My family has had a total of eight pit bulls. Currently, we have four lovable pits. My youngest son has two, Bentley and Azul. My other son has one named Max, and I have mine who is Chance. My daughter's pit was taken from her yard and then found a few weeks later. At that point, the individuals who took her had already cropped the ears and tail. I also believe they began to train her for fighting. This was because she showed signs of abuse and aggression toward individuals. The others were able to live a loving and happy and family environment. "Pit bull" is not a breed it is a type of dog. A "Pitbull" is actually a generic term for various breeds which is several hundreds of mixed breeds of similar physical appearance.

These are the American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, and Blue Blood Bulldog. The 'pit bull" often designates how a dog looks and not a breed itself, typically leading to a larger degree of misplaced blame on these dogs. Most people cannot actually distinguish the difference between a true American Pit Bull Terrier and other breeds.Pit bulls are perceived as naturally violent, aggressive, mean, and very dangerous. Pitbull dogs are not born ready to fight other dogs or to attack humans. They are trained to fight by individuals who are interested in making a profit and providing entertainment in the form of a dogfight. Pit bulls are not inherently dangerous. Like any other dogs, through a lack of training, abuse, neglect and irresponsible ownership they can become violent, aggressive and mean. Breeding, as well as a lack of attention to health and temperament issues, can also contribute to their demeanor. If they are treated with respect and trained properly, pit bulls will exhibit little to no negative traits.

In fact, according to the American Temperament Test Society, American Pit Bull Terriers, the most popular breed used in dogfights, have a very high temperament passing rate of 82.6 percent. Even dogs commonly thought to be kind and gentle and they are, with the right care like Bearded Collies and Chihuahuas scored lower than American Pit Bull Terriers. Pit bulls are providing several different services to communities. Police dog training with American Pit Bull Terriers is now a common practice amongst law enforcement. While some choose to use this breeds for its determination and strength for criminal actives, law enforcement uses this dog's abilities for positive reasons. According to Marjie Alonso, the executive director of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants, pit bulls have an ideal body type for supporting anyone who needs help standing up. Because of their stocky build, pit bull-type dogs provide a solid brace to hold onto, making them ideal service dogs. There is also a Service Dog Training Program for prison inmates. Pit bulls from the program then become a vital tool for disabled clients and then form a loving bond that is beneficial emotionally, physical and also mentally. This is a win-win situation for the inmates who trained the dogs, the dogs and the clients who will receive the service animal. This type of program gives inmates a sense of purpose and possibly a way to give back to society.

In review, Pit bulls are not a breed it is a type of dog. Pit bulls are perceived as naturally violent, aggressive, mean, and very dangerous. Pit bulls are providing valuable services to communities. Pit bulls are a type of dog and not a bad breed. Even though they are perceived as violent, aggressive, dangerous, and mean.
