The philosopher I choose to do my bibliography on is John Locke. John Locke was born in Wrington, Somerset, England, On August 29, 1632. John Locke was named after his father, John Locke, who was lawyer in the town of Chew Magna.  John's mother was Agnes Keene, who many said was very beautiful. Locke grew up with his parents being puritans. As soon as Locke was born they moved to a town called Pensford.

Locke's early education began at Westminster School in London.  When Locke finished his studies at Westminster he was admitted to Christ Church, Oxford. Here he was good student, but disliked how things were taught. This is when Locke began his interest in modern philosopher, such as Ren© Descartes. Locke's appearance at the time was like most with a slim face and long hair.

The thinking of John Locke is best shown through his work, such as his masterpiece An Essay Concerning Human Understanding".  In it he argues that all our ideas simple or complex come from experience.  Also that we can never really understand the nature of things around us, only their behavior and way they affect us. His ideas did not become popular to the people until later on.

Some quotes by John Locke are No man's knowledge here can go beyond his experience. This quote goes with his ideas in his work An Essay Concerning Human Understanding. Every man has a property in his own person. This nobody has a right to, but himself the meaning of this quote is that everyone controls what they do and think no one else can control those things. The last quote What worries you, masters you, means that we should not worry , once we start worrying, that is all we can think about and you don't perform properly and to your full potential.

Through his great life Locke returned to Oates in Essex where he retired and lived there until he died on October 28, 1704.  Locke's presence is still around today as is said that his ideas were incorporated into the Declaration of Independence by Thomas Jefferson.
