COULD JESSICA SIMPSON have a possible histrionic personality disorder? Before exploring the issue further, it would be wise to discuss the term. According to the American Psychiatric Association and the Cleveland Clinic, Histrionic personality disorder is defined as series of dramatic personality disorders characterised by intense and unstable emotions as well as low self esteem. One of the biggest characteristics is the desire for attention. While people crave attention, there are others who crave for it in excess; sometimes people in reality TV Shows. In the case of Jessica Simpson, she received attention on the MTV Reality TV Show called "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica" before she left Nick to seek better opportunities. The show included several private or intimate moments of the stars, going to the extent of showing Simpson using the toilet. Further, her cinematic career remains wanting with many of her films like the Dukes of Hazzard becoming flops. One example was when she announced that she would participate in the "modern" version of "The Dukes of Hazards. " She appeared to have destroyed the film and converted an American classic into a cheesy film, which deserved the Raspberries. Her rendition of the Nancy Sinatra hit in the film "These Boots Were Made For Walking" was not appreciated either. Simpson showed all of herself in her rendition of the song seemingly telling them (in a mental way) : "I need your attention, come to me. " The various Christian Evangelical groups condemned her for "too much sex" and she seemed to relish the attention by responding that she was "glad that she did not go into the Christian Music Industry. " The response shows how she adored the negative attention as if it was better than positive attention. She also tried her hand at country music, wanting to show the world that she was a great talent and at the same time needed to be in front of the camera. The response of the people in the festival, which took place in Wisconsin was to boo her as she walked on the stage. It appeared that she enjoyed the negative attention as it was better than the little she does receive. The romance between Jessica Simpson and Dallas Cowboy American Football Player Tony Romo cannot be commented about because the underwriter does not know if the love was real or staged to gain attention. It is often wandered if Hollywood suffers from the same disease of Histrionic Personality Disorder. In closing, Jessica Simpson could have a case of Histrionic Personality Disorder. The subject matter could be discussed further in entertainment shows as well as medical conventions. The treatment is psychotherapy and there is no magical medicine that could change it. It is hoped that the Histrionic Personality Disorder that she seems to suffer from does not progress as she ages. Only time will tell what can occur.
