When I was little, I grew up listening to Michael Jackson and we went the lake every summer and you wouldn’t ever hear any other music playing on our boat. Me and my dad loved him and to be honest, that was one of the only things we ever bonded over. I remember the first time I heard him sing and I was in the backseat of my dad’s truck and I asked my dad if it was a girl singing, I was probably like 4 or 5 years old. I also had this little MP3 player and literally every song I could find of Michael Jackson was on that IPod. it was my favorite thing ever and I loved it. When I was 7 it was summertime and I remember being at home and my dad telling me that Michael Jackson died and cried and cried because I was never going to see him in concert. So all summer I would hear people listening to MJ’s music at the lake and I remember my dad said “It sucks that people only get recognition when they pass away and are more appreciated after they are gone”. The november following Michael Jackson's death, i had my 8th birthday party and the theme was Michael Jackson and there was music videos playing on my TV in the living room and my cake had so many pictures of Michael and I had dressed like MJ and it was by far my absolute favorite birthday ever. My whole life, all i can remember is everyone loving Michael in my family, and that's something we all knew we agreed on. I still, to this day, have every song on my phone and many t-shirts with him on it.
