Jury Duty is when you, a a citizen, along with 11 others, is called to decide whether or not someone is guilty. In 12 Angry Men, 12 very different personalities were called to decide on whether or not an 18 year old was considered guilty of killing his father. In order to dictate which jurors were more attractive to be around and which were not, I had to put myself in the predicament. There were several jurors that I was drawn to and several that I was not. The two jurors I was drawn included the Old man and the ghetto white boy. The jurors I was negatively drawn to included the loudmouth and the ballman.
Two jurors that caught my eye was the old man and the ghetto white boy. The old man caught my eye because he had a great sense of humor. Like when he said, "Maybe we can get him elected senator." I thought that was really funny. Maybe it was because it was so hot or maybe it was because he wanted to lighten the mood. But either way he lightened my mood and made me smile. I was also attracted to him because he was very honest and open to ideas. The other character that I was attracted to was the ghetto white boy for a number of reasons. A few being because he had alot of confidence and he believed in everything he was saying. I was not only attracted to them because of their personalities, but because I see myself in them. With the positivity and the confidence, but also being open to new ideas and so forth.
Two other jurors that caught my eye were The loudmouth and the Ballman. But they caught my eye in a negative way. The loudmouth states his opinion but he does is rudely. For example when he said, "You're letting him slip through our fingers." He doesn't know the boy yet he is so quick to say he is guilty. He was so quick to judge the boy based off of what he was given he didn't really take the time to hear him out. He does not care about how loud he's, hence his name " loudmouth". Another juror that caught my attention was the Ballman. He doesn't really care if the boy is guilty or not, he just wants to get out of there so he can go to his game. He voted what everyone else voted. I don't see myself in neither one of these jurors. The rudeness and disregard for others was so high with those two to a point where if I had to live with them i would run away and never come back.
The four jurors that stood out, two negative and two positive were very interesting. They stood out most of all out of the twelve. I enjoyed the movie. It was interesting to see everyone's point of view, I just wish it was in color.
