.
Mom bit worriedly asked; “Rani are you sure you want to go?” (My other name is rani).
‘Yes, I am firm with my decision and I will.’ I replied.
“What’s the matter?” dad asked. “Nothing,” I said.
I took a deep breath as I was feeling nervous, but i let it slide out and dropped a bombshell: “I want to move to CANADA for my further studies at any cost” I said to everyone. Pause. I could see bolt from the blues kind of reaction on their faces. The concern behind their denial was because of their love and care towards me. Also, along with the whole big joint family we have 2 full time maids at home who do all our day to day house chores like cleaning, dishes, laundry and many more except cooking. My mom and aunts does cooking.
I remembered the battles line had been drawn between my grand pa and rest of my other family member. Grandpa always encouraged me with his bells on.
“Let them give their negative advices, my darling; ‘you go girl, you are my bravest granddaughter’. Braver than my grandsons”, he said.
The moment grandpa whispered this; my dad and my elder brother started arguing. “Dad, ‘please don’t give her false hopes and advice, she is too young to live on her own,’ and this is not about few miles away from the home, or same country and different state. She want to move to abroad, It means thousands miles away from us” they exclaimed.
I received denial from all other family members because; they were too worried about my survival on my own at the age of 17. However, my grandpa was exceptional, it’s not about he was not worried. In fact he don’t wanted me play waiting game. According to him my decision to be independent at this age was extraordinary.
‘Indian culture is far different than abroad western culture’, said my aunt and uncle.
‘I am agreed with all of your concerns and worrisome; though I will stand with rani to support her for her future endeavors’ grandpa replied without making an eye contact with other family member.
Inside deep down, my heart was saying that he was also against my decision; on the other hand he didn’t want me to discourage and not to tear me apart.
“How we will find place for her in abroad?” very worriedly said dad.
“Grandpa please, doesn’t be stubborn, please make her understand that it’s very difficult to survive on her own, this is not right choice that she want to make; she will be more happier here along with all of us around; What if one day she needed our help in middle of the night in abroad?, and we won’t be there beside her.” My elder brother exclaimed very emotionally through tears.
After all this huge arguments and discussion happened at one point I obtained second thought of not leaving my family behind. Their love and affection made me felt very emotional. And beside all of this my Grand pa was very firmed with me and said, ‘my lovely daughter don’t you worry, you made right decision and I am very proud of you; everything will be alright, all the doors will open spontaneously ones you will on your desire path.’
He started patting on my back and again said “I am really proud of you.”
Later on I received positive answer from every member of the family; they really approved my decision and allowed me to move abroad. As the date of departure creeps up closer, mixed emotions covered me completely and i felt its normal, anticipation and the cloud of anxiety followed me quickly. The day before my departure we had small farewell party arranged by friends and family, they all were very happy for me but my grandpa looked sad that day. I knew that deep inside of him; his heart was broken because of my departure the next morning. I remember that I even told him, “Grandpa, please do not worry about me, I’ll be fine. I am assuring you that I will write emails and send you pictures as much as possible.”
“I know sweetheart, I know you will for sure.” He hugged me and replied.
It almost feels like as if it was just yesterday when I was on my own on a plane not truly knowing what to believe but excited for what the future had for me.
I reached Canada safely, it was first day away from family, and felt heart wrenching but I was strong and determined. I woke up next morning excitedly for the convocation day and I was even more excited to share my daily oral journal with my grandpa over the video call. I was in a convocation hall listening to the speeches given by Dean of college. Unexpectedly I was interrupted by a phone call from my dad.
‘Hello. Hi dad.’ I said happily. Pause.
After dead silence my dad started crying, He tearfully replied, ‘Honey, Grandpa is no more’.
“He left all of us behind; God took him away’, ‘your Grandpa died this morning”. Said my dad
I immediately felt paralyzed by regret and I shattered into grieve with tears.
I hung up the call without answering. It was first time I lost someone close to me, and I was thousands of miles away from home. He was the most amazing, strong, enthusiastic, compassionate and generous person I have ever known. He taught me so much in life. He made me so brave and strong. I always had his back and support.
Losing Grandpa was one of the hardest things I have survived through. First couples of months were difficult for me to live in abroad away from home all alone holding grief of my Grandpa’s death. People say that losing someone special is a misfortune, I believed them but I never understood the horror of it. It was the day when I thought I would definitely not gather the pieces of my broken heart.
It has been 6 years since Grandpa left us and it still hurts like it was yesterday. I always think if I could go back in time, I would have never left him to move abroad and I could have hugged Grandpa so tight during his last breath. As much as it discomforts, I am glad that God gave me the honor and chose me to be his granddaughter, and i will keep him in my heart forever.

A Special Memory
I have always wondered if adults remember anything from school. I think of this every time I don’t like a new assignment; I try to give reasons why I believe it is pointless. I always say, “we aren't even going to remember this, so why are we studying it?” So, I decided to study and see if adults really do or do not remember what they learned back in school.
