Food has changed humanity in many ways, especially when it comes to weight. Children are experiencing things that only adults used to obtain. We should have a controlled and healthy diet because our food affects us mentally, physically, and it designates our character.

Maybe we’ve been grumpy before eating, and then a happy bee after being full. FOOD for Good Mood states “There is certainly evidence that certain substances in food such as preservatives, colourings and additives, as well as chemicals in household products, can cause reactions such as fatigue, headaches, anxiety, irritability, depression and even psychotic behaviour” (FOOD for Good Mood 1). Different types of foods cause different types of reactions or feelings. For example, eating too much sweets or candy may cause you to have a stomach ache. They also quote “Chocolate. Research suggests the stimulant phenylethylamine found in chocolate creates a sense of wellbeing and excitement” (Food for Good Mood 3). PEA (phenylethylamine) interacts with chemicals in the brain, letting us feel love and happiness. That's why sweets such as chocolate make us happy and more jolly.
We should have a controlled and healthy diet because food affects us physically. It's common for us to think that the foods we eat affects our looks. This is true, and we have to balance what we eat to stay in shape, and have a healthy body. HHS Office explains that “Unhealthy eating habits have contributed to the obesity epidemic in the United States: about one-third of U.S. adults (33.8%)” (HHS Office 1). Food has caused obesity all over the United States! Foods you should mainly avoid are sodas, juices, butter, salt, fatty foods, sweets, ect. Another article informs that “Studies suggest that eating lots of colorful fruits and vegetables can help us avoid heart disease and diabetes, and maybe avoid cancer, too” (Healthy Foods and Cancer Prevention). Not only does food affect the way you look, but it can also prevent diseases. The most efficient way to prevent diseases is to eat lots of fruits and veggies!
We should have a controlled and healthy diet because it designates our character. People assume our character through many ways, and one of them is what we eat. Now, we are what we eat, so you shouldn't eat junk food! HHS Office also explains that “Your diet can help you to reach and maintain a healthy weight, reduce your risk of chronic diseases (like heart disease and cancer), and promote your overall health” (HHS Office 1). What you eat changes the way you look, think, and act. If you are a junky, people will assume you have a bad character. The last article proclaims that “Researchers have found that kids who eat breakfast do better in school and in sports than those who skip it” (Six Tips for Choosing Healthy Foods 1). A healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner will serve you all rights to a good character! Better to be known as the happy energetic student than the grumpy lazy person.
To summarize, we should have a controlled and healthy diet because food affects us mentally, physically, and designates our character. Food strongly affects the way we think and act in different situations. It also affects the way we are and look. All together, these affect the way people look at us and describe our personality. Over all, we should take care of our lives and bodies by having a healthy lifestyle.
