Strict Consequences should be Implemented to Punish Littering in America

In the United States of America littering has hit an all-time high. Keeping a clean living space is an important part of life. Majority of the litter that is happening is actually unintentional. Sometimes littering really does happen on accident. Something may fall out of your pocket or maybe fly from the backseat of a car out of a window. Not justifying the act of littering but it very well might not be on purpose. But there are some people that actually do litter on purpose. Littering comes with a lot of repercussions whether it be right away or not. Either way people should work hard to make sure their environment stays clean. As some family say cleanliness is most definitely next to godliness.

Our environment is slowly dwindling down to nothing day after because people are too careless to pick up after themselves. Not only humans but animals die, day after day. Animals have to live on the earth just as much as we do, and when we litter we make it hard for them to survive. Simple day-to-day things that we use could simply kill many of the animals. For instance bottle caps some people open a water and throw the bottle cap on the ground, instead of the nearest trash can. If a small bird or maybe even a squirrel were to get a hold of it they could easily choke on it and die. Our wild life is a valuable part of any community all over the world. Litter discarded along the streets, in the woods, and in the water is very inadequate.

Not only is wildlife effected by littering but marine life is severely affected by careless littering. Although some may not play out scenarios in their mind before or after doing things, it could greatly help if they did. Just think about how many people go to enjoy the beaches all around the world every day. How often do partiers or onlookers decide to clean the beaches after use? Something as simple as the rings around soda cans can get around a fishes neck strangling and killing it. Or maybe even something as small as a beer can tab. A small animal could easily get the tab stuck in its throat. Not only may that happen but if not killed the animals will have extreme discomfort. Making things even more difficult for the very few people who do help out in their community.

Not only does littering affect animals it has a strong impact on humans to. Littering can be very hazardous. Things like broken glass and maybe even inadequately thrown away needles can pose to be severely dangerous. Those type of things are a breeding ground for germs and coming in contact with them is just begging for infections. Littering can attract vermin which can result in extreme health hazards. Accumulated litter as well as cigarette butts can be potential fire starters when something is lit. Carelessly discarding things can also be considered littering and be dangerous for the people around you.

With all points understood then it is safe to say that littering isn't okay no matter how you put it. Littering is just unattractive in general. It takes so much value away from some really nice places. Being thoughtful enough to clean up behind yourself is not much to ask of anyone. If people don't care about themselves or other around it should be reminded to them that everything has an opposite but equal reaction. So whatever you put into the environment you get back. So it is important that you take care of our planet and do Mother Nature some justice.