While studying memory and memory loss, I have found that there are still a lot of questions about memory. The brain is still a mystery to people. I found a lot of analogies and guesses from different people, scientists and physiologists. Each had different theories when it comes to memory. A man named Robert Bjork, a psychology professor, called your memory a “storage container” containing memories of your past. (ucla.edu) What this means is that your brain is just storing memories so that you can access them whenever you need them. This is clearly a false statement because you and I forget things all the time. Of course, there are different people who have different brains that will remember things better or worse than others. According to Richards and Frankland, “the goal of memory is not just to store information accurately but to ‘optimize decision-making' in chaotic, quickly changing environments.” (Edutopia.org) Their theory is that memories are purposefully forgotten in the brain if they aren’t useful. This is so that our brains aren’t crammed with excess information and we can access important memories or information.
Cramming information into your mind the night before a big test or event is good for about three days, but you will then forget the information. This is a perfect example of how NOT to learn something. A psychologist from Germany named Ebbinghaus did an experiment where he tried to memorize a list of over 2000 made-up words. He did pretty badly after one day and remembered almost none of them after two days. His research shows we forget a lot quickly, and then the rest of it more slowly over time. That’s called the “forgetting curve” (mytuition.nz). Most people agree that this strategy of studying is not a good way to study. Throughout all of my research, I have learned that if you quiz yourself over a few days' time, you are much more likely to have that information long term. This seemed to be one area that all my sources agreed on. Some of the things I read talked about how exciting something is, saying that if it is very exiting then you will probably remember it. If something is very, very boring, you will probably remember being very, very bored doing or learning it. If an experience is so-so, then you are more likely to forget the time altogether. You have a high probability of remembering the important details of a time or experience over facts.
If you don’t often think of something enough, you will eventually forget it. To put that into a real-life scenario, imagine in your past you had a backpack for school, it breaks, and you get a new one. You will slowly forget your past backpack and think of the new one. Most sites agreed that studying in chunks of time is easily the best form of studying. In my opinion, the best way of studying is to read about something in chunks and to quiz yourself on the thing you are studying. I have found that this has been the most effective method for most of the people that I know.
Reading notes repeatedly can and will help some students, but for most it is just long, annoying, and time-wasting. I have learned that writing things down is a great way to try to remember things. Making small tests for yourself is a great way to study and you don’t have to worry about those tests affecting your grade. Instead, you are seeing if they will increase it! Spacing out your study times is a very important component while studying. Having breaks up to about thirty minutes will help your brain memorize the newly processed information. When you learn something and don’t think, talk, or teach about the subject for a few days, the memory becomes harder and harder to access later in the week. You must spread out your study periods different ways over time. So, you may study on Monday and Tuesday, then Friday you can quiz yourself, then that weekend, study a little more for the next week.
Neuroscientist Daniel Willingham calls memories “residues of thought” because when you are studying you are trying to remember the material that you are studying. A lot of the memories that we can easily recall are not us trying very hard to remember something. Most times, we remember an important attribute or description of something and that is what makes you remember an object, person, fact, or event. For example, last year I went to Las Vegas. I don’t remember a lot of the details of the trip, but what I do remember was that everything was lit up and extremely exciting! I remember the trophy I won and parts of my competition, as well. I think I remember those things because I have an emotional connection to them, they weren’t just things we checked off a tourist to-do list. With all of this in mind, it seems that remembering facts you learned a long time ago would be much harder and less likely than remembering skills or processes, things you learned how to do. All of these are very good guesses and theories, but still we don’t know what is correct.
The things we learn in school are called standards. That is how teachers know what to teach in each class and each grade. The standards we are currently using are called Common Core, but they only started in 2010, when I was in Kindergarten. Before that, they used the “Content Standards for California Public Schools,” (CDE.ca.gov) which we quite a bit different. Since my plan is to test people older than myself to see what they remember, I better use those old standards to test them. In addition, I saw that many comparisons of old and new (Common Core) standards talked about learning facts and memorizing information in the old ones and then how the new standards focus more on learning how to do things and why they work. I am curious to know if my generation will remember what they learned in school better than the people older than because of that big change.
In conclusion, memory is still mostly a wonder to mankind. It seems that scientists are intrigued by it and all the parts of the brain, but still can’t really explain or prove a lot of it. Mostly what we know is that if you think of something often enough, then you will probably not forget it. Also, that there are multiple different ways of studying but staying up the night before the big test to study is the least likely way to really learn and remember something, although it seems like what most kids do. There are great ways of studying, including making small tests for yourself across a time span, to see if you know and understand the information. How long you will remember that information really depends on how much, how often, and how well you studied, as well as your connection to the material and how often you rethink about it.

