Karl Marx does not Identify

Karl Marx does not identify a world regulated by competition with the Eden of the innate rights of man' (Marx, 1867, Ch. 6), Controlled by equal exchange and freedom but shows that behind all this there is a world of exploitation and social coercion. Marx states that the capability to comprehend, infer and think while following a logical structure was the key for society to achieve equality. Marx also thought that thru reason humans could continue to make progress and eventually reach their full potential. In my opinion it is odd that Marx argues that competition is what separates human beings since he does not consider that competition sometimes brings out the best qualities human beings have.

Marx argued that Capitalist production comes from the separation of labor from the means of production, what this means is that in order for workers to produce they must be employed by free wage labor. Competition among manufacturers resulted from what was known before as the competition between capital and labor Free competition is first the free movement of capital and nothing else (Marx 1973, p. 651). Marx believed competition was an external coercive law', which imposes capital logic over the person and the society and produces economical tendencies. Marx demonstrates that it develops thru capital and he argues that the presence of a competitive human nature' is part of this process.

According to Marx labor is what makes us human. "As individuals express their life, so they are. What they are, therefore, coincides with their production, both with what they produce and with how they produce" (Marx 32). If Marx acknowledges that labor is what makes us human I do not understand why he argues that competition separates us because competition benefits customers as businesses are under pressure to keep improving products and the quality. Marx stated In proportion as the bourgeoisie, i.e., capital, is developed, in the same proportion is the proletariat, the modern working class, developed a class of laborer's, who live only so long as they find work, and who find work only so long as their labor increases capital.

These laborer's, who must sell themselves piecemeal, are a commodity, like every other article of commerce, and are consequently exposed to all the vicissitudes of competition, to all the fluctuations of the market. I disagree with Marx due to the fact that I believe if there is a lack of competition then there will be a lack of market. If competition is dissolved there will be a decline in the market growth, competition can help the market identify its strengths and weaknesses. Throughout Marx's argument he does not consider the non-economic causes of change in society.

Marx seems to be focused on societies that have not been treated right. But now a day's people in the economy can buy shares and being an entrepreneur is encouraged by the capitalist system, in the way that if you work hard and be persistent many times you will be rewarded with opportunities that will allow you to pursue your interests and become successful.
