Task oriented conflict refers to a disagreement between members of any group due to different approaches on how to view objective issues. Relation oriented conflict is more of a disagreement among a group due to different personalities and their interrelationship. In the film 12 angry men, the two types of conflict are explored. The conflict between juror 9 and other jurors in the film was due to them having different perspectives of voting guilty or not guilty. This represented a task oriented conflict. On the other hand, the egoistic nature of juror 3 made him to vote not guilty, described as a sadist; he voted this due to his sour relationship with juror 8.

Conflict management styles are the strategies that are applied to identify and handle conflicts fairly, safely, sensibly and efficiently. In the film 12 angry jurors, these strategies were applied to solve personal and task oriented conflicts within the jurors. The problem of ego caused a conflict between juror 3 and other jurors and usually resulted to conflict, however the other judges were calm at him and politely dissuaded him from charging the young man on trial as guilty. He therefore realized that the conflict was not personal therefore his ego receded and conflict was resolved.

In a system, the process involves inputs that go through the system as throughputs and out as output which is released to the environment for feedback purposes. Inputs are things that are put into a system and the outputs are the results of the process. A throughput on the other hand is a technology or product put into a system to enable an input to be converted into the desired output. An environment is the place out of the system where the output is applied.