Memories with Friends
Laughter enhances a person's psychological well-being. People often laugh at humorous and entertaining films, friends, and occurrences. In most occasions, people laugh involuntarily. However, people have different capacities to control to what extent they laugh. At times, laughter can be sarcastic and ironical based on the prevailing situation. Personally, I usually laugh when I remember the most embarrassing moments I have experienced in the past, and these memories are even lighter when described by my friends. The better part of it is the fact that some of the awkward moments could have been avoided. I remember one of the incidences involved my friend who had spent the whole night watching a movie so when he came to class, he was dizzy and decided to take a nap on his desk. However, he started to whisper some funny sounds then the situation intensified and he started screaming. We were very shocked about the incident. We were laughing loudly but we woke him up. He told us that he was dreaming about the horror movie he was watching the previous night. Most of the moments we shared with my friends turned out to be humor. According to Marx and Sienkiewicz (21), there is no joke that is universal. Each and every moment has its own fashion of humor.
I enjoy spending time mostly with my long-time peers as they always have funny memories of the past. Friends have diverse backgrounds that create humor when narrated (Marx and Sienkiewicz 12). The topics vary, and the stories are always explained hysterically. For instance, I still remember a funny moment that occurred nearly eight years ago. I went with my friends to watch a horror movie. The film was so frightening that I screamed. When I meet my friends, they always remind me of the occurrence. I am still embarrassed, but the way they do it is amusing. They keep on telling me that I screamed in such a way that one would have thought that I met a Zombie in real life moment. However, I was carried away by the movie and forgot that it was just a mere movie and not a real-life experience. My colleagues also have had awkward experiences; thus, I usually enjoy spending an afternoon with them over the weekend. We always remind ourselves of the past situations that make me laugh uncontrollably. For instance, one of my friends refused to share some money she was given by her uncle with her little sister. The little sister decided to revenge on her. When they went swimming in a public swimming pool, the little sister hid her older sister's clothes behind the bench. When it came the time to go home, she could not find her clothes. The little sister said that she would go and report to their mother that she was playing with some boys and that is why her clothes disappeared with them. The older sister started pleading with her to tell her where the clothes were and promised to share the money with her. The little sister won, and she parted with a larger amount. We always laugh when we remind her about the incident. The little sister demanded that she would only do that is she gave her the three-quarter of the money. This tendency implies that we have a considerable sense of humor because others would find it uncomfortable to share their most humbling past. Marx and Sienkiewicz (26) noted that there is any moment that turns out to be humorous is unique and that there is no better laughter than the one that invokes other jokes out of it. For instance, when I remind my friend about the incident, there is always a possibility of another joke arising from it.
Movies, especially comedy, also elicit a great deal of laughter due to the performances of its characters. In the company of friends, I chuckle at their prowess to mimic the actions of the film characters. During these meetings, we usually discuss the funniest movies or clips we might have watched. In the process, we end up sharing short videos or 'memes' stored on our phones. The Hangover is one of the films that made me laugh hysterically when my friends narrated it. Their descriptions prompted me to watch it afterward. Nevertheless, I always laugh at how my colleagues recount the character of the protagonist known as Alan. The cast is brilliant at performing jokes, but my friends' interpretations of the same are even funnier. They make jokes out of the jokes. For instance, Mr. Stu, one of the characters asks, 'why can't we remember anything that happened last night?' Allan, another character replies, 'Memory loss.' Of course, failure to remember anything is memory loss, so Mr. Stu was mad about that answer and became rude. This was laughable, and whenever we engage in a conversation with my friends, they answer the same way, and this makes it even funnier. Some friends always support one character while the others denounce his actions; the resultant arguments are hilarious (Doss 6). I also spend my free time watching the latest movies. This way, I also have something to share with friends as we laugh at funny videos and characters. Briefly put, I enjoy watching comedy shows, but my friends' interpretations of our favorite jokes produce greater humor. Although there are no defined qualities of humor, every joke is unique to everybody but the one that makes people laugh most is the one considered more appealing (Marx and Sienkiewicz 24). My friends and I have never considered anyone among us to be a comedian but humor has become part of our lives.
From my experience, laughing is unconditional and is elicited by different settings. My laughter is always evident when in the company of long-time or school peers. My friends often expose me to funny situations. It is in their company that many embarrassing events of the past come up. These memories are the greatest source of laughter. I also find it extremely humorous when my classmates discuss present-day issues and movies or when they share short clips and memes. Moreover, their imitation of movie characters prompts the wildest laughter. As such, I usually relish the weekends when we have enough time to catch up. From this self-reflection, I can conclude that I have an admirable sense of humor.

Breast Cancer Treatment
Cancer comes in many different forms, but the overall process of it is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells dividing and spreading to the surrounding tissues and changing the overall DNA. One of the most common types of cancer is breast cancer and it begins in the cells of the breast; this cancer can occur in both men and women but its more common in women. Most breast cancers start in the ducts that carry milk to the nipple, and others begin in the glands that make the breast milk. The symptoms usually being with a lump in the breast, the size/shape of the breast changing, peeling, crusting, flaking, redness, and much more. The specific causes of this cancer are unknown, but it can be due to a combination of factors like hormonal, lifestyle, and environmental. There are many forms of therapy and ranges from “western” drug options all the way to natural herbal remedies, but it all depends on a person’s preference of treatment.
