Engel created this model to be broken down into three components; biological, psychological and sociological. The Biopsychosocial Model will help clinicians understand the disease and develop an effective treatment plan for their patients. Many people all around the world suffer from some type of compulsive behavior whether its caffeine, gambling, shopping, or even substance abuse.
