American life has changed to a large extent since the Gilded Age because time is very much different to an extent in the twenty-first century. Olden times before the twenty-first century seem ancient to those who live in the current times. Inequality has gotten worse for those who cannot afford certain things in the United States. With technology basically taking over with the iPhone made by apple. Life has gotten easier for the middle and upper classes, while life is much harder for the lower classes, known as the homeless or the poor.
In an article. It tells the tail of Henry George’s vision of the future back in the nineteenth century, or the late eighteen hundreds in America. He tells the article of what he thinks will happen in the future, telling what he thinks will happen with technology in the world. As well as how he would make us of life with tech, one thing I found interesting to what the article said about him is that he worked as a journalist in San Francisco, where I live. But what I also found interesting is what the article said about his beliefs in inequality today “He would’ve had these new forces or in other words, technology elevate society from it’s very foundations listing the very poorest above the possibility of want, expanding the very lowest, from anxiety to want the material needs.
“He would’ve had these new forces or in other words, technology elevate society from it’s very foundations listing the very poorest above the possibility of want, expanding the very lowest, from anxiety to want the material needs”
About the quote above, I think what it really means is that “Henry George” wants technology to not just improve humanity but to help humanity, which has worked out pretty well so far with helping us. But in improvement, I guess not after all there are no flying cars, space or futuristic looking buildings but instead androids like Siri and Alexa who are AI (Artificial Intelligence) that help us get information by asking them.
The quote and the meaning of deeply connects to my topic sentence in every way. With the whole part of saying what Henry George would’ve done with technology if he was still alive or if he was alive today. My topic is explaining what american life is today vs what it was like back in the day or whenever Henry George was around or what life was like in general. To analyze what my quote really means. Is that George is basically telling us his vision, or what his vision was back when he was alive. He wanted to make technology a good more expansive idea than just phones, cars, artificial intelligence items like Siri and Alexa. So yes it connects to my topic sentence explaining how technology is great, and how life was like and how our present time was looked up to back in the day.
Therefor, after all I said of or what I think of about technology and the past. I’d still say technology is important even if it will ever go up against us like robots or artificial intelligence that want to cause harm in the future. But in this case technology is the best resource we’ve got knowing we can do anything with it. But what I think basically is that Henry George is correct and I agree with his vision on what he thought he could’ve done with technology today. He would’ve elevated society with the help of technology, he would also help the poor. But it’s far too late for that. Knowing what society is like to the poor today. He wanted to give the poor what they wanted. Moving anxiety to the very need. Therefor, those are my opinion and thoughts on what he said and how I view technology.