Breast Cancer is so common that more than 250,000 new cases occur every year, so it is very important for women to get a diagnostic mammogram every year. There are different types of breast cancer, and some require more intense treatment than others. According to Breast Cancer Treatment, it states, “For nonmetastatic breast cancer, the main goals of therapy are eradicating tumor from the breast and regBreast Cancer Treatmentional lymph nodes and preventing metastatic recurrence. Local therapy for nonmetastatic breast cancer consists of surgical resection and sampling or removal of axillary lymph nodes, with consideration of postoperative radiation” (Waks and Winer, 2019, p. 290). A nonmetastatic tumor is cancer that has not spread from the initial primary site to the rest of the body yet, so the treatment is usually not that intense. Waks and Winer (2019) state, “For metastatic breast cancer, therapeutic goals are prolonging life and symptom palliation. Currently, metastatic breast cancer remains incurable in virtually all affected patients” (Waks and Winer, 2019, p. 290). Metastatic breast cancer is the more severe form and annually takes about 40,000 lives a year. This type of cancer can progress quickly and about 20-30% of women will eventually develop this within their early cancer stages, this is treatable but not curable.
The therapy for nonmetastatic breast cancer consists of many different options from endocrine therapy to tamoxifen, and Waks and Winer (2019) state,
“Endocrine therapy, which counteracts estrogen-promoted tumor growth, is the primary systemic therapy for HR+/ERBB2? breast cancer. Standard endocrine therapy consists of oral antiestrogen medication taken daily for 5 years, and options differ according to menopausal status. Tamoxifen is a selective estrogen receptor modulator that competitively inhibits estrogen’s binding to ER and is effective in both pre- and postmenopausal women” (Waks and Winer, 2019, p. 290).
If a woman stays on Tamoxifen for 5 years, the possibility for breast cancer to reoccur reduce by 50%, and it works by inhibiting the binding of estrogen to the estrogen receptor. For metastatic cancer,

Radiation therapy may also be an option because the radiation can be dispersed throughout the entire breast, chest wall, and lymph nodes. These medical treatments are always available and presented to patients, but there are also more natural and herbal medicine that can be used.
Medicinal herbs and natural remedies are used all the time for relief and cancer treatments. There are many clinical studies reported that have shown the effects and benefits of this type of medicine, and the patient’s quality of life. For example,
“In a randomized controlled trial, 2972 patients with invasive or noninvasive breast carcinoma received either 200?mg of vitamin A preparation (Fenretinide) per day or no therapy. At 97 months posttreatment there was a significant reduction in recurrence of local breast cancer in premenopausal women” (Yin et al, 2013)
This study shows the reduction in breast cancer reoccurring and the specific role of vitamins in the prevention of cancer. As an alternative to tamoxifen therapy, “Soy-derived phytoestrogens are popularly recommended for treating postmenopausal symptoms in women with breast cancer undergoing tamoxifen therapy” (Yin et al, 2013). The soybean extracts the toxins and will confer the weak estrogenic effects. Traditional Chinese medication has also shown to have anti-breast cancer agents as well and is mainly noted for its radioprotection effects during radiotherapy. These herbal medicines are commonly used after a person’s initial treatment in chemotherapy or radiation, and it is basically used as a combination of western and natural therapy. The main goal of natural remedies is to increase quality of life while at the same time decreasing the negative side effects during treatment.
Overall, cancer treatment for an individual will always depend on the tumor type, stage of cancer, and the patient’s preference. There are many opinions on what the best treatment should be and what will be the most successful. Traditional herbal medicines are becoming more known and increasingly used, but medicine practitioners don’t fully accept this practice because they believe in traditional medicine. And on the other hand, many people believe cancer is naturally occurring so the treatments should be natural as well and that is mainly what will work best. I believe every situation is different and everyone’s body will react differently. So, treatment shouldn’t be focused on which one is better, but instead how both of them can be used to help create the best and most realistic outcome for the patient’s health and future.

The Film i Like Best (essay)
The film I will be analyzing, and reviewing is a documentary on the Mexican American War by the History Channel. The documentary was published on YouTube by AllHistories on September 28, 2009. The Mexican American War was fought because the United States wanted some of the land Mexico claimed was theirs. As Oscar De La Hoya states, this documentary “examines the Mexican American War from both sides; why it began, how it was fought, and why it ended the way it did (1:42, Part 1).” In this essay, I will argue that there is bias toward the Mexican side, therefore the documentary does not tell the whole story from both sides.
