My name is Innocent Umunna. I was born and raised in Nigeria, live in Manteca. I work for Santa Clara County. I am married with three Children. My everyday activities include go to work and study at home. I enjoy reading, listen to music and travelling. I also find my interest in soccer and doing social activities.
According to the Oxford dictionary, “Grammar is the way in which words are put together to form proper sentences.” I am taking this class to learn how to solve my grammatical problems with English via knowing the structure and set of rules that will help me form proper sentences and communicate better. To obtain an effective communication skill, this will help to develop my accuracy and fluency in communication. By learning this class I will speak, read and write in a smooth and skillful way. This is because my communicative skill will only develop when I connect or relate grammatical development to my ability to communicate. Above all, with correct grammar people will not misunderstand me when I speak. Grammar will help me to express my thoughts and ideas effectively.
Yes, I have taken online classes before, and I was successful. Some of the things that helped me to succeed are thus. I have passion for the class I have registered, which serves as a drive to be disciplined and persevere even in tough times. I keep focusing, taking one step at a time and remembering that why I am taking the class is for a better career that will help me to take good care of my family. I see my online classes as a job by making it my top priority. Setting a daily small goal for myself and making sure that I accomplish it each day. At the beginning of each semester, I make myself a clear and achievable study plan, by planning my readings and when to work on my assignments. I also give room for unexpected circumstances.
I have a designated quiet place at home that is free of distraction where I can relax and study especially when nobody is at home. I try to remove or limit myself from media and social media distractions by turning off phone and TV during my study time. In conclusion, my suggestions to students who are new to online classes are to stay focused and realize the reason you have registered these classes. Understand that to achieve your desired goal for online classes, make sure you have a detailed breakdown task in your calendar on what you will accomplish each day. Like I stated earlier, take one step at a time by dividing your time to each section and give yourself small break in between sections to allow you to refresh your brain to get extra energy to continue. After studying, try to quiz yourself as this will help to test your knowledge and keep you mentally engaged and ready for your main quiz or exam. When you quiz yourself and fail, go back and find out why you fail by reading the assigned chapters again, by reading it again will make it to stick. If I did it and I succeeded, do it you will also succeed.
