You are the conductor for an orchestra. A big performance has been planned for charity and it is 30 minutes before it starts. Suddenly, an organizer runs up to you. ""The French horns aren't going to be here."" This is like life. If one of us is not here, it will still go on, but his or her contribution is lost. Imagine the potential for a fuller, richer, more complete existence for all humanity. The world would be better, and everyone's experience would be enhanced if the person were with us. To truly respect God's wonderful gift of life, you can respect yourself, influence your friends, and go against popular culture.
Everyone is created in the image and likeness of God, and that includes you! 'Your body is a temple...' (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) and you should respect it and yourself. 'All human beings, in as much as they are created in the image of God, have the dignity of a person.'(2264 Catechism) You are a person, and you are created in God's image and likeness for something special. You need to make the most out of it! This is a great way to respect life, but with your friends, you can accomplish even more.
Once you are living life fully aware that your life is important, you can join forces with your friends. You can form a small group and support each other. You can help them with realizing every life is meant to be valued. You and your friends can include anyone, and grow larger a group that that supports life. Once this has been done, you can let the world know that each life is valuable beyond measure. This is how God wanted it to be.
Popular culture believes that lives are disposable, as are most other things in today's mainstream lifestyle, like food containers, packaging, and writing implements. Violence and death are becoming acceptable, even being encouraged. To help stop this trend, you could start a social media post or a blog to promote the value of life. Enough people might read it that it will become a national movement. To respect life, this is a good way to start.
To respect life, you can go against popular culture, encourage your friends, and respect yourself. Once you know that your life is important, you can spread the message to your friends. You and your friends can form a small pro-life group. Once this has been done, a social media movement can be formed to fight for life. In this ripple effect, one person could touch the lives of countless others. Every valued life is a saved life!