The Mexican American War officially began in May of 1846. The President at the time was James Polk. He had wanted to go to war with Mexico for some time but did not have the proper reasoning to declare war. To provoke Mexico into starting a war, Polk sent troops to the Rio Grande where they would set up camp at Fort Texas. From Mexico’s point of view this was their land, however, from the United State’s point of view it was their land. This led to Mexican troops firing on an American scouting patrol, killing 11 and taking 52 prisoners (9:05, part 1). The killing of Americans on The United States’ soil was all Polk needed to convince congress to declare war. The war lasted two years with many bloody battles resulting in heavy casualties for both sides. The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo gave the United States the victory along with the land they wanted.
The film starts off by saying, “this is the war Abraham Lincoln called unjust and Ulysses S. Grant labeled one of the most unjust wars ever waged (0:00, first part).” This is one of the main arguments of the film and I believe they left it unexplained. The film makes this argument; to me it was never backed up with evidence. With that said, I believe this documentary did do a good job portraying the events of the Mexican American War. In the introduction, De La Hoya claimed the film examines the war from both sides. I will argue the documentary did not tell the whole story from both sides without any bias. For example, the film mentions that General Zachary Taylor directly ignored a Presidential order to hold a defensive position and pursue no further offensive action (0:33, fourth part).” This ordered was completely ignored which I believe would have gotten General Taylor in some trouble; however, the film never tells the viewers if Taylor was punished for his disobedience. After watching the documentary, I felt the narrator and commentators favored the Mexican side. Many times, when talking about the Americans it was in a negative tone with sad music playing in the background (1:16, third part). The way they portray the leaders of the Mexican army is much different then the way they portray the leaders of the United States army. For example, the film makes General Santa Anna look like a hero even when he loses some battles. This is different from the way General Scott and Taylor are portrayed. The two American generals won many battles for their side. I will argue further that more should have been done to portray them as heroes to their people in the same way Santa Anna was heroic to the Mexican people. From what I have learned from the class and the film I believe the video did a good job accurately showing the battles and major events of the war. However, there was one major thing left out of this film, the ending of the war. I was very confused when the documentary just ended without talking about the ending to the Mexican American War. This is a major part of the war that is completely left out which leaves the viewers wondering what happened. At the end of the documentary it says, “to be continued (4:02, sixth part),” but there was no continuation of the film.
In this documentary, they brought in multiple different commentators to share information with the viewers of the documentary. The first person they brought in was Jesus Velasco Marquez. Marquez’s specialty is the history between the United States and Mexico; he wrote multiple books on the relations between the two countries. Velasco Marquez was also crucial to the making of the PBS documentary about the Mexican American War. He was also part of the foreign services for Mexico. I do believe he is qualified to give his input on this documentary of the Mexican American War; his information does contribute to the validity of the film in a positive way. The second person brought to the documentary is Richard Winders. Winders wrote the famous book Mr. Polk’s Army; this book is about the lives of soldiers during the Mexican American War has won multiple awards. Winders is very qualified to be a part of the documentary, not only did he write a very famous book about the United States army during the war, but he has much more expertise on the topic of the Mexican American War. The next person to be introduced into the documentary was Associate Professor of History Brian DeLay. After researching I have found that DeLay does not have much expertise in the Mexican American War. DeLay has written a book about the Native American raids and the Mexican American War, but this book examines the Native American raids in the 1830s which is before the war began. I do not believe DeLay is qualified to be a part of the documentary; I think he does not contribute to the film and should have been left out. Sam W. Haynes was the next commentator to appear in the film. He like DeLay does not have much research on the Mexican American War; I believe he does not contribute to the validity of this film. Therefore, he should not have been included in this film. The final commentator to appear in the documentary was Josefina Zoraida Vasquez. She is an expert in Mexican History especially on the Mexican American War. Vasquez has written multiple books and has done extensive research on the War. She is one of the most qualified people who could have appeared in this documentary. I believe three of the five commentators to appear were qualified to be a part of the video. However; I will argue two of the three (that were qualified) had bias towards the Mexican side of the war. I believe there should have been more commentators brought in that had expertise on the American side of the war. Those commentators that were qualified had expertise in Mexican History. I argue there should have been more commentators with expertise in American History.
The format of this documentary was very effective in giving information on what was happening during the war; I believe the way the information was presented was the biggest strength of the document. It was presented in a way that was very easy to understand what was happening; they did a good job of portraying the significance of each event of the war. I thought it was a very good idea to add in outside sources to comment and give information on the war. However, I will argue they should have brought in more experts on the American side of the war. I believe this would have made the documentary more complete. One weakness of the document was the pictures and/or videos they showed. Sometimes the pictures or videos they would show would not give the whole picture on what they said they was happening. For example, they mentioned that General Taylor had a very informal way of running his camps (4:57, First Part), but the picture they showed did not show a camp that looked to be informal. There were multiple times throughout the video where the narrator would mention the intimidating appearance of the United States army, but in the pictures shown of the American soldiers they did not appear to be intimidating at all. The final thing I thought was a major weakness was how the documentary just ended. In the introduction, Oscar De Le Hoya mentioned the film would examine why the war ended the way it did. However, the film just ended without ever discussing the end of the war. This contributes further to my argument that the documentary was biased toward the Mexican side. Upon further research, The United States did end up winning this war, gaining the territory that is now seven states. I believe this should have been included in the documentary.
