Unfortunately, we did our best but she is going to pass away soon; that is what the doctor said to her family. A girl who was suffering of chronic kidney disease is now reaching a really tough situation. Her kidneys are no longer working and this has a huge effect on her body functions. Every morning, the first thing that her family does is making sure she is still alive; this is the hardest feeling to count the moments for person's life. Until the miracle came that changed her life and gave her a new living chance. What happened was a women who signed for organ donation after death, died and her kidneys were appropriate to help this girl's life. IV: Transition: Today, I am going to talk about organ donation after death, I will describe the problem, provide some causes and effect, and explain some solutions. V: Organ donation has a significant value for other people. Organ donation means to transfer your organ after death to people who are sick and need them. The donator can donates by his/her internal organs like kidney, heart, liver, pancreas, and lungs, or external skin, bones, and cornea.

Most of organ donations are done after the donor has died. However, some organs can be donated while the donor is still alive. According to health resources and services administration, if there is one person donated by his/her organs after death, he/ she will help around 50 people. There is no specific age or background needed, all ages with different health situations can be donated their organs. Every day, there is a huge number of people who died. However, very few of them who had signed for donation. According to the New York time article, there is 100,000 people now are in the waitlist for kidneys. Kidney diseases are so common between people and that is why the kidney considered as the first organ needed for donation. VI: There are a huge number of people who say they will donate their organs. But, there is a few number of them who actually register. According to Applying Behavioral Insights to Organ Donation study, there is 90 percentage of people in United Kingdom who support organs in theory. However, only one-third who practically register. Indeed, there are some causes and effects that let people to not donate their organs. A) First cause is mistrust.

Most of people who support organ donation and they don't register, they feel mistrust for medical field. In 2002, there was a study conducted in Australia for medical field shows that the biggest barrier for organ donation is brain death. In this situation, most people will not allow their kin to donate their organs even if they know their brain is dead. They mistrust that brain-dead means the patient will not get conscious again. As result, most people do not register to donate their kin organs because the mistrust for medical field. B) Second causes is regarding to a psychology reason. Some people have a wrong thought and they think that if someone register for organ donation and he/she got a serious health problem, the doctors will not do their best to save his/her life since the doctors know the patient is registered for organ donation. According to professor of communication at the University of Illinois, shows that people think this way because they get effected of TV and drama shows. So, TV is a negative factor that adds a drama sense to their thoughts. As a result, these people chose to not donate their organs to give themselves a chance of living when they face a serious health situation. C) The third cause is related to religion factor. Most religions have no issues with organ donation. But, some researches show that catholic people are less likely to donate than other religious people. People with catholic religion have a belief for life after death and they concern about keeping body integrity.

This results in avoiding organs donation regarding to their believes. D) The last cause is according to emotional factor. Simply, people are uncomfortable to talk about death at all. Some people believe that if they talk about death, they are going to die. There is no rational reason rather than fear of death. There was a study conducted for British women who don't assign for organ donation, the study shows that more than 70% of them are uncomfortable to talk about death. As a result, people who feel uncomfortable for talking about death, they don't donate their organs. VII: The only solution to limit of this problem is to join health centers that support organs donation. This step has a significant influence to let people understand the facts behind organs donation, the benefits in how it save other people lives.

Also, it encourages people to choose this option and then they help them to assign for registration to get an organ donation card. In addition, it is important to not mix between drama shows and reality by asking medical consultant about any concern you may have and reading more about true facts. Also, there is a plan to encourage people to donate their organs such as government entity will provide to them a retirement fund, income tax credit, or tuition voucher. VIII: Closing: In conclusion, organ donation is a valuable option to save other people's lives. Nothing better than to give a living chance for someone who was suffering of disease, feeling a severe pain, and shedding teardrops all the night. Giving a new life for people who think they will not be able to live any more, is really a great value that we can provide after death. In addition, Organ donation adds weight not only for giving a new life for people who have a serious problem, but also to develop various medical fields. Medical scientist and doctors would be able to run their researches and experiments on different organs. Therefore, they will be able to detect some drugs for curing several diseases and eventually that would saves hundreds of human lives.
