Assignment Overview

Answer the following questions with one specific assignment in mind. Your professor will tell you which assignment (paper, project, speech, activity, etc.) to reflect on.

Each question requires one paragraph of analysis. Please remember that paragraphs have structure, including opening and closing lines with supporting middle sentences. Attention should be paid to grammar, spelling, and syntax.

Copy and paste the questions below on to a new Word document, then answer each question. Upload your document into Blackboard.

  1. On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being the best), how well did you contribute to the assignment? What role did you play? In what ways did you contribute? Did you participate verbally and/or nonverbally? Provide examples to support your rating. I would score myself as an 8 because I did communicate with everyone through text messaging, the role that I played was just a member that did the work that needed to be done. Chasity and I came up with the thesis for our topic on hate crimes. I have done all the research for my part and have written the citations, however, I forgot to do the summary ahead of time. We all met one day at the coffee shop to put our outlines together.
  2. On a scale of 1 to 10, how well did you encourage others to participate to the assignment? How were you encouraging or discouraging? Provide examples to support your rating. I have to score myself a 7 because I kept texting everyone about the assignment. Within the group the first outline I sent in was not the best, so I sent in the fixed version of my part to Elizabeth.
  3. On a scale of 1 to 10, how well did you work with and relate to other classmates during the assignment? Did you help motivate others in a positive and respectful way? Did you give polite criticism to others if they needed it? Provide examples to support your rating. I would score a 9 simply because there were times that I could be frustrated at the some of the group members. The positive things that I could say about every one in the group was that we are not catty towards one another, we all help each other out. Elizabeth helped all of us tweaked our transitions. I don’t think I gave out any criticism throughout the project. The frustration that was spewing was that not all members were answering their texts all the time. I could understand that because everyone was busy during the thanksgiving holidays.
  4. On a scale of 1 to 10, how well did you contribute to resolving difference of opinions during the assignment? How did you resolve disagreements? What was your role when disagreements arose? Provide examples to support your rating. I have to score myself a 6 because during the conflict I was the neutral party that decided to find some common ground for the rift that was rising. The difference in opinion was that at the beginning our disconfirming topic was the Holocaust. As we looked at the topic we decided that it will be hard to find points to explain in our speech. The second topics that we all texted each other was fake news, or hate crimes. It was an even score between both topics, so we all examined both topics and decided to do hate crimes.