In this essay, I argued that there was bias toward the Mexican side which lead to the documentary not telling the whole story from both sides of the war. Throughout the documentary the narrator as well as the commentators that spoke on the film talked negatively toward the United States. There were multiple times in the film where the commentators and narrator would show sympathy toward the Mexican side for their losses, but not the United States. There were five of these commentators brought in, three of them I argued were qualified to be in the film and of these three two of them specialized in Mexican History specifically the Mexican American War. I believe there should have been at least one more qualified person to provide information on the Americans in the Mexican American War. Overall, I believe the documentary did a good job in explaining why the war started and how it was fought; it made the war easy to understand. However, to improve the film I think the producers should have included a better conclusion to the video, so the viewers would know what happened at the end of the war.

How does Culture Affect Society?
When humans are growing up, is culture a necessary asset to forming one’s personality? There are multiple sides to this argument. Culture is necessary for raising a child. However, that shouldn’t define who the child becomes Children should be able to be their own person, and not have to worry about having to act a certain way just because that is what their culture says they should do. children shouldn't feel obligated to act and look like everyone else in their culture. Culture influences human learning, and when a student with a different culture enters the classroom sometimes, they speak another language. The language and behaviors for each student differs. “And for many students the language at home is so divergent that entering school is like going into a foreign country and speaking a new language.” (Futterman,2015)
When humans grow up without culture, do they invent it? Paleoanthropologist “Ian Tattersall” says that you should not think of human beings as independent of culture and their society. Humans shouldn’t be judged on their culture. They should be able to be a person, and not have to act like their culture says they should. In regard to education, teachers should have consideration for the students who don’t speak the language of the school. Not all students are the same culture or speak the same language of the majority, and sometimes students or even teachers take advantage of that. Most teachers are not accounting for how culture will impact the student’s ability to participate in class and it would impair how well they learn and how much information they obtain. Some students also may come from a household where they are to be “seen not heard”, so the students don’t feel comfortable speaking up, or speaking up could be considered disrespectful in their culture. (Pusey,2018)
Child development is a long interactive process. Each and every child is unique and has a different way of learning and interacting with the world around them. What the children take in from others, shapes how they think and behave. Children growing up in different cultures receive specific inputs from the environment around them. And that is the reason that there are so many cultural differences in the children’s beliefs and behaviors. Language is one of the many ways that influence children’s development. Languages influence how people think and reason. From early infancy mothers tend to talk to their children differently. In an article on a website called “the conversation” they say that German mothers tend to focus on the things that their infants needs or just them as a person. Therefore, the children have a different outlook on the world once they enter the classroom or learning environment. (Huang,2018)
Each classroom is different. Every single child learns in a unique and different way. The experience each student has in the classroom proves this. Most educators can talk about the learning differences of the children, whether it’s the name of the learning style or cognitive styles, physological type, or multiple intelligence. Students who are learning bring their own approach to the classroom. They also bring their own different talents and interests into the classroom. The individual learners background or family culture into their learning, and it affects them, and how they intake information. (Manitri,2013)
In an article on a website called “the advocate” it talks about the cultural differences and how it affects the way human look at earth, and the way they learn. It says Asian children see the world in terms of the relationship between things where as American children see the world in terms of the objects as distinct entities. There are a bunch of different theories. The “cultural deficit theory” says that some students do bad in school because the linguistic, social and cultural nature, does not prepare the child for the work the child will be required to do in school. For example, some students may not have as many books to read at home as other students in different homes would. Not being able to read has a negative effect on the child's vocabulary skills and or vocabulary development. Vocabulary development may also be stunted by the amount of verbal interaction at home. some children are being verbally and physically abused at home which has a negative effect on the child. The child will be mentally affected by this, therefore stunting their learning ability. As a result, some students arrive to school lacking the vocabulary development that they are expected to have. The “expectation theory” focuses solely on how teachers treat the students with different cultures. Teachers often expect less from students of different racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. When teachers expect students with different races to perform poorly than they lower the standards of what they expect from the student and they teach how little they expect the student to know. At this rate, the students then preform to the low standards the teachers expect from them. They tested this theory and they told a teacher that some of the children had racial or cultural differences and the children who were expected to learn at a certain level preformed higher than the students who weren't expected to learn very much. The “cultural difference theory” is based on the idea that students who are raised in different cultural settings may approach education and learning in different ways. It is important for teachers to be aware of the differences between the school atmosphere and the home environment. People from different cultures may have an approach to education that is different from the usual approach used in American schools. “For instance, differences can be noted in the Polynesian concept of learning, whereby younger children are generally taught by older children rather than by adults.” This is a very different approach to learning and an approach that may need to be considered in an American school that is attended by Polynesian students. This would probably help the students perform better. (lynch,2018)
There are some limitations resulting from the use of Wikipedia and using Wikipedia as a source. The styles of learning are influenced by how culture socializes with its children and young people. Some scholars believe that cultural learning differences may be responsible to the physical environment in the areas in which a culture was initially founded. All of these environmental differences consist of climate, migration patterns, war, agricultural suitability, and endemic pathogens. Cultural learning allows individuals to gather skills that they would be unable to rather than if they were doing it independently. Cultural learning is thought to be particularly just for humans. Humans learn things from a very young age compared to adults. On the basis of cultural learning, people create, remember and deal with ideas. Humans understand and apply certain things of their culture in their everyday learning. This helps sometimes, but it can also be bad. Considering there are a lot of racist people who may not agree with the other persons culture and feel the need to voice their opinion.

