Faith Hill’s movie star good looks surely helped her cause, and her much celebrated marriage to fellow country star Tim McGraw gave her a career purists, but she had the star power of a diva even before her pop success. Faith Hill was born Audrey Faith Perry on September 21, 1967(age 41), in Jackson Mississippi, she was adopted as an infant and raised by a couple in the nearby small town of Star where she grew up. At the age of three she was already singing for her family and first performed publicly at a 4-H luncheon when she was about seven. Faith Hill spent most of her childhood singing whenever the chance came.
At age seventeen she formed a band that played local rodeos. At the age of nineteen she quit college and moved to Nashville to make it as a singer. During that time, she was married briefly to music supervisory Dan Hill. In time, she was hired as a secretary at a music publishing firm, where she was discovered by accident while singing to herself one day. Encouraged by company head Gary Morris, Faith Hill became a demo singer foot the firm and also preformed professionally as a harmony vocalist behind the singer, song writer, and producer Gary Burr and Faith Hill’s act at Nashville club, and wound up singing Faith Hill to a solo deal.
Faith Hill released her debut album; Take Me as I am, in the late 1993. Their first child was born in May of 1997, and it was a girl named Gracie. No longer after that Tim McGraw and Faith Hill made a duet,” It’s your Love”. The song was burning up the country charts, staying number one for six weeks.
Faith Hill returned in the spring of 1998 with Faith . The next single was,” This Kiss” proved the savvy of her approach not only did it top the country charts for three weeks, but it also became a pop hit, climbing number seven. By the time” This Kiss” had run its course on the charts Faith Hill had another baby. It was there second daughter named Maggie. If Faith Hill had been a star in the country world, she was now rapidly becoming a superstar, known just not for her music but also as a celebrity. Her next two singles were,” Just to Hear You Say You Love Me” (another duet with Tim McGraw) and “Let Me Let Go”.
Even though they didn’t duplicate the pop success “This Kiss. ” Faith Hill released another hit song,” Breathe. ” It entered the charts and became number one in late 1999. It had become Faith Hill’s biggest hit yet. It spent six weeks on the top country charts and was an even bigger in adult contemporary charts. It climbed to number two pop, the single had such power that it wound up the biggest hit of the year 2000. The rest of the singles were pretty successful in the own way, “The Way You Love Me” and “There You’ll Be” both hit top ten. Faith Hill also scored another top ten country hit duet with Tim McGraw,” Let’s Make Love. And teamed up for another tour in 2000. Faith hill spent 2001 taking a break and spending time with Audrey, her third daughter with Tim McGraw. In 2002 Faith Hill returned to the spotlight with her fifth studio recording, Cry, a three million seller whose title track netted her the Best Female Vocal Performance Grammy for 2003. Faith Hill took about three years to return to recording, but when she released Fireflies in August 2005 it was hailed as one of the finest works. The lead single, “Mississippi Girl” hit number one on the country single charts. The album reached number one on the album charts.
Her Soul2Soul 11 tour of 2006, which she co-headline with Tim McGraw, became the highest-grossing tour of all time. In 2007, Faith Hill started work on her first domestic greatest hits package, The Hits, which was released on October 2. The Hits features two new songs, "Lost" and "Red Umbrella," plus a live version of the song "Stronger," taken from the Soul2Soul 2007 tour. The album also features hit covering her entire career from 1993–2005. Hill also recorded a duet called "Sleeping with the Telephone" for Reba McEntire's Duets album, released on September 18, 2007. She's also featured on husband Tim McGraw's 2007 album Let It Go.
She sings two duets with him, "I Need You" and "Shotgun Rider. " Both songs were sung at the couple's critically acclaimed Soul2Soul II Tour 2006. She and Tim also did an encore of their Soul2Soul II Tour; Soul2Soul 2007 began in June and ran through August. The song,” I Need You” has been nominated twice at the 2008 Grammy Awards for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals and Best Country Song. The show took place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA on February 10, 2008 but the song didn't win. In 2007 Faith Hill took over as the signature voice of NFL on NBC's Sunday Night Football, singing the theme song.
Faith Hill also sang the theme for Sunday Night Football that airs on the NBC network. The song is called "Waiting All Week For Sunday Night". She will be heard on Aretha Franklin's upcoming album, A Woman Falling Out of Love, planned to be released in 2009. Annie Lennox is working with Faith Hill and twenty-two other female artists to raise the awareness of the transmission of HIV to unborn children in Africa. "Sing", which Hill collaborated on, was released on World Aids Day on December 1, 2007, when Lennox appeared at the next Nelson Mandela 46664 concert in South Africa.
About releasing a duets album with husband Tim McGraw, she later stated that they have other projects. Faith Hill finished recording her Christmas album, titled Joy to the World. At the 2008 CMA Music Festival, fan club members had a chance to listen to the new album. The album was released September 30, 2008 and the first single is "A Baby Changes Everything. " Joy to the World hit the number 1 spot in Canada and 2 on the U. S. country charts. On September 28, 2008, Faith Hill re-entered the UK singles chart with her 2001 hit 'There You'll Be'. The song climbed to number 10 after a contestant sang the song on the UK television show X Factor.
It is reported that the song had been downloaded over 100,000 times on various Web sites since the performance, thus propelling the single to the number 10 position. In 2001 the song reached number 3 on the UK singles chart. Faith Hill is said to be recording the follow-up to the 2005 Fireflies, which has a release date of 2009.