“Against School” by John Taylor Gatto (essay)
After reading his views on the school system in America, I do agree and disagree with some part of his statement he made on the school system in America. John Gatto opposes school, depicts a very pathological picture of the America school system. Gatto, explanation about school system sounds more like an explanation of prison or sweet shop than a school. He insists that the school is not a place for children to learn, grow and prosper. Instead, he believes the school is aiming to oppress the children, they lose their human nature, limit their growth and become adults. Some of John Gatto’s criticisms are fair. I did not disagree immediately with his views on childhood. Immediately attacking those who did not grow fast was the idea that I was embarrassed. I could not imagine that somebody could stimulate entry into an advanced education system for the simple reason that teenagers would grow faster. Children develop at different times. It makes them unprepared for the task. When they are young, they will not be successful in the lesson. He does not really study the students, but they can memorize methods that can be applied to specific problems. Because they are not developed fast. I think every student has the position to learn. Furthermore, he made a statement by saying the school can be boredom for many students and teachers as well, and I really agree with him on this. school can be very stressful sometimes. From my personal experience sometimes when am sick, I normally try my possible best just to be in school because I don’t want to fail or miss any of my classes, which I think is very depressing. When thinking about my educational background, I think that I am lucky. Because my family has really support me financially developing my studies and growing over time. This experience has made me more aware of the general tragedy of teaching inspiration to me and the larger system of creativity and suppression of personal thinking.
But I do not think John gatto’s ambiguous solution, letting them manage themselves, as perfect as he wants. At the heart of his argumentation is the theory that the current education system is the power of integration and silence that is used on after another in the group. I do not think the lack of the system, all the freedom and independence that it promises will lead society effectively from this problem. Several structures are necessary, there may be some pressure, stress and difficulty when exercising in the correct way. However, the main factor in this case is the responsibility and responsibility of both parties, teacher and student to education. In other words, this “right way” needs to be “right way” to increase the individuality of each student, but it also needs to be able to use those precious qualities.

Transformational leadership is a leadership style that encourages, inspires, and motivates employees to be innovative and creative (White). It focuses on one's emotions, moral values, ethical behavior, specific standards, and goals planned for the future. Transformational leadership contains altruistic behaviors as this type of leadership focuses on satisfying people's various needs and treating them with complete respect. Transformational leaders focus on helping followers grow and improve their performance. They want to help followers perform to their fullest potential and be the best they can be. Political sociologist, James MacGregor Burns expressed his understandings between two types of leadership styles: transactional and transformational. Transactional leadership is a style that promotes good behavior through rewards and bad behavior with punishment (Northouse). For example, if an employee goes above and beyond for their company and achieves their goals and more, the management team might reward this employee with a promotion, in which is then demonstrating transactional leadership. Research says that employees do not necessarily view transactional leaders as trustworthy or as if those types of leaders have the employee's best interests in mind. Instead, employees tend to lean more toward transformational leadership. This is because transformation leaders display characteristics such as optimism, motivation, acknowledgment of employee's work, trustworthiness, and inspiration. Leaders who express transformational leadership tend to follow moral behaviors in their everyday lives and they are great role models. Transformational leaders help their followers maintain moral behaviors on a daily basis and guide them into selflessness behavior. Transactional leadership is different from transformational leadership because transactional leaders do not focus on the desires and needs of their followers or focus on helping the follower grow and prosper. Transactional leadership is simply a 'transaction'. For example, if the follower displays good behavior, they will be rewarded; they are getting something in return for displaying good behavior (2014, Nov. 25). The only reason why transactional leaders are influential on their followers is because the followers know it is best to give the leader the results they want and everyone wins.
A charismatic leader is charming and persuasive. Charismatic leaders are often referred to as transformational leaders because they share many similar characteristics. Charismatic leaders' main focus is to make processes and procedures easier and more effective, while transformational leaders goal is to help their followers think and act the same way as the leader while delivering impressive results (2014, Nov. 25). Five effects that charismatic leaders can have on their followers is an increase in trust between the followers and the leader, an increase in similar cognitive thinking, high respect for their leader, an increase in appreciation and admiration for their leader, and viewing the leader as their role model. These effects occur when the charismatic leader has a good and healthy relationship with their followers (Northouse). When the charismatic leader is a role model to the followers, the leader inspires and motivates the team to achieve high goals and overcome more difficult obstacles. The followers of a charismatic leader should be cautious of their charismatic leader becoming self-centered. They could obtain excessive confidence and optimism in which would blind them. Followers should also be cautious of their leading being in denial of problems and failures (Nguyen).
When authentic leaders 'understand their own values, place followers' needs above their own, and work with followers to align their interests in order to create a greater common good', they portray leadership because they are expressing self-knowingness, moral behavior, strategic processing, and relational transparency (Northouse). Authentic leaders are like transformational leaders where they focus on making positive impacts on the people and society and are filled with good intentions for their team and/or organization. Authentic leaders are sincere and lead with their heart (Kruse). By authentic leaders expressing all of these traits, they create happiness within their team, motivation, and increased performance.
Leadership is extremely articulate, and it requires leaders to motivate and inspire their followers to understand and achieve common goals amongst the team. Leaders can obtain many different traits from all different types of leadership styles. Balance is key when it comes to expressing these traits. It's important for a leader to not be too much of anything, like being too honest, or too confident. Authentic leaders and transformational leaders focus more on the individuals of the team, this is a great tactic to use when trying to increase motivation or productivity. Leadership traits are developed through time through experiences, and not every leader portrays the same ones.

Respect is a “feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities,qualities, or achievements. Respect involves obeying people, but certain people. Your parents for example, deserve great amounts of respect because they dedicated their lives and unbelievable amounts of love to you. Rules of showing respect are always to answer when you’re called or asked a question, say hello to them when you see them, hold the door for them, and asked if they need help, depending on the situation. I respect my parents everyday, but sometimes when I get very upset with them and I act out and disrespect them by yelling, showing attitude, or saying something I shouldn’t have. If you disrespect a person, most likely they wouldn’t respect you anymore.
The trick to always being respectful is by being kind. One of the ways you can respect a person is by seeing the person’s point of view to understand a situation.When you do that, you get to understand them on a different level and see the positive side to things. In the NIV version of the Bible, in Matthew 7:12, it says: ”So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets”. I chose this quote because it’s describing what respect is and how we should us it. This quote means that we should treat others how we would like to be treated everyday which is with kindness. This also sums up what the Laws and prophets are about and how they’re used.
Responsibility is “the state or fact of having a duty to deal with something or of having control over someone”. In life, we all have responsibilities. It’s a part of growing up because it lets us take matters into our own hands and decide what to do and how to do it in your own way, most likely without supervision. Testing our responsibility is how people know when to trust one another with important matters. It is not easy to be responsible all the time because it involves having a good memory and good skills for the things you’re responsible for. I think I am responsible, but I don’t have the best memory. For someone my age, my way of being responsible is by doing homework and chores like walking the dog, emptying the dishwasher, and remembering to do the the laundry. If I forget, I let my mom down and then she thinks I’m irresponsible and just don’t want to do it. But that’s not true, I want her to trust me with more things so she knows that she can rely on me. Responsibility is a hard thing to keep up but we all have to take initiative in our lives so we can grow.
Being responsible and respectful help people think about what the kind of person you are. Another quote from the NIV Bible: “But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor. For each will have to bear his own load.” from Galatians 6:4-5. I chose this quote because it shows how responsibility is used and how people know whether or not a person is responsible for their own actions. This quote means that these people are responsible for their own work and will do their work alone, not with the help from a neighbor because we are all trusted to do our own jobs by ourselves with no help to test our independence.
These things help shape my faith and life because I have to be responsible for how I treat people around me because it’s my job as a follower of God to respect what He and Jesus did for us and to treat the world with respect. The concept of respect is like “one of the Ten Commandments that says you should honor your mother and father because respect is a sign of honor” and the concept of responsibility is making sure that we honor our God and only God and take ownership for our actions so that one day we can confess to God and He will forgive us. I want to be a completely responsible and respectful person soon so that I will truly live up to mine and God’s goals and so I can treat everyone equally and fairly.

She pauses a total of three times. This shows her fear, panick, and distress in this moment as she pauses to stop and process how her actions have lead to the guilt that will stay with her forever. When she says “Yet who would have thought the old man to have had so much blood in him.”, she is referring to Duncan and referencing the effect that his blood, killing him, has had on her and Macbeth's emotional and physical states. She is also mentions the motif of blood which throughout the play to symbolize guilts so by mentioning it, she is expressing that no one knew how emotionally damaging and how much guilt she would experience after killing Duncan.
